I just had to post a great, big Thank You to my Secret Mickey. When I came home from work today,I saw a note on the top of my mailbox. Thought ok,Kev must have a package that needs to be picked up at the post office.
Well,I pulled it off and it read "David's Florist" to "Debi Huffman" left at xxxx NE 47th St. (my neighbor). As I go and change clothes,I'm trying to think "Who sent me flowers and why?" :confused3
I went over and rang the doorbell and asked if there had been a delivery for me. "Yes,some very beautiful flowers!" I told her I had no idea who they were from or what the occassion could possibly be and that it better not be Kevin spending our vacation money! ;)
What a beautiful surprise I got when I opened the card...."Happy 100 days until the TOAL! I can't wait to meet you! Love, Secret Mickey" I wanted to cry. :sad1:
I only wish that I could take a picture and post it for you all(my puter is crashed,I'm on Kev's). I will have to describe it...White Roses,Light and Dark Pink Carnations,White Daisies, and Green Cone Flowers :flower3: . I promise to take a pic and post it when I get my carp together.

Thank you again. And I love you too!!

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss!

Congrats on PIF though!

Thanks for posting all those, Stacey!
Unfortunately really need the times to figure out some stuff- maybe I can bohter you later to look at JUST the few we have that need to 'coordinate' around another excursion or hoping is at the same time for portions of our family to do one thing while the rest is doing another? that would be too time consuming to pull up the times on every single item on that list!

Also unfortunately it looks like quite a few things listed on the website are not actually available on your list of actual things that can be booked and that is very disappointing. DCL really needs to be on top of this type of thing and delete things off their website listings of excursions if they aren't actually making them available to book. :(

All of the excursions have to be listed on the Shore Excursion pages. We are not the only cruise to be stopping at the ports. The Mexican Riveria cruises will be stopping there all summer.

What was the estimate? To have one dress taken in at the sides (I ordered it big) hemmed, and the shoulder straps shortened, it is costing me $115. :sad2: But, to shorten a skort, a top and the straps on another dress, all three were $50. Seems like a lot to me, but I don't know what the going rate is.

Haven't asked. I know he charges $7.00 to hem slacks.

THE PLANS

Some thoughts and plans for the cruise... (summarized on our website)

Pre Cruise Events

Official T-Shirts – Details click here
(Task Force Leader esteri)

We are putting together T-Shirts with the thread logo on the front and back, details and prices to be available shortly. The suggestion is to wear black for embarkation and white through the Panama Canal.

Pirates Wristbands – Mail order in May or June
Ordering details mid-May. Click for more info.

Post card surprise mailing from DL before cruise
(TASK FORCE LEADER NEEDED)
Wouldn’t it be great to have your loving kids, spouse, friend, etc. receive a post card mailed from Disneyland in the weeks before the cruise?

Mini Pirate Cruise Journals Task Force PM sk8ingmom to participate
We are taking a group approach to creating journals for the kids. There will be a double page spread for each day with a few activities (word search, solve a puzzle, find the answer to a question type of thing) related to where we were that day (examples from prior cruises: look for 6-toed cats in Key West, learn a few Spanish words in Costa Maya, etc.). On sea days, there will be some on-board things to do (how many steps is our room from the kids club, go down the Mickey slide at least 5x, how fast is the ship going right now). Creating the pages requires a little bit of kid-level research about each of the ports and and some creatve brain time making up activities. If we have enough interested parents, each person could volunteer to 'research' a port and come up with a few kid-level facts, questions, activities. Sk8ingmom would be happy to create the page layouts and .pdfs for people to download and print pre-cruise. Any takers? More details on Planning Boards

Saturday August 16, Disneyland

Disneyland DIS meet in the days prior to the cruise
(Task Force Leader DisneyPilots – PM to participate)

Meet and greet fellow Pirates at Disneyland in the days leading up to the cruise. Have a chance to begin connecting names, faces and DIS id’s before we embark on our journey.

Disneyland Fantasmic DIS meet (Task Force Leaders Bellelinus and got2travel )
Meet and greet fellow Pirates at Disneyland for Fantasmic! A few of the Pirates will be saving seats for the whole gang, sign up on the Planning Boards. The Fantasmic show at DL is different that WDW in that it is not in a stadium but the area surrounding the Rivers of America in Frontierland and New Orleans Square. The show is better since they use the actual ships that sail around the river.

Port Area Dinner Meet
For those who will be staying in the San Pedro area on August 16, a group of Pirates will be heading to an area restaurant for dinner and socializing. Visit the Planning Boards and say “hi” if you want to join us.

Port Area Tall Ships Display
For those who will be staying in the San Pedro area on August 16, the tall ships will be visiting the port area. Roger (Goofyonthehiseas) posted some details on the Planning Boards if you want to know more.

Sunday August 17

Charter bus/busses to pick up DISers from DL area hotels to take us to the port – PM SmeeCanada if interested
(Task Force Leaders - Grandma x3, Bellelinus, smeecanada)

This one is self-explanatory. Why worry about DCL transfers, taxis, limos, etc. We are looking to have a few stops at the Ho-Jo’s and Disneyland hotels to carry interested Pirates to the port. A brief stop at a grocery/liquor store is also being considered.

Meet and Greet at the Terminal
This one is self-explanatory. Once you have checked in, can see (and for some of us taste) the Disney Magic, look for the gang in their embarkation day T-Shirts (most in black). We will be grabbing some space in the terminal to shake hands, hug, laugh and say "Great to have a face to go with the DIS id, we can deal with names later!"

Meet and Greet during sail away
This one is self-explanatory. After you have grabbed something to eat, dumped the day bags at the room and are ready to hit the decks, look for the Pirate gang hanging out on Deck 10 by the ….. well, not sure where yet, but we will discuss the location and take lots of pictures of each other and the Sail Away Party!

Beer/Wine/Tequila/Martini Tastings (as a group) – e-mail to participate
(Task Force Leaders got2travel and MrsScooby)

Have you ever wanted to learn the difference between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc? Have you wondered whether the rule really is white with fish, red with beef? Does the term “shaken not stirred” mean anything to you other than James Bond ? Are you just as confused as I am.....Barley, Hops, Pilsner, Lager, Stout..... what does it all mean? “Lick, Slam, Suck” - no it's not x-rated but do you know what it means? Come join us for group tastings. We are working on arranging private tastings during our sea days. At this time we do not have specific details, but we are looking for a show of interest. We are requesting Wine, Beer, Tequila, Rum and Martini tastings. No, we will not be tasting all those at the same time. There will be separate sessions planned for each. And for those of you (like me ) who want to attend them all, they will be scheduled at different times. (And hopefully different days!) These will be exactly like the tastings that DCL regularly schedules, but will be limited to those folks in our group. Each tasting will cost $12-15 per person (subject to DCL's current rates).

Room Tour (Task Force Leader A Litle Pixie Dust – PM to participate)
Ever wonder how the other ½ lives? Take a tour of Category 12 up through Category ?? cabins to see what they look like. Volunteers needed to organize and to host with their cabins.

Kids Meet and Greet/Post Card Exchange (Task Force Leader Needed – discuss on the Planning Boards)
How about a hometown/home state postcard swap on the first sea day as a kids meet and greet? Each kid can bring postcards from their state or local area. On the back of the postcard a greeting can be written, including things like the state birds, motto and other news. We can bring a map of the world and see how many states and countries could be colored in - many children have not met so many others from different parts of the states/world. This information can then be used in a school report (for those who may be missing school, great way to show the educational value of this trip). You can go to the local Dollar stores for postcards. You can go to websites that list the various songs, mottos, mascots of the state and print these and paste them to the back. A screen name can be included for reference. Other suggestions include a scrapbook or journal for the trip. Visit the Planning Boards and discuss.

Cabo Wabo Tequila and Fun – Group event
Before heading back to the ship, stop by Cabo’s hot spot, owned by Sammy Hagar for a shot of Tequila or just some fun with the Pirates

Cabo Dolphins
A few of the Pirates are thinking about doing the Cabo Dolphins on their own or through DCL. If you are interested, post on the thread and they will tell you what they have planned. (DCL may have booked all available openings, check with Cabo Dolphins for non-DCL availability).

Boat Tour of Lands End
A number of the beach goers are thinking of swinging out to see the Los Arcos formation either on the way to or from the beach. We will look at whether a large charter or smaller glass bottom boats are easiest to arrange. Discuss it on the Planning Boards.

Post Cruise Plans and Thoughts

PiratePass Photo CD/DVD and photo sharing website

All of the excursions have to be listed on the Shore Excursion pages. We are not the only cruise to be stopping at the ports. The Mexican Riveria cruises will be stopping there all summer.
Huh?
I'm going to the website- clicking on 15nt eastbound cruise and clicking on the ports there to find the info. they shouldn't have it listed and able to find it that way if they aren't DOING it for our cruise. I did not just go looking up ports off the website- i went to this specific cruise first and went off links there. KWIM?

and why would they get to do those things but not us on the long cruise? OH let me guess- same reason they can do REAS but we can't? :confused3 :rotfl:

I noticed on the list posted here it also does not show the evening horseback riding excursions in PV nor the rhythms of night excursion in PV... so only daytime excursions when we're there till 11:30pm. okay whatever DCL.. all I can say is it's disappointing. :(

Thanks...

... these "unpleasant discoveries" have given me a continuious (lite) headache these past couple of days. Sort of a touchy thing too - leaves me kind of in an odd mental state.

So ... guess what I'm eating about now... real guesses please ... and NO need to post your guesses... just scroll down when you have a guess in mind.

That's all of them. It doesn't list the times, because I'd have to open each and every one of them to check the times.

Pizza just walked in the door and then I'm watching my shows. Later!!

The flowers are from a very special person to a very special person!!! How wonderful!!!:flower3: :flower3:

OT..has it been decided what morning is PJ breakfast? I am so confused any more! sorry!

Not that I know of. Not sure who stepped up to lead this task force.

Maybe a need for another poll? Or is there one already?

I'll head up the PJ breakfast if you want me to. I think the best thing to do at this point would be to wait until when (if?) DCL gives us the schedule for theme nights, and then maybe start a new poll to pick a day. That way, we'll also be beyond the 90 booking window and people will know their Palo brunch and possibly spa ressie days. I know we won't be able to make everyone happy, but we'll put it up to majority rules.

My finals started today, so I might not be in too much, but I'll try to browse and see what y'all think.

I used to poke myself in my eye in high school and pretend it was pink eye.. I would go down to the nurse and she would send me home!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And I thought that you were innocent?!?!

Hi Gang,
I'll be checking in sporadically - but yesterday my FIL passed away so I've got a lot of family stuff to do.

And good luck on Finals!!

First of all, I will remind you I am in the mortgage industry. SO, being that the company I work for has not been in the news (whew) and we are basically taking over numerous transactions for people whose original lender has gone out of business or is in the news too much...

I have heard stories that are truly mind boggling. Some things some lenders (or realistically their sales people, mostly brokers) have done to consumers is just horrific! There are many many good people in the industry on both the banking and brokerage side, but the bad apples just seem to be able to ruin peoples lives to make personal gain, and they just don't seem to care! UGH! I will spare you the details, but DOUBLE UGH! The worst part is the because of the depressed home values, there are many that we can't help.

Secondly, GO CRASH! If you can save even 1 person from financial downfall, GO! :woohoo:

Well...

.... as some may know, I'm in the financial service business too. Been so for over 20 years now and what you are speaking of is exactly how I feel. In my career I've litterally had dealings with many many MANY producers - with the vast majority being hard working souls of good integrity. And it is exactly a few nasty individuals who give our trade a bad rub. Now - the idea of selling unregistered securities that amount to being ponzi schemes - well - that is NOT my trade (obviously). The fact that the individual in question is up to something WITH some of the folks working for me - well - that is something I cannot tolerate.

I've since determined that the scale of losses currently stands at 428 million. The principal is being held in jail and some of his colleauges have been identified and charged. Civil lawsuits are being tossed about. And I believe the sales person I am thinking of - well - he has been doing business dabbling in many different trades - my specific field being one - while he has engaged in several others. Mortgage sales being another that I happen to know he CRASHED in as well. In fact - the manner in which it folded was almost as comical as it was tragic.

You gotta figure - in EVERY trade there are bad eggs. We have bad priests, bad white collar workers who have destroied big firms (like the hedge firm failures by Brian Hunter http://www.usatoday.com/money/markets/2007-03-23-amaranth_N.htm ), and we have had bad school teachers who are sometimes pediphiles, and heck - you name it and you'll find yourself scratching your head in bemused astonishment, no doubt. Truly.... doctors, lawyers (demon pork excluded), executives and housewives.... and even house husbands too (myslef excluded, of course on account of my universal INNOCENCE). Why... even bad KIDS who have been caught doing horriffic things. Technically, the only ones who I belive are truly totally innocent are toddlers and younger!

At any rate, I agree... a few bad ones give a trade or industry a bad rap. Yeah.... if its' a ONE in a MILLION thing.... in this country of 300 million we'd have 300 of these one in a million BAD instances. It's a total shame that GOOD events that are one in a million rarely make the news. it's the bad news that gains attendance and consequently generates advertising dollars.

Oh well.... back to trying to catch up - I only got maybe 200-225 postings or so to go.
