8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Hi Gang,
Love the pics @Smugmug!! Thanks to everyone who shared the pics!!

Jet Blue gave everyone that was on my flight home a $50 voucher as an apology for the super long delay. But, I think I need to contact them as my checked luggage was soaked. While it was raining at JFK - I don't understand why my bag (and everything in it) got drenched!!

I'm still sick - its a real drag at this point!! I'm actually even considering going to the doctor!

I do miss y'all!! I'm ready for a reunion - 2010 - and we already have a thead!! Thanks Todd

BTW Todd - I already told you we'll be there iin March '09 - and let us know as soon as you know re this Nov.

Ciao!

I'm sorry you are still sick. I hope you get well soon! See the dr if you don't feel better soon... I finally went to the dr and I have bronchitis! And now my oldest is all stuffed up/but runny nose, headache (probably sinus headache) and all that lovely stuff... I just hope it doesn't move into her chest like it did for me! Lord knows she can't afford to miss anymore school- she's just now barely catcing up and in AP classes she can fall behind really fast! :(

All I know is I have to get over this pretty quickly because my sister is having her baby on Monday! (planning to be her last one) and I have to be there to video tape it and help with my mother to be there also (my mother is quadraplegic, btw.) So I simply HAVE to get better.. sis isn't going to let me near that baby if I'm coughing!

Anyway- hope you are okay and get well soon!

This is completely :offtopic: , but so many that we met on board wanted to see pics from the wedding. Here's just a couple, but I'm still waiting for a good one of Mike and I together!

JensWedding112.jpg

This is me and my Maid of Honor waiting for the ceremony!

JensWedding114.jpg

Mike was standing outside the window and I was checking him out without him seeing me!
I hardly think your wedding os off topic here! We were all part of your honeymoon!
Great pictures! Can't wait to see more!

I've finally had a chance to log on and I wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. We are in San Antonio and we left early enough that we didn't encounter any traffic problems. After we had been on the road for about 30-45 minutes, they ordered a mandatory evacuation for my zip code so I was glad that we had already gone. I'm really surprised that they aren't ordering more evacuations for Houston...seems the only areas under mandatory evacuation are those nearest to the coast. The strangest thing we saw while driving from Houston to San Antonio was a caravan of 30 ambulances with their lights on going to Houston. I guess they were going to help evacuate some of the hospitals.

Anyway, I am feeling somewhat better now that we are out of the city. The kids are going a bit stir-crazy here in the hotel, but who can blame them? We do have an indoor pool, which they used twice today. Thank goodness for that!

I have been glued to the internet and TV all day. The funny thing is that Wednesday morning this thing really looked like it was going to hit closer to Corpus Christi, and we weren't even planning on leaving. But, it slowly inched it's way up the coast all day Wednesday until it was too close to Houston for me to feel comfortable with staying. It looks like it is continuing to slowly move east so I am still hopeful that we may not get a direct hit. They are also now predicting that it may come onshore as only a category 2 instead of the 3 or 4 that they have been predicting. So that is good news also. Keep those prayers coming...they seem to be working!

To Coral, Steph and Bip...thank you so much for the offer of a place to stay. I was truly touched when I saw your responses. We really had planned on going to Dallas up until about 10 minutes before we hit the road. We checked the hurricane track one last time, and it looked like it would be moving up your way after it hit Houston so we made a last-minute decision to head to San Antonio instead.

Kim, will look for your report to update us on how your family is doing. DD will be praying for her new buddy too. :) We have had to evacuate a couple of times too so the kids know what Hurricanes can do. It was great to see you on the cruise. Your kids are great! DD really enjoyed spending so much time with both of your girls. :grouphug:

Thank you, Lisa. I know the girls enjoyed playing with K too, especially at Castaway Cay! Did you ever find your memory card? I have pictures from the Princess Tea I can send you once things settle down around here.

Kim - good thoughts on the safety of your family and home

You were sitting next to us at dinner in Animator's and your children are all beautiful. One night your little one was happy, playing, full of energy one minute and the next minute sound asleep. We were laughing on how quickly they can nod off remembering our two doing the same at that age.

Wow...I didn't know you were next to us! You must have been at the table next to the wall. Thanks for the compliment on my kids. They are good kids, most of the time! It was funny because just about every night at dinner, one of my kids was asleep! And each one of them did fall asleep at dinner at least once. I did take a picture each time one of them was asleep so I need to go back and see if there was ever a night where everyone was awake for the whole dinner! Boy...I wish my little one could fall asleep as easily here at the hotel as he did at dinner. He has been wired all day!

It's been a long day...I'm going to head to bed. Thanks again for all your prayers and well wishes...keep them coming!

Kim

thanks so much for the update... been thinking about you lots! So glad to hear the good news that you're settled in San antonio and that the hurricane may not be a direct hit or if so a lower category hurricane. hurray!
You're very welcome- we'd be glad to have you anytime. :) But let's hope you don't need any of the invitations given...and can go to your home soon! Keep in touch if you can... continued prayers!

I wish I had had a video when she saw her ribbon...one of the times I was sorry I didn't have one with me...we were walking into the exhibit and DH and I could see the blue ribbon...we could tell when DD saw it as she started running towards the exhibit screaming..not sure what the people around us must have thought..I thought DD was going to kiss the glass covering the exhibit.

:goodvibes That makes me feel good -- I LOVE when kids are just really happy! :)

I'm so glad that's the way you're remembering me! I was so afraid I was going to hear: so you're that girl who was in RBD every night, etc, etc. :rotfl:

:lmao: I thought that was Cheryl. ;)
I know I said *Hi* a couple of times but, I don't know if I ever had a chance to really introduce myself..... *Hi, I'm Stephanie.* ;)

Roger and Sil-
The girls and I did a scientific re-creation tonight. It has now been proven it is scientifically impossible to bend over, swing your head wildly, while on a platform that has nothing to hold on to while wearing high heel flip flops. We of course, were unable to re-create the 20 knots speed we were going at the time or the Zombie I had drunk previously. :rotfl2:
The girls thought for sure they could avoid the "Tinkerbell Flight" better than me. Ha! They both fell off the stairs trying. (Yes, I caught them). :)

This is cracking me up!!!! After meeting you I can just visualize this.......

Hi Gang,

Ciao!

Chris, feel better soon. ANd I am so sorry about your suitcase!!! I hope nothing was ruined -- but, how could it not be?

It was sucha pleasure meeting you. I hope we get a chance to meet again.

Boy, oh boy, I know what you are talking about!

When I got off the ship on September 6th, I had told everybody the day before that I was "ready" to come home . . . and I was. Three weeks on board was just great, but time to get back to reality.

Well, by the time I arrived back home, I was already missing Disney and DCL.

Lo and behold, as I was going through the box that contained all the mail that had piled up over three and a half weeks, there was a document package from DCL for the three day cruise that I am doing with two friends at the end of January.
I was stoked! :)

So, instead of missing DCL, I'm keeping myself ready for the next encounter.

And, the best part of all, no real worry for hurricanes in January! :thumbsup2 Now, an ice storm that keeps me from getting down there the day before the cruise, THAT would be a world-class bummer.

:dance3: :dance3: Have a great time!!!!

Oh, no!!! Get better SOON. You can't miss out on holding a brand new baby!!!

Thank you for letting us know where/how you are doing.
We are still praying for it to lessen it's force.

:lmao: :lmao: Come on Coral we know that you took that head dive off the stage just to get the medal, just like you use to do at those punk-rock concerts. :lmao: :lmao: Too bad I did not have the video camera that night.

Oh lookie lookie.....I just found my HiDef Camcorder recordings from Krazy Karoke in RBD:

Harper Valley PTA
I Got You Babe and the classic rendition of
It's Raining Men

Highest bidder gets em - currently YouTube is leading pirate:

Andy

Sorry you didn't post them.

Almost forgot to ask...

Even with all the souvenirs that I managed to accumulate in my long vacation, I realized when I got home that I forgot to get "fresh" maps from Disneyland & California Adventures. The only ones I have are the yucky wrinkled ones that I used obsessively while at the parks those few days (I hated that I didn't know those parks since I could walk blindfolded through WDW).

Since I know some of you practically live in Mickey's back yard (so much better than Hotlanta's back yard), would it possible for someone to pick up a few maps and send them to me whenever you get a chance? I'll PM my address to whoever my Fairy Godmother (or father) happens to be.

Much, much appreciated!!

Kim

Kim the thing I remember about you was how you were having such a good time In the RDB when the Magician was performing. You were always smiling :goodvibes I knew you were having the TOAL

We likely won't get to cruise summer 2010. We are scheduled to be homeless that summer. I really wish DCL would get off the every-three-years cycle, since that's when we move.

Hey RadioCrash! Weren't you gonna start a thread??

The girls agree it was worth it to get the pity medal. :rotfl:
Can I just say how glad I am that you did not have your video camera. :worship: :)

Thanks for checking in Kim. :) I am in no rush to get the pictures. Hopefully nothing will be as bad as they predicted but you can't take the chance and you were smart to evacuate. Seeing your post about the kids sleeping made me remember another picture that might be missing. I will have to go through them and see if I have the ones from the PC talk we went to. Emily was sound asleep curled up in a seat in the WDT. LOL! It's great that they can stop and recharge any time.

I'm glad to hear you were able to make it out without any major problems. We'll keep your family and all of our Texas friends in our thoughts and prayers that y'all will make it through just fine.

Good Morning! Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Kim, thanks for posting. Keeping good thoughts for you and all the Texas DISers.

I started uploading pic to the site. So far I have most of the pics from the Hollywood Limo Tour on. I didn't realize it would take so long so will add the rest later.

I want to thank everyone for sharing thier pics! I really like looking at them.

Kaitlin had a DCL meltdown last night! See was clutching her D Sea U t-shirt that all the CM's signed and was balling her eyes out. She wants to go back and she misses all the friends she made! She almost had me crying too! So I guess DCL withdrawl is going around!

well its only been 11 days since this cruise been over, it seems a lot longer than that.im ready for another cruise. i wish i was rich.

Hi Tina - I think Darrah is going through some DCL withdrawal also. He hasn't been as verbal about the problem (it is so fun - NOT - having a boy sometimes) but has been kind of down and difficult for the last day or two.

If you want to PM an email address, I'll see if I can get him to send Kaitlin an email this weekend. Maybe contact with a friend would help?

I know how that goes too! Last Sunday, Deryk just moped around the house all depressed. Nothing would make him happy. He's watched a lot of older Disney movies since returning including Fantasia. When I asked what was wrong, in a very sad voice just said that he really wanted to be back on the cruise. All three boys have commented several times that they want to be back on the ship with their friends.

At least at home poor Landon doesn't have to worry about Claire running up and hugging him! LOL! I hope she didn't do that at the club to him! LOL!

My week home has been less then spectaculer.....

I've been sick (like so many of you) -- luckily it waited until the last day of our post cruise wdw trip to affect me! And one of my brothers told me this week (turns out he found out the day before I left but, didn't want to spoil my trip in any way) that his Lymphoma is back --- he was first diagnoised in 1998.
He came over yesterday to ask me to be his *person in charge of medical decisions*. He told me that he doesn't trust my dh or our mother to actually ever let him just die. ;) They would try to keep you alive forever no matter what the situation! LOL!
I guess our other siblings and our father were knocked out of the running for other reasons. :)
He also knows that I would care about his S/O's wishes.
.
I have the gift of not getting emotional when someone I love is hurt/sick, etc... I bawl like a baby during comercials but, I'm told someone I love is in medical trouble and I'm a rock. Dh on the other hand crumbles. ;)

We do know that wonderful strides have been made in chemo treatments -- last time db came close to dying because of port infections, not the cancer.

I know you will all think good thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Stephanie

Oh Steph, that sucks. But it is so great that you can be there for your brother. I'm sure that means a lot to him.

That is great ... I almost spilled my coffee all over the keyboard.. love the logo for our dummy cruise..

To me the funniest thing is that Diane wanted an imaginary Cat 6 on the imaginary cruise. But the imaginary Cat 6's on the imaginary cruise were imaginarily sold out. So she had to book an imaginary Cat 5. :confused3
