Yes you're covered. We are trying to arrange private tastings that will be for our group only. They will not be advertised in the Navigator. People who just try to wander into Diversions (or wherever they put us) will be told it's closed for a private event.

We will have the dates and times prior to boarding the ship. If we are not successful in getting one or more, we will let you know before we go. In that case, we will have to get to Guest Services and sign up right away for anything we want.

The Tasting Scrum at the Guest Services counter will be a nice practice session for the Bacon Scrum at the breakfast buffet. :lmao:

Seriously Monica, thanks for organizing.

No flaming...but, I am not comfortable being that far away from her. Just my thing...my DH would totally agree with you though. :)

I know we have lots of people watching etc, but I may have to bribe someone at the 1:00 zipline to switch with half of my family or something. I pay well...I am sure we will get it figured out!

I am glad we will be zipping with you, I am VERY VERY excited to do this and I was worried that we wouldn't get in! :)

On our last cruise, we left the kids on the boat in the kids area during Cozumel. We just barely made it back to the boat before it sailed that night. What makes this even more hiliarious is that DH was the reason we were late and that DH did NOT want me and the kids going on the Tullum excursion because it was so long and we might not get back in time for the ship to leave (even though it was the DCL excursion!!) . . .LOL.

So . .. . I can understand why you wouldn't want to leave her . . .

And . . .I wonder what happens if the above scenerio had a bad ending (and we missed the sailing) . . .

ummmmmm..:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

As I mentioned last night, we had quite the ordeal at the 6th grade Math at the Mall Fieldtrip that both my DW and I attended as chaperones. I'll try to give everyone a condensed version, but it's still a long story.

And this is just middle school!:confused3

I'm learning the hard way that it starts much earlier these days. I'm also learning that you do need to get the police involved, no matter how difficult.

Sounds like you did the right thing.

So with all this talk of transportation... Is anyone taking the DCL transportation? Is this a waste of money? Is it even too late to opt out so it doesn't matter now anyway? :)

We are taking it from the ship to WDW ... I am not sure of the PIF date so until then you can opt out I would guess. I know the PIF date is this week.

Going back to your question about taxi's from the Doubletree....although I know the group was talking about Aruba....the Doubltree has a shuttle to take us to the port.
I know they do cruise people all the time, but I wonder if they are prepared for DISNEY CRUISERS???? :lmao:

Shuttle starts running at 11 or 12.....

Only seats 16?? without 2 weeks luggage.....

We should reach out ahead of time to assure earlier, more frequent, etc.

We are arranging a party bus from the DL area to the port. There are several folks who are working on arrangements from the Double Tree at the port.

No formal plans for Port Canaveral to MCO. I haven't booked my flights yet, but that will determine whether I go with DCL or a rental. If I have a late afternoon flight, I'll get a rental so we can either do a waterpark or Downtown Disney before the airport.

Now if you are talking DCL flights, nope, doing those on my own, much cheaper.

Sure, here's the link to it on Amazon. It's a Wonders of the World book for kids grades 3 to 6. My DS10 loves history, so he's really enjoyed the book. My DS12 hasn't started it yet as he always has an excuse to avoid "learning".

http://www.amazon.com/Panama-Canal-conquered-smaller-Wonders/dp/1931414149/ref=pd_sim_b_title_4

Anyone know of any good books for younger kids? My son will be 6 soon, he reads at a fairly high reading level but is still a little kid and get turned off by books that have too many words on a page vs. pics.

I thought I would drop by and introduce myself. We are on this cruise and for some strange reason not as excited as we were last year with the Med Repo. I thought a little dose of the DIS might be just what the doctor ordered.

We are traveling with no children this time (ours are all adults, but we are not even bringing a grandchild). There are 6 of us. Me and DH, his brother who is married to my sister and the in-laws. Not a very exciting group, maybe that is my problem:rotfl2:

I have not even explored shore excursions. I have 2 days before I can book, so I guess I have time;)

We are flying in the day before and staying right by the ship. I wish we could do DL, but not with this gang. There is not enough prozac in the world to help me cope with taking my father in law to DL.:scared1: He is an old retired Marine who has no patience for lines, heck he has no patience for waiting.

I have thrown in the towel on trying to read up on all the happenings as you are all a busy bunch. I will check the link provided to me and read the readers digest version.

So, in the mean time if some of you could send some pixie dust this way to help increase my excitement I would be grateful.:worship:

:cheer2: Welcome Aboard :cheer2:

No need to read all the pages. There's some great information in the first post.

Which Med Repo were you on? May or Aug? Just trying to figure out if maybe we crossed paths before. I was on in Aug.

Had to LOL about you and DH and his brother and your sister. My parents are like that. My aunt (mom's sister) and uncle (dad's brother) got married first and introduced mom and dad to each other.

I thought the part where they planted flowers and plants that attracted mosqitos was interesting. You are in the hospital for yellow fever or malaria and purposely planted outside your window is a great bg mosquito magnet- and open windows. :scared1: OOPS!

I'm reading the grown up book "The Path Between the Seas" and the French were very good at doing some dumb things relative to the diseases:

  • they placed dirt around all their plants and filled it with water to keep the fire ants off, giving mosquitos place to breed
  • they believed the disease came from the dirt and there wasn't anything they could do about it (although some French scientists identified the specific variety of mosquito that was responsible for the diseases, their findings were buried by the political establishment who "knew" things better)
  • they had no sewers, so filth built up in streets/alleys
  • they put all their sick in common wards, so if you broke your arm, you were put in the same ward with contagious yellow fever/malaria victims. Once you were in the wards, it was basically a death sentence

The kids book (we have it also) is very good, but brushes over lots of stuff.

Welcome!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

From the Doubletree???

We will be there and so will RRBB, OhanaFamily and children. do you know the cost of a taxi???

Hey Susan- Glad you were more successful than me getting them to switch. Keep an eye out on the Pirate site. We are all meeting at the Ports O'call restaurant Sat evening. Plan, at least now, is to watch the Tall Ships and get some dinner.
There is a shuttle but it sounds like it will be in hot demand so we are probably going to looking for a cab.

Is it just me, or are others upset about the price of postage going up yet again?
mail.jpg

:lmao: :lmao: Got my forever stamps last Saturday!!!

woman_screaming_vectorized.png

What I find more annoying is comfusion I have with all these old stamps of variable values I have that now need so-and-so cents of postage to be appropriate again! Invariably I sometimes put more than necessary out of impatient fustration !!!!

That is what the post office is counting on to make even more money!!!::rotfl: :rotfl:

I read it from the trip report going on ............. here is the excerpt.

Day 1 – 5/10/08

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our shuttle arrived at 10:00 instead of 10:30 like they had told us. We were ready to go and arrived at the port at 10:10. There didn’t seem to be too many people there yet but they were just opening the gates for us to go inside. Last time we had been dropped off right up at the curb. This time, the gates were shut and you had to walk through them to get up to the terminal. We tipped a porter $15 for 8 bags and proceeded through security. My roll of quarters were opened from their bag, as I guess it screws with their screening system or something.

We checked in and got boarding pass 5. I had done online check-in and we received our KTTW cards and lanyards for returning cruisers. I found our bracelets, lanyards and mini-navigators. Lots of lime green running around the terminal. I also got a pager for the kids club.

Thanks Tina....I thought I read it somewhere!!!:flower3: :flower3:

That's me! I've never been to one of the bars -- we've been on 3 cruises.....

Well........John and I will be disappointed if you don't go with us this time!!!:sad2: :sad2:

Thanks. I like them. Much easier to lug around than a big rectangle traditional camera bag. It never fails, whenever I go somewhere without my camera, something stectacular happens - whales will be synchronized swimming off the port bow, DS will give Cinderella a big ol' smooch, Tom will show up in his speedo, Cheryl will dance on a table...

Yes....or Mike or Roger or....

Are you and M just grouping all us trouble makers together??????:lmao: :lmao: I am glad you left your self in this group!!

Actually, they probably put everything on hold whilst they were trying to get the Magic to sail to California before attending to our needs.

I say this because she responded to my email from yesterday already.

I sent her a copy of the permission I carry in my wallet and asked if that was sufficient proof of good-standing.

Here is her reply to my email:

Fr. Mike,
The card that you have supplied us is just fine. Thank you very much.

As far as the cost for the microphone, I do apologize that you were given that information. However, we do not charge for the use of either the mic or the tech. That is all covered under our Entertainment costs for you. AND we will still reimburse you for the cost of the Mass supupplies. The ship has not yet determined the schedules for the return sailing from Los Angeles at this date. Once that has been determined, I will be sending you an itinerary, and it will detail the times & locations of masses for you.

In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.

I told you that you have some pull!!! Real answers to real questions and real names!!!:rolleyes1:woohoo: :woohoo:

Fr. Mike....I emailed Dorothy to let her know you have been in contact with Dana, and just received this reply:

Thanks for all your work on this too Deanna!!

This person will soon be fired for being helpful! :lmao: :lmao:

Customer Service is one of the things Disney is noted for escept when it comes to the cruise line!!!:rolleyes1

Happy Wednesday everyone! Guess what!

PIF!!!

Boy it's hard to put all that on the credit card in 1 week... OK off to ketchup

:dance3:  :dance3:

As I mentioned last night, we had quite the ordeal at the 6th grade Math at the Mall Fieldtrip that both my DW and I attended as chaperones. I'll try to give everyone a condensed version, but it's still a long story.

We've been having difficulty with a neighbor girl and have forbidden our kids from playing with her in the past. A couple of weeks ago, we finally had the kids all agree to forgive and move on and be friends. The second chance we gave her seemed to be going well.

Out of shear luck, my DW happened to walk into the GameStop store yesterday afternoon as this neighbor girl was selling back 14 of our Nintendo DS games. (They all had our last name in permanent ink written on the back). She was going to get over $160 for them according to the sales clerk!

When the girl saw my DW walk in, she immediately confronted her and told my DW that our 13 year old son, John had given them to her. A little later the story was John had given her two and our six year old had given her the rest. There were 3 different Super Mario Brothers games as each of our boys had their own!

After we figured it out that she had taken them from us and they were not given to her by our boys, we asked the teachers what to do. They had us talk to the School Resource Officer (SRO) who called the local police. The local police said that selling merchandise that is not yours with a value of over $100 back to a pawn shop is a felony. Game Stop is considered a pawn shop. As a felony, she would have been handcuffed in front of her classmates and taken to juvenile detention.

We decided to wait and talk more to the SRO back at school. The admin and SRO recommended that charges be filed to protect ourselves in case the girl or her family retaliated. Any retaliation would be considered intimidating a witness and a felony charge could be made against her and her parents. The SRO said they would be explained this thoroughly once charged.

We slept on it and talked extensively to all three boys. We found out our youngest had put two of his favorite games in his pocket so she wouldn't take them. We asked him where they were and he said he had no idea (typical). So I went up to his room and pulled his pants out of the clothes hamper from yesterday and sure enough, there were the two games he hid from her. And this was the 6 year old who "gave" her all of the games per her own statement.

This morning we filed charges in our county against her. It's only a misdemeanor and the SRO said most likely she'd be charged with 3 different crimes and would plead one of them in exchange for community service.

Needless to say, she's not getting a third chance.

Oh and one more thing, her Mom was on the field trip with her and was going to let her sell our games back to the store. He Mom has our cell phone numbers and knew we were on the field trip!

And this is just middle school!:confused3

Chrispher...I know it was hard on you but.............it was the only right decision to make.

..i see..this site..is right on time..keep on truckin!

ok?... 99.999 % of my input..is based on having fun. i like taking a
previous observation..makin a statment, then tying it in a knot,
and adding a bow. well, after all, the most beautiful wenches...that
ever snuggle up cpt. jack's broadsides....will be "floating" with us..
the laying down/ scury dogs..the starboard side..of the flying
dutchman. [ jus think...we could've been extras...in the poc, & they
wouldn't had to pay "make~up"? ]

ta's-ta's..comments..made me.....:) . now jus to pause....& cross
reference...[ where's x-mark the treassures]...to add...what..i think
is good heath..tip..to our sailin wenches...* when i'm bored..i read..
alot of health journals..one made the comment..."married women"..have
less chance for breast cancer. and yes, it has to do with their mates.
..which..imply..the importance of circulation...& of course with the
lymph...nodes..connection. thus...there's something...in prevention,
just by well-fitting bras..., esp. interfering..anywhere..near your
lymph nodes.

..oh, i think....it isn't just the change of life..effecting...one 's chances..
...again mate~related. :rolleyes1

fyi, i am very...strong..in applying already..."proven data" to areas of
prevention. esp. using..comon sense & traditonal, family practices..*
for developing educational programs..meeting one objective. "that they
work and produce the desire results....

i think metbolic needs..are major players...on both "playing fields"...
physical & mental health. * if i had..a cancer..history..i would increase
my vit. c. intake.

growing..up, we were told...our family...had poor lungs..though ..ignoring
how...they all smoked..like frieght trains. funny..none of kids became
smokers.

i had to :lmao: .bra & money?..well here's the advice..my dad gave me
on the "art of pickin up..ladies. pinned a $20..wiht half..hanging out &

on his..jar? [ i don't why..but i can....all kinds of..wenches reaching their
hands...in...

..isn't body..functions.."fun"..to make humor..out of..of course, as long
as it isn't "yours"?

maybe..that why...the see :sail: wenches..invented.."take all you

..oh, i believe..in living by one's  . that it's self preservation to
be true..to oneself..& belief systems...are not defined by a single
viewpoints. that's just me. & i think...faith..is what one feels is right.

noting..the real differences..between..right & wrong..is most
often described ...by ....matter of opinions. in my heart,i feel an
athiest..is a person experiencing..a lack of knowledge of a lack
of knowledge. just because,..there's sure a-lot..of rules..."for life"..
not to have been somebody ... in charge? & it is in reality,..the very
thing..that makes..life..possible..took "thinking" to have "created it".

Don't forget, I'm doing a "test run" in just over three weeks. I'll be sure to warn them....I mean, talk to them....about our August trip. ;)

Turning them away for tequila?

That's why we are trying to put together our own private tastings.

And please make sure I did sign up!!!:goodvibes

Going back to your question about taxi's from the Doubletree....although I know the group was talking about Aruba....the Doubltree has a shuttle to take us to the port.

No one is ever prepared for Disney Cruisers!!!

Okay i remember reading that on there when I was looking at one ressie but it does NOT show all the names at the bottom like you said. so I need to get my TA to link them so I won't go thru what I did last time? Last time I had to book for some of us, go get the other reservation, try to book it for the rest of the family- not available... so book it for another time, go back and delete the previous reservation and try to book it at the new time I'd just booked for the other half of the family- not available..... rinse and repeat. major pain!

The way I checked we were linked was to put my parents excursions into the wish list under their ressie#. When I then pulled up my ressie, I could see those excursions appearing in my wish list. Just hope the practice works as well early hours Mionday!

I couldn't find it. All I did was search on Fish Extender. Another seller shows up this time. Her ebay id is gradysmommy. Good luck!

We got ours from her too! Somebody on another thread said that she was going on vacation, but would post more after her trip. Keep checking.

:rotfl:
OK, has anyone else noticed the PIF date debate on the main boards:

DON'T EVEN LOOK STACE...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1824896

Yet another example of 4 different answers from DCL.

..that gave me a headache:headache:

Quote from that board:
This isn't accurate; I have a suite and the final payment isn't due until May 19th. I could beat this dead horse, but I won't.

The best thing I can tell you is to get your reservation number, call 800-951-3532 and ask the simple question, "when is my final payment due?"

This question has no bearing on booking excursions or whether you are a CC member.

But is does have bearing on booking excursions...if you aren't PIF..you don't get to book!
