Jumping in after lurking - we are officially registered with the site. Just can't keep up with everyone.

My DD has gone to the kids site, I am very anxious for my kids to find friends - I know they will. Always do on a cruise. (DS 12, DD 9).

Have they begun sending out cruise docs yet? I always forget stuff, but it seems to me we usually get them pretty early.

I cannot believe this trip of a lifetime is around the corner. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of going thru the Panama Canal. I used to read Richard Haliburton...(he was kind of an Indiana Jones guy in the 20s) and he actually swam thru the Panama Canal as cargo. If anyone can find his Book of Marvels, its a great story for the kids.

We have been ordering PC DVDs and books, etc. My kids will learn if it kills them!!! My son is working on his Merit badges - I bet something on the canal will fulfill some requirement.

It will be very ironic for DH and I to set sail from LA. We were both raised there, got married there, and lived there b4 kids...about 34 years. Haven't gone back but once. My kids have never seen it. Kind of a full circle, circle of life thing!!

Welcome!

No cruise docs, just the advance package with "highlight" type info. Cruise docs will be 2 weeks before.

Let me know if you figure what Merit Badges work for PC stuff.

Mike, :sad2: :sad2: what a bummer! Hopefully they get all your times booked for you. I am sure they will :flower3: I think your odds are much better at this time frame. If it would have happened at the 90 day mark--now that would have been a nightmare for you.

Just remember they only release a % of the shots for the 105 booking, another % for the 90 then a third % for the 75.... balance for the mad dash on ship. So if you don't get it on the 19th, you have another shot before the mad dash (poor first time fools who will be trying to book)...

Tom, I know I have read several times that they don't release new bookings for each timeframe. I think more just show up as people cancel what they have already booked. I do know they leave some % open to book onboard for Palo/Spa.

Arrrrgghh!!!! Which pirate: was in charge of checking the Birthday Calendar?

Who was looking into the "Mr. Emerald" private tour for Cartagena? I looked to see if there was some info on the Pirate Zone but couldn't locate it.

I would like to find out more?

A fly-by posting.....

His email is leland@misteremerald.com

I contacted him and he is very responsive. FYI - he is on vacation until May 22 and may not have access to email at times so he may not respond immediately.

I added this info on the piratezone.

I think the release a lot for 105 days, they can choose whatever they want, then at 90 days we CC members get the rest of this to pick, they do hold over some for 75 days but not a lot, and as said a lot are held back for the Port.

I just have to do this before returning to my regular posting.

This is my 17,000th post on the DIS!!!

Wendy, that is me. I will post the information about the tours when he gets it to me. I can tell you that there are going to be at least 2 choices one that is the Walled City/shopping and another Baru/Walled City/Shopping. I have told him that our excursions open on the 19th --so I am hopeful that I will get all the info this week. :)

Was a beautiful day. Well, inside the Church, anyway. Outside was rainy. But the Mass was awesome. Kylie read the Prayers of the Faithful. She did a great job.

Now that all of our First Communion planning is behind us, we are full steem ahead for cruise planning! We are SOOOO looking forward to Saturday!

Here is Kylie reading at Mass-

Hi

Welcome,

My kids are 12 and 9 Alice is 12 will be nearly 13 during the cruise, Stephen will had his 10th birthday just a day after the cruise.

They have been posting on the Kids thread, but Alice is away at guides camp this weekend Saturday mornnig, to Monday night.

Maybe you are right. Seems to be a poor way to get repeat cruisers, leave only the unpopular excursions for the newbies....

Did anyone watch the Derby yesterday? It ended up being a nice day, a little chilly. The race was great! Big Brown came from the 20th post to win the race. Eight Belles (the filly) placed 2nd, but collapsed after the race with 2 broken front legs and was euthanized 8 minutes later. It really put a damper on the race.:sad2:

Well, most 1st timers probably don't know what they are missing. I know our 1st cruise--we called in at the 75 day mark. None of this internet craziness.;)

Yes Paula I am interested on this as well, I have been there before, but not to impressed with DCL's offerings, but also do not want on DIY, on my own there, so interested in what he has to offer.

Maybe DCL think the new cruisers will not know the difference? I think they should allow you to book either as you book the cruise, or when you are PIF. and thats for everyone.
But DCL do not put this into action until 2010, as I am Cat 3 in 2009!!!:rotfl:

Andrew, can you imagine the overload their computers would have on their special cruises, we finally get our rooms booked and then head over to start booking the excursions, Palo and spa. They would probably never recover

Yes, but they will have to do something anyway to expand bandwidth, with the new ships, and they both are 1.5x the current ships, so really the expansion is from to 2 to 5. In normal circumstances this would work, and again with more ships and more routes, the 'special' cruises, will become less special, as there is more capacity. IE they may be ale to do 4 repos a year, each year.

Joel.....Thanks so much!!! So nice of you to think of Kylie yesterday :)

Congrats to Kylie!! Austyn likes your dress.

Trying to figure out why I couldn't make reservations last night. So far the agent and supervisor are both stumped. The show us as PIF, and the ressie has the vow renewal code on it, so we should be good to go, but we aren't.:confused3

You now have Tom and I really scared :scared1: about making ressies. I have the added bonus of breaking the news of the West coast swing and therefore only Pluto's Dog House will appear where Palo should be. :rotfl2:

Well, I don't think you can beat the value in the repo cruises. I look forward to some exciting itinerary changes. We didn't do the Med cruises--hope to do one the next time DCL ventures over. But we have done all the other cruises for the most part. We booked a RCCL for Thanksgiving--just to go to some new ports. St Maarten will be the only repeat for us.
