Diane, I am totally with you on the "I'm just not going to dwell on this" aspect of food safety!

Thanks for your comments -- below is a picture of the middle daughter as Charlotte (she had a web on an upper level, but this was taken afterwards when it was easier to see the costume). She pointed out that she died in both her productions this year! Charlotte's death really, really got to me, but Captain Hook's was silly, of course. I congratulated the girl who played the crocodile afterwards and she said, "Thanks. Sorry I ate your daughter." which is certainly not something you hear that often!

Julie, your girls look great, and I bet they had a blast doing the plays. I used to love being in plays in school. At least until they switched to doing all musicals. There's a reason why I got booed singing karaoke.

HEY ALL! JUST DOING MY JOB!

SECRET MICKEY SIGN-UPS STILL BEING TAKEN!

Couple of changes - I now have a different assistant - Paula of pbader has graciously volunteered to step in and help me. So if anyone would rather - you can sign up with her. :confused3 OK - either one of us will do.

ALSO - NEW CHANGE -

This is also open to couples. Many of you may have the same situation as I - where DH likes to see - but not really openly participate (although they help you find presents) - so if you like chose - you can sign up as one - the SM will just have the option to get ONE OR THE OTHER a gift - or alternate - you are not required to get both a gift unless you want.

Also, since trip is hitting a little hard than I thought - I don't want to lose anybody due to finanacial hardships - so instead I am "RECOMMENDING" a $25-$30 max.

I TRULY encourage people to put ingenuity into their gifts - and to hunt the bargain tables and racks for gifts that may qualify. For example, one cruise, DH who likes business and money - his SM got him a business oriented magazine with a man sitting on a exuberent car fanning $100 bills. We just thought this was great. There's lots of options out there - so as the guidelines state - minimum requirements - a minimum of 5 gifts with at least one nice gift. The rest is up to you - if you chose to go more gifts - or just the minimum - the important thing is that you have fun and get some laughs out of it.

I hope you all consider joining - this is going to be fun. Unveiling will most likely occur on one of the last sea days. To be determined at a later date.

Come All - Sign Up!

No, I personally wish it was illegal, but scalping is perfectly legal these days in New York. . . in the past it was illegal to make a profit on them, they had to be sold at face value or less, but no longer.

And you can of course get tremendous deals if you are willing to wait just outside until the game is beginning (even just the National anthem) and take the tickets that are beginning to look worthless off some scalper's hands . . .

That's what I typically do....Drives my DW nuts. I actually get some sick enjoyment out of bartering with the scalpers. We went to see the Reds in Milwaukee last September. The game was soldout and we went to the stadium ticketless... She starts to get that nervousness "What if we flew all the way up here and don't get in" talk going. We walked up to the ticket window to check and they had just released some VIP type seats...we were about 25 rows up from first base.

Try one of you local stadiums and see if they can get tickets, sometimes another team can get tickets to unavailable games.... (e.g Cleveland or Cincinati).

Thanks...hadn't heard that on the pro level. I knew college teams sometimes get an allotment for away games.

Thanks so much for that bright and cheery news, Debbie Downer! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Seriously, thanks for the info (now I will pretend I never clicked on that llink . . .)

You're welcome!

It sounded like good news overall, but it might get the FARC worked up.

Hey Everybody - just doing a quick :drive: while I am in-between errands. Cold and grey and cold - and did I mention cold here in grey and cloudy Norwalk - a high of 58 is predicted but my phone says 59.

My bones hurt - am trying to warm them up - DH says I have the hands of a cold fish - (as long as he doesn't add cold, dead fish to I'm fine with that)

Anyway, I wonder if there will be a part 4 by the time I get back.

Missed chat last night - was it fun? Anything I missed. Roger - e-mailed you my RSVP. Anything else? Nope for now. Later

Julie - I :lovestruc your pictures - but OMG! She's only 13??????? Wow - I love how they all look different yet I see you in each one of them. You Go Girl! Your youngest looks sweet - don't you wish they all stayed that way?

BTY, anyone read that story about the Broadway actor that played the Beast on Beauty and the Beast? Pleaded guilty to misdeanor child endangerment of a minor for having inappropriate sexual contact with a 15 yo several years back. Then a month later - she ended up at his apartment. Long story short - he plead guilty and since its a misdemenor does not have to register as a sex offender. :confused3

Hi Laura!!!! Yes, remember this is the middle one (the redhead is the oldest and of course you know Meredith!) -- she does not look 13, I know . . . she's going to be tall, too. Thanks for saying you see me in all of them -- the youngest looks just like me as a child -- really, like a clone, my sister just said that when looking at her on stage the other night -- but sometimes I can't see it in the others.

Yes, that story about the B'way actor is sad, sad . . . one of my best friends was a violinist in the B'way pit of "Beauty"and knew him . . . I don't think he was beast when my girls were hanging out in the orchestra pit (thank goodness!) . . .

Reminder to all: for a good laugh, let's get Mike drunk and have him try karaoke . . .:lmao:

It sounded like good news overall, but it might get the FARC worked up.

Having the nerve to try is 99% of the way there, to get tickets . . . if everyone had the nerve to do it, it wouldn't work . . .

Yep, that Debbie Downer was exactly the one I was thinking of . . .:lmao:

I would like to echo Andrews' admonishments here. My spouse and I tend to be paranoid about what we dine on in Mexico - as we have had issues in the distant past. We've been skeptical of the source of the problem - and we've narrowed the scrutiny upon the salads or dishes which we suspect were washed with unpotable water or handled improperly somehow. AND this adverse experience was encounered in a nice/decent Mexican Restuarant south of the border.

Alternatively, just carry I-AD and you'll be OK too... plus maybe a spare set of underwear in a zip lock... just in case! < wink, with a twisted frown >

Question; Is that $25-30.00 total or each? And,did you get my info?

I am!

So here is an update.....

The number just came up again..so I answered....
Very nicely I said "I do not wish to participate and answer your questions,I am on the do not call list and want you to remove my name from you call list...I do not expect to have any more calls from your company. Thank you have a good night"

Not a minute later my phone rang again...it was them!:headache:
I picked up and said hello....no reply..but i heard background noise...
I said "I just told you I was NOT interested and NOT to call again and you call right back! I hope this is being recorded..I find your practices of persistent calling and harrassment intolerable!Do NOT call me again!".....I hear CLICK!

ARRRGGGH!

Chrissie

I am so far behind so I only read that last 20 or so pages. I just had to comment on this one.
When I do get the rare call like this I turn the tables and ask them if they would be interested in purchasing window treatments. (This is what my business is) I go on an on about how great they are and that they are custom made etc. Usually, they hang up or I get some dumb comment about how they don't have windows.
When my DD16 answers these type of calls she just sets the phone down next to the screaming bird cage, That usually works well too.

Attention!

Shopaholic Wenches ...
& Shopaholic CrossDressing Swabbies...

SO all told, Alicia sez she only spent about $135.80 for $772 in goods (plus she saved sales tax on 636.20 = about $50 alone!) for a total of 82.4% off ... so these things above represent 90% of her purchases yesterday. Overall... I think these dresses and boots look much much better in real life then in the photos. Go figure? :goodvibes

Great buys. I went to my Macy's but they only had 30% the clearance prices so I didn't even bother.

Question for those who set up DID ID's for their kids:

Who did you email to get their accounts activated?

I set up my 3 kids each with an ID, but I need to give my permission so the DIS will activate them. My oldest just read the kids thread and wants to post, so I guess I'll let him do it under my name for now.

I need to know too. Haven't set my son's ID up yet because I haven't had access to a fax. I'll need to email my approval.

Group Tastings

P1010301.jpg
100_1604-1.jpg

Have you ever wanted to learn the difference between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc? Have you wondered whether the rule really is white with fish, red with beef? Does the term “shaken not stirred” mean anything to you other than James Bond :cool2: ? Are you just as confused as I am.....Barley, Hops, Pilsner, Lager, Stout.....:confused3 what does it all mean? “Lick, Slam, Suck” - no it's not x-rated but do you know what it means?

Come join us for group tastings. We are working on arranging private tastings during our sea days. At this time we do not have specific details, but we are looking for a show of interest. We are requesting Wine, Beer, Tequila, Rum and Martini tastings. No, we will not be tasting all those at the same time. There will be separate sessions planned for each. And for those of you (like me ) who want to attend them all, they will be scheduled at different times. (And hopefully different days!) These will be exactly like the tastings that DCL regularly schedules, but will be limited to those folks in our group. Each tasting will cost $12-15 per person (subject to DCL's current rates).

If you are interested in signing up, please send an email to Laurie (MrsScooby) at mrsscoobie@yahoo.com -- take note, Scoobie is spelled differently in the email address. Please provide your Name, DISBoard Name, Tasting preference (or choose LUSH for all tastings :drinking1 ), and how many people for each tasting.

As we get more details we'll let you all know. We are hoping to have the schedule prior to boarding.

Hello!

I was asking some questions on the main disney cruise board thread and they refrered me to this thread.

I was just wondering if you all wouldn't mind helping me out with some questions my party and I have as time goes on?? It would be a huge help!

You all seem like a nice friendly bunch and I certainly wouldn't want to intreupt any of your discussion!

A little background about myself:

I'll be 28 this 2/29, yes a leap year baby. My wife and I will be on this cruise along with her entire immeadiate family and some of their friends as well. I may be new to these boards, but not to many others on the net. I regret not coming to this site earlier.

We are Disney nuts! I've been a DVC member since my junior year of college when I jumped in with pretty much my life savings! (just to give you an idea of how much we love all things mouse.)

We love to cruise, however, this is the first time we will be on a Disney ship. Which is basically why I'm seeking help from any past cruisers or those who have already made their plans.

Sorry for the interuption, and I thank you so much for any help.

Thanks!

Hi & Welcome!
Also, happy birthday a day late... My DS is also a Leaper! He turned 3 (12) yesterday!

Hi everyone! Just taking a few minutes away from the house-cleaning to do some ketchup here on the DIS....

OK - I give up - what is USAA? - USAA is an insurance company mostly for active military but they give memberships if you are prior military too. My Dad was in the military so I qualify for using them. They have very good financial products.

I have been using Earplanes for nearly 10 years when I fly. They have been a godsend for me. They are a little different from regular earplugs - if you look through the blue plastic you can see a small insert, supposedly that is what slowly regulates the air pressure change in your ear. Once the plane is at it cruising altitude for a while, you can take them out (as long as you get them in again before the decent starts!) Before these, flying was incredibly painful - my ears wouldn't "pop" and the pressure would just build and build. I won't even get on a plane without these now!

I just posted on the tech support board and a webmaster emailed me within an hour or two....

Laurie - Certainly, I'll try and do designs for anyone here! Obviously, there are only so many hours in a day, so some advance notice so I have a few weeks to fit it in is very helpful.

Pamela

Thanks! I would love our names. What is the best way to get you our requests. This is very nice of you to offer.

My neice was in town this weekend so we went to see Penelope tonight. What an adorable movie! Just a cute sweet movie. A feel good evening.
A typical Saturday- soccer and eating out. Miranda is quite the soccer player stuck on a very average team. It is rec league so not many options. She has scored every game except 2 for the last 3 1/2 years. A lot of times she is the only one who scores. Bill started coachnig but we have at least half the team that thinks the ball is deadly and should be avoided at all costs. Makes winning games tough.

Hey folks, I was just cruising through the kids thread -- mostly because I clicked it in error -- but I'm wondering if we should warn our kids about posting their city, school names, email addresses, myspace or IM names.

I'm real paranoid about putting too much information out there. I don't want anything out there that could help someone find my child. I even refuse to put the honor roll bumper stickers on my car.
