If you are referring to altar servers..my DD said she would serve both masses..I would be willing to do a reading as well.

Yes....altar servers. I have Tori down as a server, and I will add your name as a reader. Thanks!

As I mentioned last night, we had quite the ordeal at the 6th grade Math at the Mall Fieldtrip that both my DW and I attended as chaperones. I'll try to give everyone a condensed version, but it's still a long story.

We've been having difficulty with a neighbor girl and have forbidden our kids from playing with her in the past. A couple of weeks ago, we finally had the kids all agree to forgive and move on and be friends. The second chance we gave her seemed to be going well.

Out of shear luck, my DW happened to walk into the GameStop store yesterday afternoon as this neighbor girl was selling back 14 of our Nintendo DS games. (They all had our last name in permanent ink written on the back). She was going to get over $160 for them according to the sales clerk!

When the girl saw my DW walk in, she immediately confronted her and told my DW that our 13 year old son, John had given them to her. A little later the story was John had given her two and our six year old had given her the rest. There were 3 different Super Mario Brothers games as each of our boys had their own!

After we figured it out that she had taken them from us and they were not given to her by our boys, we asked the teachers what to do. They had us talk to the School Resource Officer (SRO) who called the local police. The local police said that selling merchandise that is not yours with a value of over $100 back to a pawn shop is a felony. Game Stop is considered a pawn shop. As a felony, she would have been handcuffed in front of her classmates and taken to juvenile detention.

We decided to wait and talk more to the SRO back at school. The admin and SRO recommended that charges be filed to protect ourselves in case the girl or her family retaliated. Any retaliation would be considered intimidating a witness and a felony charge could be made against her and her parents. The SRO said they would be explained this thoroughly once charged.

We slept on it and talked extensively to all three boys. We found out our youngest had put two of his favorite games in his pocket so she wouldn't take them. We asked him where they were and he said he had no idea (typical). So I went up to his room and pulled his pants out of the clothes hamper from yesterday and sure enough, there were the two games he hid from her. And this was the 6 year old who "gave" her all of the games per her own statement.

This morning we filed charges in our county against her. It's only a misdemeanor and the SRO said most likely she'd be charged with 3 different crimes and would plead one of them in exchange for community service.

Needless to say, she's not getting a third chance.

Oh and one more thing, her Mom was on the field trip with her and was going to let her sell our games back to the store. He Mom has our cell phone numbers and knew we were on the field trip!

And this is just middle school!:confused3

SORT OF CRUISE RELATED!!
Okay though...I've been thinking.....I'm sure that some of you might have things you want me to check on, or maybe questions or whatever while I'm on that cruise.
What's the best way to handle that w/o me racking up a thousand minutes on the internet reading all these pages and then answering??

How about using the pirate: website instead of this one
Maybe we can set up a Ask Stace page

I just received a confirmation for the zipline tour for noon. At least we're confirmed! It took a week and a half to get the confirmation back from them along with the instructions for payment.

I'm nervous that my 13 year-old may chicken-out when he gets there so you may have a babysitter. Otherwise, you could always leave her in the club (no flames please--this isn't the main board).

My instructions indicated that we don't have to pay until 3 days prior (or for us before we leave Denver as we won't have computer access). Is everyone else waiting until August to pay for the zipline or are you paying now?

We booked months ago & paid about 2 weeks ago.

Yikes! That is just terrible.

This girl needs to learn a hard lesson now if she has any chance at a good, honest life. You may be doing her a big favor in the long run by pressing charges.

I think the price difference is fairly small between a cab and the bus and I though I read on CC that the bus drops you off a bit of a walk from the beach/meeting place. As it is going to be so blazin' hot, we will probably cab it.

Ok here's an ariel map of momba beach area.

The Holiday inn is where they tell you to get off bus. Doesn't look far at all.

I much rather pay 2.50 each way for the both of us. Maybe if you are a family of 4 or five it makes sense for a taxi.

$5 for us roundtrip is way cheaper than pay $20. (unless someone takes pity on us and shares a cab with us ;) )

Because, after all, if I have to wear vestments, you have to wear clothes.

You don't have a Mickey stole do you....?

I totally agree with that! Holy cow. :sad2: It makes me sick to think of the things kids are doing....and even more sick that the parents don't seem to either know or care.
:grouphug: Hugs to your family, Christopher, I know it's a really hard decision to make.

..and I'm sure her little angel never does anything wrong...here's bettin' it all ends up being your fault!

But I won't send you back if you arrive in your pj's. As long as you have something on! Because, after all, if I have to wear vestments, you have to wear clothes. And, believe me, you wouldn't want to see chunky ol' me in a clothing-optional Mass setting!!! :rotfl:

Please please please promise to wear a Capt. Jack pirate booty t-***** under your vestments!

Time for new friends....or neighbors...

Yeah I agree... It would appear that her parents aren't helping her learn...

So with all this talk of transportation... Is anyone taking the DCL transportation? Is this a waste of money? Is it even too late to opt out so it doesn't matter now anyway? :)

Holy Guacamole you guys!! I was only gone all day yesterday and I'm buried here! :sad2: ;)
I'll never catch back up after the wedding and the June cruise.

Are you using your own laptop or stations on the ship?

Yeah I agree... It would appear that her parents aren't helping her learn...

We are planning a bus or two or three from the Disney area Hotels ...I think Smeecanada is handling that , but yes it will be much cheaper then Disney and will get you to the port early ....

You might wanna take an hour or two and read about alot of things over at the Pirate Zone Website

REAL-LIFE PLANNING QUESTION:
(deserves its own post)

If we are signed up for the group Wenches Palo Tea (and Speedo Parade Viewing) then we don't sign up as individuals for the Palo tea on booking night, right??

I know Chris is organizing the Wenches Tea, so I'll PM her as well, but I know she's not here all the time, so I figured I'd ask how this has worked for other cruises.

I know Monica replied otherwise, but my understanding has been that if you are in for a group request, you don't sign up for one of your own. This is the way I have done in for previous cruises -- the person organizing the group event has my reservation number and I don't try to get another one . . . it's always worked out for me that way.

So we avoid this by signing up as soon as we get on board? :confused3
I am not sure how this works. Or, are we going to try to arrange a sampling of all the tastings as a group? I know I signed up for the lush package. All I need to do?

Coral

If we get our private tastings, we don't need to sign up again when we get on board . . . hopefully Monica and Laurie will know more about our chances for this well before we get on board . . .

OK Jolly pirates... Are we all taking taxis to the pier?

I'm thinking it would be great to go over as a group on the public bus. (ie Way cheaper and means more money for other stuff on the TOAL)

For the four of us, it's just not that much more to take a taxi, and worth it for me . . .

As I mentioned last night, we had quite the ordeal at the 6th grade Math at the Mall Fieldtrip that both my DW and I attended as chaperones. I'll try to give everyone a condensed version, but it's still a long story.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: If this is how this girl is behaving in middle school, and her mother is enabling the behavior, things are going to do nothing but get worse with her . . .

Actually, that is the practice on any cruise line when a priest volunteers to celebrate Mass for any interested passengers.

We are, in many ways, trapped by scheduling on board -- especially since they usually schedule Mass on ships in their big venue places: theatres, lounges, et cetera.

They schedule Mass during down times.

They are generally very good about it as well. They try to make sure that the respect shore schedules and things when Mass takes place on a port day and they schedule Mass before many people are off and running.

So try not to be too alarmed at the wording of her message. That is standard operating procedure.

I'm just thankful that they are going to accommodate our request.

And, since I am a morning person (usually up at 4:30 a.m.), I'm just fine when they schedule Mass.

You folks, on the other hand, may not appreciate a real early time. :)

But I won't send you back if you arrive in your pj's. As long as you have something on! Because, after all, if I have to wear vestments, you have to wear clothes. And, believe me, you wouldn't want to see chunky ol' me in a clothing-optional Mass setting!!! :rotfl:

Hope that they don't have the theater booked for a private affair at 9 am on the 24th and 8 am on the 31st .... Deanna?

And doing her family a favor by letting them know that there can be serious issues when you look the other way and let a child do something wrong.

I can't even imagine how hard this was, but I applaud you and your children.

From my payment confirmation:

Please plan to meet us at the MooMba Beach at 9:00 AM with your bathing
suits, towels and sunscreen.

From the cruise ship terminal, you can grab a cab if you like. There are
plenty of taxis in the terminal. You can expect a 15 minute cab ride and cab
fare to MooMba to be apprx $10 each way.

You might also choose to take the public bus which is also easy and
convenient.

Directly across the street from the cruise ship terminal you will see the
brightly colored main bus station. The island is long and skinny and the
busses all run either north towards the hotels or south towards the airport
and San Nicolas.

You would take the bus which reads, "HOTELS". Everyone is very friendly
here and will point you in the right direction, should you have any Q-s at
all. Everyone on the island makes it a point to make things very easy for
our visitors. All of the hotels in Aruba are basically beside each other in
one long strip. The public bus fare is $1.20 USD each way. (US dollars
accepted everywhere)

First you will pass all of the low rise hotels and then you will see all of
the high-rises one after the other. First you will see the Phoenix and
Wyndham, Radisson, Hyatt and Holiday Inn. Jump off at the Holiday Inn; walk
through the lobby and onto the beach. When you're facing the beach, we are
just to the right.

You will see the large thatched roof tops at MooMba. Meet us by the MooMba
Bar
at our pirate shop.

We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard!

Bus seems to be easy enough

and apparently they know this crowd!

I thought I would drop by and introduce myself. We are on this cruise and for some strange reason not as excited as we were last year with the Med Repo. I thought a little dose of the DIS might be just what the doctor ordered.

We are traveling with no children this time (ours are all adults, but we are not even bringing a grandchild). There are 6 of us. Me and DH, his brother who is married to my sister and the in-laws. Not a very exciting group, maybe that is my problem:rotfl2:

I have not even explored shore excursions. I have 2 days before I can book, so I guess I have time;)

We are flying in the day before and staying right by the ship. I wish we could do DL, but not with this gang. There is not enough prozac in the world to help me cope with taking my father in law to DL.:scared1: He is an old retired Marine who has no patience for lines, heck he has no patience for waiting.

I have thrown in the towel on trying to read up on all the happenings as you are all a busy bunch. I will check the link provided to me and read the readers digest version.

So, in the mean time if some of you could send some pixie dust this way to help increase my excitement I would be grateful.:worship:
