I volunteer to be the bad influence! I say spend you DD bday at WDW! (I have spent a few at WDW and it is awesome!) Better than spending it on a plane! Plus, what is one more missed day of school-it is just the begining!

Chrissie
(and an FYI-I am a teacher!)

Go for the birthday at WDW! Make sure you get the birthday button at the parks so everyone makes a fuss over her Big Day! My DS loved the attention when we did this! Plus.... it's gonna be difficult to fly on 9/1 anyway... everyone else is trying to get home:goodvibes

-Penny

Given the age of your kids and the understanding of the school, I think staying the extra day for WDW would be fine:thumbsup2 Much better than spending her birthday traveling:confused3
My son starts high school in September:scared1: so we really want to get him home in time for the first day (9/2).

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I really would rather spend DD's birthday at WDW than traveling. I guess I will have to wait until SW publishes their schedule for our return trip to see what's available and what the fares are like. If nothing else, maybe we can take a later flight on the 1st and spend most of the day at WDW. I did make a (late) breakfast and a dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's for DD's birthday. Once I purchase our tickets home, I can figure out which one I want.

Found this review of the new Toy Story Mania ride at CA and Hollywood Studios coming in June. This is the most detail description that I have seen yet. Seems the DIS will not allow me to link to Magical Mountain so here is the story.

This sounds like a lot of fun...can't wait to try it! DD (3.5) has just recently discovered Toy Story, and it is currently her favorite movie! :thumbsup2

Imagine, me being you... Do your charging priviledges come with your name??
:rotfl:

Well... You're in the lower 48 aren't you?

OK, I'll bring white name tags and a purple pen. We can see how many DISers we can "stick"... :rotfl2:

Wrapping paper. That's how I figured it out at about 8. Santa and my parents, not only have similar hand writing, but they used the same wrapping paper.

I've been really careful about handwriting and wrapping paper, managed to keep the magic going for a bit longer. Though I did tell DS10 that we do the stockings - Santa just brings the big presents. After all, Santa needs a bit of help. He was starting to get suspicious about the stockings based on conversation. DS10 has also figured out about the tooth fairy.

DS6, however, is still absorbed in the magic. He left a note for the tooth fairy two teeth ago asking her what she does with all the teeth. Her answer? "I collect the teeth to make strong fairy houses." Who knew? :confused3
.

I always used different paper for the Santa gifts. Then a few years ago, I found some Star Wars Christmas paper. DS saw it a few weeks before Christmas. I had been hiding it to wrap the Santa gifts. So Santa left a thank you note telling DS that mom let him borrow some paper because we both knew that he loved Star Wars so much. Crisis averted.

Hey all! TRYING to catch up but back on page 183  I have 4 PMs to catch up on and no time for ketchup. Darn foods here. Catching up on this slows phone. Be back later.

Have your accountant file the return electronically and send the $$ via wire transfer, that should put you into the wire group, not the paper group???

He sent electronically in February without the bank route numbber because we owe money.:sad2: :sad2: I did not send the check yet!!!:rolleyes1

As I read it no, but then reading IRS stuff is like reading mud....

It sure does....dirty yucky mud!!!

as in 000-00-0091 or the 91st issued ever?

(sorry M, think Cheryl needed explaining)

I knew it was the last two digits of SS. Are you trying to make an old lady go more senile???

Oh, so John is much younger! (see above Cheryl) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Actually........his is 3 months younger than me!!! I go for boy toys!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Why is Earl wearing you speedo? :lmao: :lmao:

I am so trying to be good now!!!  :lmao: :lmao:

Random Thought Re: Pajama Breakfast (OK a day or 2 late...)

We shouldn't pick a day for this until we know what the character breakfast schedule will be.

I'm not sure we will know before we board. At least I didn't know last time. Besides the way they do it now, it's really not worth it. Granted I never did the old way. But I was underwhelmed with the character breakfast we had on the Med. There is very little character interaction. They don't come to you table. They only do a couple of dances in the middle of the room with the little kids. And a parade around the room. I'd skip it this time, except DS will probably want to go.

We finally got the school calendar for next year (well, it is posted on the district website - I'm sure most parents don't have it yet) and DS will miss 5 days of 4th grade. I was hoping it would be only 3 (same as this year would have been). But at least it isn't as bad as the schedule 2 years ago - he would have missed 8 days.

I am going to talk to the principle next month and try and get them to assign his teacher before the end of this year. They usually don't assign them until the week before school starts and then they post the list on the school door! I don't think I will have much luck looking at that list and trying to contact the teacher from the Magic :rotfl2: :teacher:

Part of my argument is that I don't want the poor teacher to be taking roll each day and wondering where the heck is this kid... Also, if we can work with her before we go, we might be able to take care of any organizational stuff that DS will be missing - you know, the silly stuff they do the 1st week of school like label their folders.

Pamela

Our school calendar was posted on Jan. 1, and I thought that was late! I couldn't imagine having to wait another 3 months! Don't these schools realize that some of us need to plan our vacations! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Our school also posts the class lists on the door, usually a day or two before school starts. Our principal did ask me to email her this summer and remind her about our trip (and the kids missing the first week of school). She told me that if the class assignments are done at that time, she will let me know who the kids' teachers are going to be. Even if the teachers aren't assigned before we go, hopefully she'll at least let the teachers know why my kids aren't in school. Thankfully, our PTA takes orders for prepackaged school supplies in the spring. I'll be able to get those ordered this year, and my kids' supplies will be waiting for them when they get to school in the fall!:thumbsup2

No, was more hitting the "old lady" part, you have the 91st Soc. Sec. # ever issued... just loses the fun when I have to explain it...

:lmao: OK, Who else is thinking they are a tiny bit dreading the cruise as this daily does of anecdotes and revelry will be over. :guilty:

It'll never end... We still "talk" to some of the people we hooked up for a 2005 cruise. Besides, we'll be too busy on the ship to surf the net.

That's Tom's Speedo. He just wanted Earl's name on it.
:)

I *soooo* don't want to know.

I have a feeling that this thread (and the many that follow) will be like the Energizer Bunny...

...it just keeps going and going and going and going....

PS Sounds like your first surgery went well. How are you feeling?
Best wishes for an easy 2nd surgery and a speedy recovery!

I think you are right. :thumbsup2

The stitches had a big sticky gauze type stuff (Xeroform) on them when I left the hospital. They said it would fall off on its own in 2-3 days. Well I guess it is drying up because it is getting smaller but as it shrinks, it is taking part of my face w/ it, pulling my skin. I am ready for the dang thing to just falloff but that will leave the stitches exposed and I will really look pretty then. :lmao:

You guys are so good at dispensing advice, thought I'd ask....Should I go ahead with laser eye surgery? It will cost £400 ($800) per eye, hurt like hell for a couple of days, unable to drive for a week, but once fully healed should have 20/20 visioni.e. no glasses/contact lenses required:banana: . From what the consultant said, I should also wait until after TOAL as you can't be in strong sunlight for a couple of months after treatment.
a) Anyone out there been through this?
b) Is it a good price? I would consider a trip abroad for a better price (recovery in WDW sounds good !)

TIA

Celestine

OK - something happened to my post - had to wait until I came home to see if it posted - now its time for another life appt which I cannot miss - I am truly  Doesn't life know that I need my dose of DIS? I've missed 5 days and am basically 40 pages behind.

Anybody else feel like the White Rabbit from Alice? Or is it the Cheshire Cat? Either way - I need some of the stuff he's smoking to calm these nerves :upsidedow

Be back later - :wave2:

OVER...never... just think for 15 days you'll have the real deal in stereo perhaps.... (well if there's more than one of us around)

Plus, it will lead up to the booking day for the "reunion" cruise on the new ships!

OK Daddy Warbucks....

Get Cadburys to make Mickey bars!!!

Starbucks can do the coffee.

I'll second.... However, i thought you disliked Hershey's, Andrew?

A good surgeon is more expensive here. One of my co-workers just had it done in January. He's doing fine. Me i'd do it except the eye dr's can't guarantee yet that you still wouldn't need glasses or contacts again later in life.

The only one smoking anything in "Alice" is the Catepillar.

Now, Breathe....

You know we're not talking about anything important. Just jump back in when you get free and let us know how you are.

Hi Celestine ... I had Lasik done 2 years ago, and my only complaint is I should have done it sooner. I went with TLC and it was a bit more than that :scared1:, but again worth ever penny. I still have some issues with night vision, but nothing barring me from driving. I found no pain after the surgery and was able to drive 2 days later, but had to wear dark sunglasses for a week due to sensitivity in the sun. Hope this helps.

Again with TLC, you have a guarentee for life, as long as you see a TLC approved optometrist once a year. With this guarentee, you won't have to pay to get your eyes re-lasered, however, the adjustment has to be in a certain range. Also, having lasik will not take away the need for reading glasses. They are a fact of life as you get older!
