Great pictures M! I love the first one of the boys outside the fence.
Photographically (is that a word? We lawyers tend to just make them up) this is a great shot!
That's my favorite too. The other parents were taking pics of the kids sitting on the wall when we walked up. I took one or two that way, then told the kids to turn around.
Very cute pictures. Now see, you would not have had that experience if you had stayed in Alaska. Don't you feel better? Yeah...did not think so.
Nah, in Alaska all I got to do was hang out with the congressional delegation, attend the governor's innaugural ball, and meet Scotty Gomez (NHL star) and assorted winter olympians.
Seriously, you're right, this is very much a once in a lifetime thing that could only happen here.
M, what wonderful memories your DS and you will have. It is not too many of us that get to get that close to the President.
I've been in the same vicinity as 43 twice now. Other than that, the closest I've been was in HS. Our HS band got to entertain the crowds waiting for Reagan to show up-I was on the dance team. We performed in the freezing cold for 3 hours in order to have the honor of watching his limo go by.
There was mild chuckling.
He mentions the Ice Dogs about 4 minutes in.
And how about the Northern Virginia Ice Dog Mites hockey team? (Applause.)
The Ice Dogs -- (laughter) -- are here to see the Ducks. (Laughter.) I bet
you guys want to be Stanley Cup champs some day, too, don't you? Well, here
they are; you get a chance to see what they look like. I bet you they would
tell you that in order to be a Stanley Cup champ you have to work hard and
skate hard and make right choices in life, just like these folks did that
are standing up here with me.
I forgot to mention, for those of you who don't know - hockey players are a superstitious lot (among other things!). The belief is that only winners can touch the Stanley Cup. If you touch it before you win it, you'll never win it. You should have seen the parents..."Don't touch the cup!!!"
Now my kids are decent little athletes, they love hockey, and I love them, but niether one is likely to have the size or the skill to even LOOK at the NHL...but... DON'T TOUCH THE CUP!!!!!
The cup is also the only trophy in pro sports that every player gets to take home with them for a day. It's been in some interesting places.
Hi Sara! Good to hear from you! I'm glad you're gainfully employed again.
DS9 is a good sport. Poor kid, though. I know they're both keeping score, so here is how it breaks down:
Mini game during ECHL Alaska Aces game: DS9-0 / DS7-2
Mini game during Junior A Alaska Avalanche: DS9-0 /DS7-1
Mini game during NHL Washington Capitals: DS9-0 / DS-7-1
White House Invitation to meet Stanley Cup Champs: DS9-0 / DS7-1
Wow M what an exciting day.

You got to meet the Ducks and see the Stanley Cup!! Did they feed you? Snacks? I bet they have those really big shrimp there without the shells. I am waiting for the 10pm news here to watch for you. The only shot that my be of interest that I found was in the Orange county register of one of your boys.
President Bush quacks welcome to Ducks at White House

CHUCK KENNEDY, MCT
Thanks so much Roger! Hard to tell, but I think that is actually one of our girls! I'm going to send the link around to the team.
No snacks! Can you believe it? Although if you look at the photos, the reception room is mostly white with curtains that probably cost more than my ridiculously overpriced house. Let me tell you, all the parents were thankful for the lack of food! 30 kids running around with Sharpies was scary enough.
