Hi Everyone...I'm doing pretty good, thanks. Have been very tired and we took a little trip to WDW last week to celebrate ending chemo - that didn't help that  . I got my procrit (sp?) shot yesterday and that seems to help quite a bit once it kicks in. However, I got some wonderful news yesterday that raised my spirits immensely.....

My tumor has shrunk to the point of being undetectable on the MRI I had Monday :cool1: :cool1: . I am so very grateful to all the Dr's and nurses who have taken care of me in the last months. They are really amazing!! I have a surgery date of Feb 15th. I had to make some pretty big decisions about all that yesterday, but I think I have made the right choices for myself. .

Very good news :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Between Cheryl and Tom, I'm getting a bit concerned about the TOAL. What kind of diversions are we going to experience?

Difference is when she gets delayed etc... she always get compensation for it. That is how she had so many credits with United.

I just realized I need to have their backpacks ready before we leave on the TOAL. :scared1:

We went to WDW and DCL right before school opened 2 years ago. I made sure the backpacks were in order and the clothes were laid out before we left for the trip. In fact, I remember having the backpacks stuffed by the first week of August.

This year, my kids will miss the first 4 days of school. I'll obviously have to do the same sort of drill, PLUS make up 4 nights of homework on the first night back to school!

Wow - I hadn't even thought about the backpack! You're right, I need to get that ready before we leave. We still don't know how much school DS8 will miss. If they follow this year's schedule, he will miss 3 days. If they follow last year's schedule, he wll miss 8 days  The board has been considering changing the year to start on Sept 2nd - but most insiders don't think that is too likely.

The main argument against it is that it would push the year further into the spring (we get out June 9th this year counting today's snow day) and that might 'discourage' teachers from continuing their education during the summer. :confused3 Doesn't make much sense to me - first, they get PAID more if they continue their education which seems like a pretty big incentive to me! Second, even if the last few days of school overlapped their summer-school classes, it would be the very beginning of the semester and there is always the possibility that going back super early in the fall will overlap also and that would be during finals. Lastly, many of us manage to go to school and get advanced degrees while working all-year, 40-hour per week jobs, so the idea that school running a few more days would discourage someone just sounds silly. Sorry about the rant - this just really bugs me!

We probably won't know for a few more months.

Pamela

Hey!

Well, ok......

I think it was the other Tom?

I can just imagine all the hairspray and bobby pins! :rotfl2:

No you really can't imagine how much went into it. I have baby fine hair and to get it to stay was monumental. It was as stiff as the gel products they use now.

Thanks Diane..........:wave2:

I got our taxes done today :surfweb: I'm glad that's done and over with for another year...........:thumbsup2

Me too yesterday and am getting a nice return

Tom, you might want to put this information on the website for those interested in going to the Jolly Pirates excursion in Aruba on their own:

http://taxiaruba.com/new/farelist.html Taxi Fare List

Taxi to Palm Beach $10 each way. Fare is per taxi ride, NOT per person.

Sundays there is a $3 surcharge each way. Prices are each way and for the ride, NOT per person. http://taxiaruba.com/new/policy.html

Taxis are allowed to accept a maximum of 5 passengers.
Fares are set by the government.

So, from the pier to the Holiday Inn beach (Moomba) where Jolly Pirates departs is $10 for up to 5 people in a taxi, each way.

:

Actually, now that you mention it, it is BOTH Toms, but I think we meant Tom31B at that instant . . . wow, put Crash in the equation with Tom and Cheryl and we are going to need a lot of good karma from the rest of us to have smooth sailing!:goodvibes

Bo is all grown up now, and we STILL don't know what we got! He was a fluffy little puppy and now he has smooth, short hair with a bit of curl to it. We had thought there was a lot of Lab in him, but have also been told Pit Bull.
:confused3

Sure didn't take long, did it:) He looks like a lot of fun:goodvibes
There are many times that I miss the companionship of a pet in the house, but I really don't miss the responsibility they entail:)

Maybe before the end of this school year, you can talk to their teacher and get something arranged they can work on before the trip. Sometimes they will work with you and it doesn't hurt to ask.:)

Bellelinus- What type of excursion is the Jolly Pirate? Is it family friendly? Is this a Disney sponsored excursion.

I haven't even started on taxes yet.. that is a Feb or March project...did I say I procrastinate a bit when it comes to taxes..:confused3

I just like getting them done ASAP!!! :goodvibes

I get Adam's done early and sent off--I'll do his Sunday. Mine I get done, but wait until 4/15 to mail and write the checks:sad2:

I really don't know for sure ... it happened to my mother's engagement ring, but she was doing some welding at that time (long story!) and the jeweler told her it was the heat from that which caused her emerald to crack. She was "lucky" in that it broke into 2 nearly identical pieces and they were able to re-cut them and put them into earings for her. They warned her then that emeralds shouldn't be in extremes of temperature (also, opals shouldn't get wet! - she had one of those crumble to dust) so her other ring with an emerald gets taken off when she cooks (she doesn't weld anymore...)
Pamela

Welding:eek:

That sounds cool:cool1:

I was just concerned if a hot summer day (or a cold winter day) was considered to be extreme:confused3

Loved to hear that welding story someday:thumbsup2

I, too, have very stick straight hair. It used to be nice and thick, but it has thinned out over the years. My mother always gave me the "get it out of your face" line, but now I grow it for locks of love, so she does not say anything!

I donated my hair a couple of years ago. That is a great organization:goodvibes :goodvibes

Has anyone else seen this! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I have DH bidding on a tiara for me at eBay (all of you have inspired me to get a new one!) and he ran across this. He tried to convince me it would be "better" than the one I've picked out :rotfl:

Just search on "pirate tiara".....

I have to sit and do the business taxes this weekend, before I can even think of doing our personal ones.
No DIS for me this weekend. :sad1:

My accountant had mine finished about 2 weeks ago-----those are waiting until 3/15 to be mailed:rolleyes1
I hope it doesn't take you too long to get them finished.:)

DW wants to do some emerald shopping, so we'll be doing some reading up on what to look for when buying one. I read about the differences between inclusions (not necessarily a bad thing) and flaws (definitely a bad thing.) Now I just need to figure out how to tell if there is a flaw that may end up cracking.

My eyes are over 40 and I can't see things that small:confused3

Mister Emerald looks good. But I'm going to check a store down in Woodbridge VA first to see if they recommend anyone:confused3

We should get a group of us together and see if we can get a group discount:woohoo:
