Howdy gang...

Drive by posting, which is what I'm gonna be limited to until life settles down. Got a job, lost a job, got another one. Mike decided to leave the TSA & go back to construction and starts on the 11th. DD is a little freaked out by all the changes (including going back to school 5 days a week) and has been something of a brat, but life goes on and will settle down in a while.

Your life sure has been a rollercoaster!!!!! What ever it takes to make enough money to go on the TOAL would be great!!!!!!:thumbsup2
Wishing you both luck with the new jobs.

Hello everyone!

We wanted to introduce ourselves, myself (Michele), husband (Mark) and daughter (Nicole - 12 at cruise time). This will be our third Disney cruise and we have been booked, through DU, since Day One -- although at the premium price. In the end, just glad that we did get a Gty Cat 6 and will wait to see where we will call home for a lovely 15 days.

Our flights are booked, via Buffalo, hotel night before booked, through Hotwire, one night after NOT BOOKED and just waiting for the go ahead to pack.

My thanks in creating a wonderful and informative thread. It has been a joy to read and I look forward to meeting you on the ship.

Michele

Glad to have you joion us.:cheer2:

Since we're all friends here I figured I could share a bit with all of you. My wife just forwarded this 'joke' to me at work. I usually start getting these kinds of jokes sent to me just before a holiday to help me remember to be a good husband. I guess I'll be calling the local florist and placing my order early.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was and always will be yours.

If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with.

If, however, it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and never appears to have noticed that you actually set it free in the first place, you either married it or gave birth to it!

I married one and gave birth to one.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I contacted DCL directly about the theme nights for our cruise and this is the response I received from them today:

The dining team is still working on finalizing the theme nights for the
15 Night Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise for August. We hope to have this
information shortly so you can start planning your outfits!

Also, the planning kits are scheduled to go out to us late March/early April.

Awesome news, thanks for tracking that down!!!!

So hows everyone doing today ?

It's bright and sunny an I'm in a quandry and wanna ask if anyone has a solution for me. My spouse just finished a company convention down in anaheim where they gave out these "convention" passes to Disneyland. They permit admission to one park after 4PM any day of the week after 4PM but expires on the 17th this month.

Well... I'd like to use it but it's tough. Friday (tomorrow) we have gymnastics classes and that happens at 5-6PM. On saturday we had planned on maybe driving up to the snow agaian in the morning through early afternoon - then I had a Daddy & Daughter dance at her school in the evening. This leaves SUNDAY as a day we could go to Disneyland - but AFTER 4PM to enter. Now THAT is tough because our kids have school monday and for most working folks they have an early morning schedule. WE can go because I am a SAHD/SE from home Dad and Alicia can swing it too. And besides, our kids purpetually sleep later than most other kids I think... we let them stay up til maybe 9:30-11PM (last nite was about 9:30PM).... while other families seem to put thier kids to sleep earlier... but hen they also tend to awaken their kids earlier.

My quandry is shall I invite kids through their parents to come IF they wil go on a SUNDAY to enter at 4PM and leave around 8PM? Enabling a return home at 9ish? Is that going to come across as irresponsible to other parents - or is it going to look unusual? I mean - I wonder what sort of impression I'd make because I'm offerring an odd proposition that conflicts with a common routine (sleeping early before a monday with school and work).

I had been thinking it would be a higher use of time and energy to go to Disneyland with a friend on Saturday nite INSTEAD of doing the drive up tothe snow AND Daddy/Daughter dance. However, my daughter indicated she prefers to do the sledding and Dance instead of DL with a girlfriend. Or rather, she indicated she'd prefer to keep saturday as is - and do DL on SUNDAY with a girlfriend. So - what are the odds I'll get someone to come along with us on a sunday evening?

AND - may I add... if anyone can make use of this ticket BEFORE the 17th... let me know via PM. I might not find anyone to go with us on Sunday - in which case I might not go. I'll then send it to you to use. We're out of town next weekend as we rented a house in Big Bear to split with friends and we got those free lift tickets from the Glace Vitamin Water deal I spoke of some time ago. SO we're not going to DL next weekend.

DRAT! These convention tickets are too restrictive I tell ya!

Anyone have any thoughts? There must be someting obvious I'm not seeing here.

And on another note - we just signed up to join the Girl Scouts as Daisy and Brownies! Woo Hooo! :yay:

I see that Crash is back at "7" questions!

1) What port are you NOW looking forwad to most for our upcoming TOAL?
All of them. I’m easy to please and I've never been to any of them except Castaway Cay.
2) What shore excursion/ashore diversion are you looking forward to most on our upcoming TOAL? Still figuring that out.
3) What has been the nicest/most memorable posting/message/thought that you've found on this new thread? Too many to mention, but love the camaraderie.
4) Do you have a cabin assignment yet? Yep! 2nd Deck can’t remember cabin #.
5) What did you have fer your most recent meal? Details please. Micro apples and cinnamon oatmeal.
6) What are you looking forward to seing/doing most (off hand) ON the ship? Relaxing, meeting everyone, and tastings ah and the deck chairs on deck 4!
7) Given a choice... and you HAD to make ONE of these two choices... would you take a cabin catagory HALF as expensive and sail twice as long or ... would you trade up o a nicer cabin that costs TWICE as much but sails for HALF as long? You have to choose one... or you have to MAKE up a really ENTERTAINING alternative reply!
Absolutely go with the downgrade and sail longer!

Well that was one of the nicest intros I've ever read! Welcome!!! :flower3:

That's my favorite too. The other parents were taking pics of the kids sitting on the wall when we walked up. I took one or two that way, then told the kids to turn around.

Nah, in Alaska all I got to do was hang out with the congressional delegation, attend the governor's innaugural ball, and meet Scotty Gomez (NHL star) and assorted winter olympians. ;)

Seriously, you're right, this is very much a once in a lifetime thing that could only happen here.

I've been in the same vicinity as 43 twice now. Other than that, the closest I've been was in HS. Our HS band got to entertain the crowds waiting for Reagan to show up-I was on the dance team. We performed in the freezing cold for 3 hours in order to have the honor of watching his limo go by.

I forgot to mention, for those of you who don't know - hockey players are a superstitious lot (among other things!). The belief is that only winners can touch the Stanley Cup. If you touch it before you win it, you'll never win it. You should have seen the parents..."Don't touch the cup!!!"

Now my kids are decent little athletes, they love hockey, and I love them, but niether one is likely to have the size or the skill to even LOOK at the NHL...but... DON'T TOUCH THE CUP!!!!!

The cup is also the only trophy in pro sports that every player gets to take home with them for a day. It's been in some interesting places.

No snacks! Can you believe it? Although if you look at the photos, the reception room is mostly white with curtains that probably cost more than my ridiculously overpriced house. Let me tell you, all the parents were thankful for the lack of food! 30 kids running around with Sharpies was scary enough.

I would'nt have thought to have them turn around, but that's why I'm not a photographer!

Didn't realize hockey players were such a superstitious lot. I wouldn't have let them touch either.

First thing I thought when I saw that huge table was whether there was food or not. Geez I'm sure they could've afforded some snacks. :confused3

And for whom-ever starts the next thread - please getthe thread title RIGHT! It should be precisely the same as it is NOW except with a #3... so sez Captain Todd! AND ... don't neglect posting a POLL of some merit - but not so much merit that it gets EDITED to nuttin' by our friendly, respected mods![/CENTER]

Oh please no more polls! :rotfl2:

I still haven't mailed off my package and I don't know if I'll get it done before the weekend since I'm in the middle of month and year end close at a new job. I have a good excuse (or several) and dispensation from my recipient... does that help?

Wow sounds like you have a lot of stress to deal with right now. Hope things settle soon! :wizard:

That's exactly why I didn't join in the SM, because I would definitely be in the same boat. Geez I can't even finish typing a stupid paper, never mind shopping for just the right things (which I would've agonized over), but then packaging & mailing? As it is today, my bills should've been done a week ago! :sad2:

I contacted DCL directly about the theme nights for our cruise and this is the response I received from them today:

Also, the planning kits are scheduled to go out to us late March/early April.

Yep, that is the same answer on the theme nights that I have gotten since December. Hopefully it will be sooner rather then later ;)

If anyone truly understands this as it might apply here - please feel free to exlain it in 20 words or less. < wink >

This will be the conversational topic when the Rocket Scientist types in the crew get together after the Tequila tasting.

20 words! Yes! I rock. :woohoo: I rock. :woohoo:

:rotfl: :lmao:

Blame it on the rum.

Why is the rum gone?

One, because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men ino complete scoundrels,

Two - that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire Royal Navy is out looking for me, do you really think that there is even the slightest chance that they won't see it?

And on another note - we just signed up to join the Girl Scouts as Daisy and Brownies! Woo Hooo! :yay:

Have fun with that Crash.... I see Cookie Dad in your future.....
