Not only do we have to get our kids to scholl but many of us are teachers and have to go back that next day too. It will take some careful planning!;)

I'll be missing the first 2 weeks. We report Aug. 18th and the kids come in on the 21st.

good morning all! TGIF!!!
rainy here too...and i could only wish that there were a 2 hr delay....but nope...my kids are home for the day! they are using their last snow day today...and it's only january. our school is strange...we live in an area that they know we will use snow days...yet, this year there were only 2 or 3 days built into the schedule for it. we are out already! ridiculous!! so, now they will start taking away the spring break in april. ugh!
oh well, hope you all have a great friday! stay safe!

We have 5 days to make up from the ice storm. There are only 2 built in a year. We are losing 2 Parent Conference days this month and at least 2 more in May.

Well apparantly I have found a way out of getting out of going to the office today. DD and I have Fifths Disease. What a pain. Fortunately the only pregnant person in the office was not in yesterday. Now I am happy to report my stint of driving to Downtown Dallas is done for the year.
Everyone have a great Friday!!!!

Fifths Disease? :confused3 That's the first time I ever heard that excuse used for a Hang Over! :rotfl:

My mom and I clashed over cake and flowers when planning our wedding. I wanted all white roses and an all white cake. She had a fit thinking it would be too "plain". She wanted the little water fountain and the whole nine yards on the cake. But I put my foot down on these 2 issues and nixed the fountain and got my all white cake and all white roses. And this was 1992 in Toledo, Ohio....so this too was all very radical. Well, my mom was pleased in the end when the guests told her how "elegant" everything was.

I have learned a great lesson from this, though. DD wanted me to give her a makeover the other day, so she could try on her dress and headpiece for 1st Communion. I assumed we would curl her hair and leave it down, but she had other ideas. She told me she really wanted to wear her hair up. So.....I did it just as she wanted, and she was right! It looked great up with the dress, veil and earrings.

We expect pictures you know! ;)

Or better yet an excuse to not drive 27 miles in rushour traffic to downtown Dallas.
Technically today is the end of our "year-end" so many margaritas will be consumed starting at 5:00.

I scanned my old slides from my wedding. Just a few as FIL was snapping some for his own. Speaking of cakes. I hated the traditional sponge cakes and opted for a chocolate rum cake. Yes Captain RUM. Here is the pic I have and mind you this was in 1969. We were just babes.Tiers and all and yes, my hair was back and up. I don't think I would've liked it down but it took about an hour to comb that do out.

I can just imagine all the hairspray and bobby pins! :rotfl2:

Nice, Diane. I think we'll be okay in the large suitcase department, but do you have a pic of the rolling garment bags you are considering? I have one of the old foldover style and I think it seriously needs to find a new home and I'll get a more updated one.

Hello Wendy!
I am sure that I remember you. I believe that you were on the August 26th Wonder cruise. My name is Jennifer. I met you at the Dis Cruise Meet. I also remember talking to you and your husband in the hot tub one afternoon. You were saying that you were trying to get on this cruise. I am glad that everything worked out for you :cheer2:

Hi Everyone...I'm doing pretty good, thanks. Have been very tired and we took a little trip to WDW last week to celebrate ending chemo - that didn't help that  . I got my procrit (sp?) shot yesterday and that seems to help quite a bit once it kicks in. However, I got some wonderful news yesterday that raised my spirits immensely.....

My tumor has shrunk to the point of being undetectable on the MRI I had Monday :cool1: :cool1: . I am so very grateful to all the Dr's and nurses who have taken care of me in the last months. They are really amazing!! I have a surgery date of Feb 15th. I had to make some pretty big decisions about all that yesterday, but I think I have made the right choices for myself.

Mary Ann that is wonderful news!!!!:grouphug: :grouphug:   :grouphug: :grouphug:

I had a snow day today. The schools are closed which is very rare. Usually they just cancel the buses. Since my kids are home, I am stuck at home too. I am not looking forward to shovelling the driveway, but I think that I better get out there now. Hopefully one of my neighbours with a snow blower sees me and they come over to help :rolleyes1

We are supposed to report on the 25th. I am told I will be able to get into my classroom to set it up before I leave but i will not have my class roster until I get back. The worst part is that our flight (with no delays) does not even get into Richmond until 8:15pm which means we will not even get home until 9:30. Kids will have to have backpacks with school supplies & clothes all ready sp we can get out the door the following morning - its gonna be tough that first day back. I was even considering seeing if I could just get a sub for that first day of school - not sure how my principal will feel about that though.

Bo is all grown up now, and we STILL don't know what we got! He was a fluffy little puppy and now he has smooth, short hair with a bit of curl to it. We had thought there was a lot of Lab in him, but have also been told Pit Bull.
:confused3

WOW, Stace! How could he be all grown up already? I remember when he was brand new!

Thanks Diane..........:wave2:

I got our taxes done today :surfweb: I'm glad that's done and over with for another year...........:thumbsup2

I LOVE the snow on the antenna ball!!! Too cute. If snow can BE cute.
And the poor kitty!! Nice black spot out there in all that white.

I couldn't resist taking the photo of the antenna topper! It is actually what convinced me to put on the boots, coat, hat, scarf, etc and go outside.

The kitty is one of DH's "outdoor" cats. There are 6 indoors and he doesn't tell me how many out outside! :lmao: When he can, he traps them and gets them spayed/neutered. If they are friendly, he can sometimes get the vet or one of the shelters to take them. Most are ferile and just get released back outside. (So basically, he has been running his own private catch-neuter-release program for years! :thumbsup2 ) He puts out food and water year round and builds a little shelter for them in the winter. They also go under our front porch and various porches and decks around the neighborhood.

Pamela

That is so sweet of your DH and you to care for the wild cats. :lovestruc

Way to go Andy. I'm still waiting for one more W2 from the Disney Store (and it's for all of about 25 hours of work last year.)

With Angelina's three part-time jobs this year, it took me longer to do her return than Hazel's and mine..........:lmao:

This was also the first year that Angelina's returns were filed. Since she turned 17 this past year, we lost out on the $1000 Child Credit...........:guilty:

This is the year we could have used it the most too........

I'm off to get my hair cut, I almost forgot I had this appointment today...

Hi everyone! Good Morning!

I just got off the phone with DCL...We are still on WLE...I guess the review the list everyday blah blah.....

Someone mentioned (I forgot who?! lol) about me planning early and the "moms" Brendan's mom hasn't offered anything....MY momhas been the advisor...we have only clashed once so far and that is about hair! I want it down she thinks my hair will look better up!
Everything else has been going pretty smoothly..where is some wood to knock on???

Have to go to my mom's work now...a coworker makes jewelry and mom thought (and told the woman!) they would make great attendant gifts!!!!!!!!!!!! (go ahead enjoy the laugh!:rotfl2: )

Chrissie

Chrissie, that's so nice of your Mom to get gifts for your attendants. :lmao: What are you going to get them?

Those who get behind........................get left behind....

you tell em sista :rotfl2:

We started w/2 hr delay.... dd was all ready to go when i came into work...Roads weren't bad at all (some ice on sidewalks; mostly the brick ones) At 7:45 am they wussed out and cancelled school.

So now she gets a 3 day weekend. Lazy school district. I went to school with far worse as a kid.

betcha' ya walked too !

Only 2-3 for NY.:confused3 That's nuts... Most districts we've lived in have 5 days built in.... The worst was the year we first had a bunch of electrical storms and a hurricane. No power at the school for days so kids got off in September. Then we had many snow days too after that. We lost presidents day, and easter vacation that year.

In Md they tend to cancel school at the drop of a hat since we din't get snow too often. They will subtract school days at the end if we keep too many. (not that the kids are doing anything the month of june anyway. :sad2: .

Weird.... How do they think you got it.... I thought it was more of a summer camp disease.....

:upsidedow
