We had some protests when it came through SF but for the most part it was civilized. Probably due to the huge Chinese community we have here.

Overall not a lot TV coverage will show the ''highlights''

There was some discussion a while back about trying to book Palo brunch the same day. Is that still an idea? Any particular day people are booking? I know on Andrew's thread there was some talk of the Panama Canal Day being a popular choice.

Getting upset here! Been trying for a couple of days to access my DCL Reservation and I can't get past the Sign In page. The one where it says enter Res.# and Birthdate,keeps sending me back to it over and over again!!!

Andrew, I was looking at the panama canal thread you started on the main cruise thread. Looking at the navigator you posted, it looks like the goofy pool will be closed the day of the crossing. Is that true?

Well, DH and I spent most of our morning on the phone with Delta. Seems that they too are implementing the only 1 checked bag allowed - For each bag thereafter, you will incur the $25 fee. We thought.....well the other airlines are doing it so we understand HOWEVER we figured they would follow suit and like other airlines, only implement the change for tickets bought after a certain date.

NOt so.............we bought our tickets last November and it does not matter -we will still have to pay the extra baggage fee. SO DH called Delta this morning and confirmed it - Delta does not even have anything on their website about it yet BUT they are continuing to sell tickets to passengers under the assumption that 2 checked bags are still allowed

Dh was not so happy when he got off the phone and wrote a very long and not so nice letter explaing why its wrong for Delta to charge this extra $$ to existing ticket holders also threatened to contact congressmen, travel agencies, news channels, etc. if something wasn't done.

If you are holding Delta tickets, I urge you to file a complaint. I'll keep you posted if we hear anything.

Gone with the wind
Last night DH & I went to London to watch the forst preview of the above musical. An epic book, epic film & a 3hr45 musical!!!!!! It started at 7.30 pm & we finally left the theatre at 11.40pm - luckily we were not relying on public transport to get us home. I love the book & the film, but the musical was far too long. The writer remained true to the book (admirable) but meant there was lots that could be binned, e.g. Scarlett's first 2 children. There were other annoyances like when some-one knocked on the door i.e. actor stamped the stage, they actually pretended to open it! Also the whole scene where Bonnie falls of a horse was "lets pretend" there is a girl & a pony - weird! It doesn't officially open until 24 April & is booking until September, but in its current format I can't see it surviving.

For those of you that saw the flishes.....I can't help it if I have a dyslexic keyboard and/or malfunctioning fingers!

Well we had about 2 inches of s*ow this morning so made a lovely snowman - Hermione's first ever & the schools are now off for 2 weeks, however this week I still have to go to work. Lauren is busy though with 3 days of football (soccer) school at Reading FC & a gym class!

Hope everyone's had a good week-end.

I'm really looking to PIF for everyone so not just excursion bookings etc. can happen, but we can start identifying gifts etc. for our SM & working our FE gifts too

Now their Contract of Carriage says:

flights in Delta’s sole discretion. For travel on/after May 1, 2008, Delta will accept a maximum of one
checked bag and one carry-on item free of charge. All baggage must meet the size and weight limits set
forth in this rule to qualify for the free baggage allowance. Delta may accept additional, larger, or heavier
items as checked baggage when space is available, but will require the payment of an excess baggage fee,
as set forth in this rule.

But this was effective March 8, 2008, you should get a copy of the prior one (somewhere on the internet).

It also provides:

D. Amendments to Conditions of Carriage
1. Amendment by Delta
Delta may amend these Conditions of Carriage at any time. Your travel will be governed by the rules that
are in effect on the date your travel begins. In the event that we amend these Conditions of Carriage in a
way that materially affects the terms and conditions of your ticket purchase after you have purchased your
ticket but before your travel begins, and you do not agree to be bound by the rules as amended, you may
request a full refund of your ticket price.

I would complain to Delta, your state's consumer fraud department, the BBB and everyone who will listen. Also, do some internet research and send a complaint to the President or Chairman of Delta.

I just went to the DCL contact us page and sent the following:

I am booked to travel on the Panama Canal cruise in August. We can begin booking excursions, Palo, etc on May 19.

Can you please provide the on-board schedule for theme, formal and semi-formal nights so that we may reserve Palo, etc. accordingly?

If I remember correctly, it wasn't available for westbound until the week or so before their 90 day window....

OH MY !!!!!!

DH and I just booked Continental out of Erie, PA - for 119.00
It is just about 15 miles farther than flying out of Cleveland and costs 200.00 cheaper - kicker is we fly through Cleveland..... BUT we will be in LAX around 10:30am....

We decided not to wait any longer and decided to choose and airline one can "trust". and before the add the extra baggage fees.

Hi. I see that you and a few others on here (Joel & Deanna) are from Ohio. I am an Ohio native myself, born in Cleveland. Both of my parents grew up in Euclid, and I actually have an aunt and uncle living in Mentor. I also have aunts in Madison and Dublin (near Columbus). I lived in the Cleveland area until I was in the 7th grade...that's when we moved to New Mexico. Talk about a change of scenery!

I feel like I am the only one who hasn't gotten one. Has anyone who booked with DU gotten theirs? I think once I get mine it will settle in that I am really going this time (had to cancel the 1st PC cruise)

Haven't got ours yet either so you are not alone! An I am very impatient right now!!!(excitement is building!)

I contacted our TA and she said she hasn't recieved them yet to send out...she contacted DCL and I guess they are en route!

Sounds like we could have a book swap going. I'll read it and pass it on to the next exasperated parent

Today has been a good day so far....I saw my niece and nephew for the 1st time in a long time! It was good to see they were as excited as I was...and it was a totally covert operation too!

It was for a short time while they prepared the Deck BBQ, whilst it was open and while they tidied up, it then re opened later, it was either side of the goofy pool.
