You guys are so good at dispensing advice, thought I'd ask....Should I go ahead with laser eye surgery? It will cost £400 ($800) per eye, hurt like hell for a couple of days, unable to drive for a week, but once fully healed should have 20/20 visioni.e. no glasses/contact lenses required:banana: . From what the consultant said, I should also wait until after TOAL as you can't be in strong sunlight for a couple of months after treatment.
a) Anyone out there been through this?
b) Is it a good price? I would consider a trip abroad for a better price (recovery in WDW sounds good !)

TIA

Celestine

I had lasik back in May 2004. Mine was more expensive then (I forget the exact amount) but it included eye exams for the year and any repeat treatments needed. I also had a trip to Ca planned that year a few weeks later. All I was told was not to go swimming for at least a month after the surgery.
Now I had been wearing contacs for many years at that point and never had dry eye issues prior to surgery so that may have had an effect on my results:confused3
No pain:thumbsup2
They gave me plenty of meds in advance for the first day-eye drops, valium and pain killers. I wound up sleeping the rest of the day with a pair of goggles on. The goggles are to keep you from accidentally rubbing your eyes. I did have slightly dry eyes at first, but drops helped that and eventually it subsided.
My eyes are still sensitive to bright sunlight so I always have at least 2 pairs of sun glasses (one for car and one for purse). Sun glasses are also good for keeping crows feet away too:rolleyes1

A friend of mine went to the same place and she was very uncomfortable the first night:confused3 But she was fine after that.

Also, now one of my eyes was 20/20 and the other slightly less. They asked me if I wanted them to redo the one eye, but I decided against it. I'm over 40 and the slight undercorrection in one eye helps me avoid reading glasses for a while longer. Plus I never notice it unless I check by comparing eyes.

I would think that now is as good a time as any to get it done:confused3
I love the freedom from contacs:cloud9:

Good luck:thumbsup2

I had Lasik a couple of years ago. I guess overall I am glad I had the surgery but I am not 20/20 and I now have dry-eye. I went to the Opthamologist that had done more Lasik surgeons than anyone in the world. :sad2: Did not help me any.

I have heard of some having issues with dry eyes. I guess everyone is a bit different when it comes to that:confused3

I'll just go around and ask everyone, "You seem familiar, have I threatened you before?" Oops! That would be the Captain's line!pirate:

Thanks to my secret mickey (Crash) I have a name tag already:woohoo:

But just as a reminder, I'm hard of hearing, so if you call my name (any name) I may not hear you, especially if my back is turned:confused3

My wife who was very dependent on her glasses had it done. Her first comment on getting in the car to go home after the surgery (took all of 25 minutes) was "Wow this car is filthy" (her car). She could see sooooo much better right away.

Wrapping paper. That's how I figured it out at about 8. Santa and my parents, not only have similar hand writing, but they used the same wrapping paper.

I've been really careful about handwriting and wrapping paper, managed to keep the magic going for a bit longer. Though I did tell DS10 that we do the stockings - Santa just brings the big presents. After all, Santa needs a bit of help. He was starting to get suspicious about the stockings based on conversation. DS10 has also figured out about the tooth fairy.

DS6, however, is still absorbed in the magic. He left a note for the tooth fairy two teeth ago asking her what she does with all the teeth. Her answer? "I collect the teeth to make strong fairy houses." Who knew? :confused3
.

That is so sweet! I remember when my cousin Linda was a kid,she found one of her Beagle's teeth on the floor. She decided to put it under her pillow,in hopes for an easy reward from the TF. She got one alright....a nice,juicy.....Bone for Tiny. :lmao:

Just to help with your proposal, consider the above edits.

 Two years ago when we were pitching a project to them, my predecessor and 2 other people went to Coke. They got to sample a new product...and it was awful! "MMmmmm this stuff is great!"

Read this last month in Al Lutz's article. Don't know if Coca Cola makes ice cream :confused3 . The big thing for us is that Carnation is owned by Nestle and they are talking about renaming a couple of the restaurants that are named Carnation at DL. Also McDonald's looks like it will be ending its relationship with Disney as well. I know CA has a modified McD's and a couple of FF stands in DL but not sure if there is any at WDW.

There are FF stands and also a Mickey D's in Downtown Disney....or is it Pleasure Island.:confused3
