8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

For anybody who did the 07 TA's...what was your weather like?

I had a flash of brilliance (or desperation) thinking maybe the April TA would hit over Easter break so we'd only have to miss one week of school...but Easter is 4/4 in 2010....so no matter what week they took off it wouldn't help.

Also, I know this has been discussed a bazillion times...but I just want to be sure I have correct info. In order to transfer our 09 cruise deposit to a 2010 date, WE have to call? We booked onboard and then transferred it to DU when we got home.

Lastly...when we got home my mom decided she wished she had booked onboard too. (sigh) Should I book her now, on our dummy date and then transfer her with us or just book her as a new booking when we transfer it? Is there any benefit to her one way or the other?

Thanks for your thoughts.

In 07 the May TA had some really rough weather, 20ft swells I think. In Aug it's like we were crossing a lake. Many days we'd wake up and the water would look as smooth as glass. I don't know if that is typical of the weather patterns or not.

Since your booking has been transferred to DU, they will call for you, as long as you request them too. I'm holding on to my own bookings to see what kind of TA offers come up.

Will your mom be in the same room with you? If so, I'd add her now so that when you book the 2010 she'll get the same pricing that you do, and it will be an easier transaction on booking day. If you add her later, she'd have to pay the prevailing rate, not the rate that you got. But then again, I highly doubt these sailings will sell out and I'm not sure how fast the tier pricing will raise.

I'm still looking. Will check out temp agencies next week. Will be too busy playing tourist with Kim this week. She's coming to SF for a visit. Guess she won't be finding a job this week either.

Thanks! I really, really hope K, Monica & Kim end up with just as good a deal.

If I don't get a good enough deal on vacation then I'll just have to quit the next job for TOAL 2010 like I did this summer!! :rotfl2:

Good news! I got a job offer. Well 2 actually, but I'm only taking one. :) They are all independent (more like a franchise than a corporation), but I'm back working for the same organization that I worked for in Alaska.

I start next Monday, so I get to pocket about a month's worth of severance from my last job AND I ended up with a 17% raise. YAY!

Congrats from your friends from NY.:cool1:

At first I didn't realize this was quoting M again and I got really jealous that someone else was getting another stupendous offer. :rotfl:

No, this week we have to celebrate for M. I'm sure we can find a bottle of champagne somewhere... or wine... or tequila... or rum...
:boat: :rockband: :drinking: party: :sail:

 Way to go, M

Congrats on the job and the raise :thumbsup2

Hey all -
I've been avoiding the DIS so I don't turn into an unemployed unkempt hermit. I just watched the live announcement for 2010. Looks like fun, but we have another TOAL planned for 2010. Plus, I'm not sure I want to pay the "DCL premium" price for a Euro cruise since you spend very little time on the ship. Repo would be nice, but the dates won't work for us.

Like the Olympics??
Even without the travel expenses, figure skating and hockey start at about $250 per seat, per event. OY!

I think we'll be watching a lot of biathlon and preliminary bobsled live and just soaking in the atmosphere. It will be great anyway!

SIL! I thought it would be 2010 before you were able to crawl out of a giant pile of financial paperwork.

Good for you!!

Looked at the 2010 stuff they would be great wish we could pull it off.

Copying this post on the main board for those who don't get over there much.

I Went to buy my stuff and they threw a min charge BS at me so I had to pay with cash. Was thinking of turning them in as it is illegal to tell anyone they have to spend a min to use a card. Guessit worked out after all....

Finallly- Here we go........
CARPET ANGELS!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh I remember it well. By the way, what day was it as I am folder crazed.

As you all can imagine, things have been kind of crazy lately gearing up for 2010 release. Everyone who booked with DU onboard will be contacted by me (hopefully tomorrow!) about the possible 2010 itineraries. Just thought I'd let you know. :goodvibes

Congratulations M!! Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to those I've missed.

We didn't book onboard - I guess that was dumb huh?

Anyway, I just filled in the online form and said we met you so if you'd have us, we'd like you for our agent - I promise the leaking ceiling wasn't our fault, we are good customers really :rotfl:

No...you were just in denial. ;) I let DH talk me out of booking onboard for our first cruise saying that we wouldn't go for 2 years and 2 weeks later he asked if I would mind if we went in a year. ACK! I never leave the ship now without at least 2 OB bookings ... one that is usually for the date we will cruise and the second so that we can take advantage of whatever comes up.

DH just brought in the mail. We have all three PC postcards!!!!

Wow! I got ours yesterday too. They must of put them in the same bag outta Panama!:goodvibes Only took 6 weeks to be delivered and no postmark.:sad1:

Yeah that's my job I guess....

Congrat's ....

Not even a rock here for me yet.....:headache:

Just hang in there Charlie Brown! (I just love the Peanuts Halloween!) Good things are coming your way!

Still thinking about the Baltic cruises. Maybe? (Hope) Will have to see what happens. I would be curious to see what kinda rush will happen next Tuesday?

Unfortunately the dates are not feasible for the repos but the price is right and for the Med/Baltic the dates are right but the price is wrong for us. May be in 2011 on a new boat or if the Magic/Wonder come to LA/Hawaii/Alaska. I just saw a good review article on Micechat about the Hawaiian Resort by Disney. Maybe we will do the grand opening and cruise? Definitely going to WDW next summer.

That would be an interesting idea for 2010...

All things happen for a reason...CONGRATS :cool1:

I've been to the resort at Ko Olina - shot a round of golf there and hung on on those coves with family countless times. Frankly, this is the kind of site that just might get me to consider DVC pretty seriously. I believe this image below shows another rendering of the coves.

The DVC is next to the Marriott, in this image would be the empty spot in center.

Happened to us too, for all of our Aruba charges.... Jolly Pirates included.

Thanks Lisa.

I was very tempted to spend lots oof money on jewelry but just paid cash in Aruba for little trinkets.:thumbsup2

We're talking about the MOST PRIME stretch of newly developed sand on Oahu. For those OK with staying just on Oahu - this is the spot. When I visit Oahu most of our relatives are here - and the favorite spot we go to (if we're driving) is precisely the central cove where the Disney resort is going to be sited. They have mandated as part of the developement a stretch of public access parking and so on - and that's how we come to enjoy this resorts' beaches at zero cost and minimal inconvenience. THe only drag is if the parking is full ... then we might have to park in another further public lot.

So the way to get a taste of this FREE is stay elsewhere and drive in... of course - that defeats all the advantage of being on property and so on. I'm going to be watching this very carefully as it evolves.

So I just got off the line with Alicia -shes' away on business for a few days and just landed. It looks like we'll be booking the April 10th repo... and it's just a question of what the air fares' gonna run us and how many days we'll stay afterwards. Julianna will miss about 1.5-2 weeks excluding the week and a half of spring break she'll miss. If anyone else is interested in this sailing I've started a meet thread for this already.

OK... I have to go now... got meetings in town and a lunch appointment.

Cheryl...

... on that Carpet Angel thing - yeah ... yaann-O Cheryl... that whole cruise I was unable to talk much with pretty much anyone because I was concerned with passing what I had along and it was just plain difficult for me to talk much! SO - that actually was a lot of chat fer me on that occassion.

and ... yesterday we finally booked our flights to Honolulu for April 13th to the 25th. We're on Big Island 13-20 then Oahu 20-25. If you're in either place lets' have dinner, eh? On Oahu I know a lot of great local joints - if that's OK?

And now .... I really REALLY gotta get going. I really really don't wanna be late on the 1st meeting as that will push everything else off schedule.

Cheers folks!
