If there is anyone who doesn't have trip insurance, please get it.

My step mother and her daughter called yesterday morning to tell us my father died. I asked when they were planning to have the funeral and they said Friday. I got a call later saying the family has decided to have the funeral on SUNDAY instead.

So I had to cancel. I'll get a refund. DCL refunded half yesterday and I have to turn in calm forms to the insurance company for the balance.

Since I didn't book airfare with DCL, I may be out of that expense.

Is there anyone here who hasn't purchased DL park passes yet? I have two of the three day Southern California passes. If someone needs them, they are yours (no charge). They expire on the 30. If I don't give them way, they will be wasted.

If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll overnight them before we head to South Carolina on Tuesday.

If no one here needs them, I'll try to give them away on DL board when I return.

Sorry to be a downer in the mist of all the excitement.

Enjoy your TOAL and please take/post plenty of pictures.

Love ya Tanya

Laura,

Not to ask but did you like getting your legs lazered. I would love to do that and if we didn't have to shave anymore. Do you still have too even though you got them lazered?

Wow you all are so funny. But I myself have a special razor that cost alot and I will bring that.

Dawn~

:wave2: Dawn -

OK - for all you male pirate: , please feel free to skip over this portion. Might be a bit TMI for you!

Dawn, for the lasering, if you've ever gotten your eyebrows threaded - then to me - and this was for me - it hurt just a little bit less. It was a bit painful and can get more so on the bony parts of your legs such as your shinbone, top of your feet, knees, etc.

They laser you real quick. Took about 15 minutes to do both legs and you have to come back for a series of them. I have my underarms done and that only took a total of 3 sessions before they stopped growing. This by far is the best location for me. Its been about 5 years and every one in a while, I forget and look down and there is one big hair growing out. No one else can see it but I do and then i just pluck it or if a razor is handy, I swipe it across. I try and check my underarms at least once a month but you know - we get busy and we forget. :rotfl:

I was told that it works best on lighter skin with dark hair. I am Mexican with a medium complexiion (when I'm not dark according to DH) and black hair (when in its natural state) My youngest is pale skin with light hair and while it will work on her - will take repeated sessions. My oldes is also light skinned (a pinky complexion) with dark hair and she's been dying to have it done but since she chose to have a car for her 21st birthday - that is what she got instead. She's saving it for next year.

Megan, my oldest claims she has to shave every day and really wants this done next year. I threw away my shaver or handed it down and just use DH's when I need too. I can't tell you the confidence it gave me to not have to worry about it the day before we leave.

The skin "pinks" up when the laser is run over it but I would come home, rinse off in cool water and put neosporin on it and withing 4-6 hrs - I would be normal again. Actually more like 1-2 hrs. However, you are supposed to stay out of the sun while your having your session done. They spaced mine out about every 3-4 weeks. My legs took about 6-7 sessions. My underarms about 3 session although I gave them one extra and my upper thigh area - my problem area - I gave them 5 sessions.

It is not cheap but as my DD says, I buy razors every week. Its been about 5 years if not more and I haven't had to buy very many. Maybe once or twice when I went on vacation and forgot to check. I suggest if your interested that you find a reputable doctor and ask for references. This is your body and you can't be too careful.

I hope this helps, I highly recommend it. If you can, as I said, I hated to wear shorts as my problem area was my upper thighs, now, I have absolutely no qualms about wearing them and the added confidence that ok - there might be a hair here and there - at least it fuzz and not a forest.

It can get expensive. I had to buy my laser treatments in packages to get a break but it wasn't too bad. Now there is a chain of laser stores in practically every mall that does this for a rather inexpensive price. I'd do my homework on them and check them out. Ask for references, call the BBB and ask around. You'd be surprised at how many have done it - kinda like Lasik - just ask and you shall received

It cost me about $600 for 4 treatments on my underarms but this was a while back. I would average about $350-$400 for the entire leg and other portions, I also had my lip done but that has not taken as well as the legs and underarms. Also, keep in mind that you probably need to schedule occasional touch-ups once every couple of years. I'm good to go - for those, I can shave!

Good luck in your decision.

As for pain tolerance? If you can stand waxing or have ever had a Brazilian - then its about the same. Threading is for worse for me and I'm glad I did it.

If you need anything else, just ask

OK GUYS! You can look now! :rotfl2:

For the non-prescrips, I buy smaller bottles, or if I am nearer the end, just count out so I can throw the bottle away when finished (buy at costco). For the scripts, the 90 day supplies usually come in multiple bottles (big pills), so I count those out for the trip, too. Those I carry on.

My panic this time is that my DS17 is coming later with my husband, so I won't be able to check and make sure he has his meds (arthritis) with him. I am hoping that he will be responsible enough to remember them!

Ok while you were all chatting away I was packing. Came back here and it took me forever to ketchup. We have everything is 2 large suitcases, 1 medium case and a garment bag...and room left over for last minute items. :cool1: I still have some clothes that I need this week, plus our toiletries, medicine, etc. And we don't leave until Sunday morning. Then I gathered up all our memory cards and made sure they didn't have photos that needed to copied to the computer. (of course they did and I had to copy them and then delete) So now I have 5MB+ of memory cards and we are bringing the laptop, so I hope that is enough.

Medicine Question
What is the best way to pack your prescriptions? I have 5 different medicines I take every day plus 2 non presciption meds so I buy in bulk. I know you are supposed to bring the originally prescription but I don't want to bring 90 days worth of medicine x 5. And the vitamins and aspirin are in large bottes too.

Its perfect :goodvibes

Ok, to you guys doing Sea Life Park.... should I book 10:00 or 11:15?? I know...hard decision!! LOL...dh is no help.

I have 2 bags packed already!! The other 2 are in stand by, just waiting for the rest of the laundry to be done!!

Not sure where your going for the Sea Life Park but when we were in PV in July, we ended up going to the Dolphin Swim Encounter at 2 pm. It wasn't bad for us as we got in the water but when we got out and were waiting for the bus, OMG was the humidty and heat the worse. It was hot - I would suggest you get on as early and that way you can get back before its too hot.

DH gets sick with heat and he couldn't stand out in the heat for longer than 5 minutes before he had to duck inside. Of course, this is the man that can't stand heat and thinks I'm too dark! What does he know.

Seriously, it is hot and humid and if you got little ones, very uncomfortable. Carry around a water spritzer and spray them when they complain. It will lighten the moode and cool them off for one second1

Ditto! Thanks so much & the schedule is awesome. I really appreciate the thought & time that was put into this! :thumbsup2

Oh my! :scared1: ITA with this! No more biking riding June! ;)

I%27m+a+little+behind.jpg

I'm a little behind here lately! I can't even seem to make it to chat! All of sudden family & friends are inviting us over for dinner. I guess they figure, we'll be gone the rest of the summer so they better invite us now. Well it's nice & all, but I still have magnets, iron-on transfers & FE gifts to finish. :scared: Tonight we are invited to my BIL & SIL's for lobster, so I'll be behind again!

Well lobster is a little hard to pass up!

THanks, this isn't through DCL. The DCL packages were too expensive, and the place is booked and wouldn't let us book privately. Sea Life Park is another option. We need to take a taxi there and back :).

OK guys - the :tinker: fairy has returned and seems like I probably should attempt helping her with luggage. I'm going to actually shut down the computer in order to get something done. :lmao:

Hey Laura.....I was just thinking the only way you are gonna pack is to turn the computer off...but you beat me to it! :rotfl: Have fun with the packing!!

Yah razors would be good for me too. checked off my list to bring. LOL
Yeah, razors = goooood to bring
:lmao:

Ok BIP -

Just so you know - they do sell razors onboard. And with Monday being formal - just wear a long dress! (That's what I'm doing! :rotfl2: )

Just kidding - got my legs lasered years ago - best thing I did for myself in a long while. Now I can go a couple of weeks before touching up. :rolleyes1

As for having white legs - I just need a few hours in the sun under shade and with a sun factor of only 25 to get color! :)
Does a long skirt count? LOL

I sooooooo need to get my under arms and legs lasers. That is totally on my list of things to do once we've got this trip under wraps and are no longer on budget mania to afford a cruise. LOL
I think I can tan well- the problem is that if I'm outside I'm usually
A) dressed in capris so my legs aren't getting sun or
B) in some type of water (pools, waterpark, etc.) so my legs are obviously under water the majority of the time.

Once upon a time a few weeks ago I vowed to lay out for a bit each day to try to get sun on my legs. Catch me on the cruise to show you my "tan line" (when wearing my swimsuit please LOL) and I'll show you how long that lasted. :lmao: OMG i can't do the heat just laying there! Plus it's a hassle casue I have to time it just right to lay out under my patio where only my legs get sun because I can't get more sun on my face (when you see me- you'll see why- the face mask I got with pregnancy gets darker when I'm in the sun even if I slather on heavy duty sunscreen!) -so I just got tired of it. But you can see a faint faint line so I DO have some sun on my legs- not that anyone could tell without seeing my tan line at my thigh..... still looks white to me. LOL
My kids are like little indians (we do have indian in both sides of our family but they aren't NATURALLY that dark) because they spend so much time outside. IDK if they are their darkest right now but SOMETIMES they look like they aren't mine (ie: adopted or something). They are little tan boogers- just like I used to be when I was young. LOL

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one in panic mode worrying if DH will remember everything since he's coming in later than us..... I really don't like the idea of him having to remember stuff later. It's a recipe for disaster......... even with lists which I will leave him LOL

I was born and raised in Bklyn...lived there until 91!!

Lived there til 76, Flatbush, Erasmus. Then LI til 86 and now Fl

I used to take the labels off the drug bottles, put them on a paper.

PS

UPDATE EVERYONE......BREAKING NEWS......BBC NEWS ......

Started packing.

That's great news Andrew! Unfortunately, the suitcase fairy is not visiting the east coast today, probably not tomorrow either, so I guess I really need to start getting it in the suitcase. Although I do have most of it out on the dining room table and organized, does that count for packing???? :confused3

Wow, that's the closest to the top I have been in a year and a half

Since I will be one of the last to leave next Sunday maybe I can actually end up at a respectable level ;)

What time are you leavin' for the port on Sunday Crash????

Michelle

Me too, impressed with myself :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Looks like I may break 700 posts.

ooh I wanna know how to do the name ones! Tell me please!

I did mine in Microsoft Word. I'll assume that you have that since most people do.

Let me give you some quick step-by-steps. Practice a couple and it comes real easy then.

1. Go to Word
2. At the top menu, click View>Toolbars>WordArt
3. On the WordArt tool bar, click the left hand icon (Insert WordArt)
4. Choose one of the styles and click "OK"
5. Type in text and click "OK"
6. Right click on your text and click on "Format WordArt"
7. Click Color>Fill Effect>Picture
8. Select a picture file from your drive and click "OK"
9. You should see the picture in the letters of your WordArt.

Good luck . . . and have fun with this. I know that I am!

Here is one that I made for one of my friend's sons who worked in the College Program at Disney last year. He was a CM at the Nemo ride at EPCOT. It worked out perfectly since his picture formatted to the "L" in Kyle.

Hi guys...

I did the WB.. Hope you have a GREAT time!!! WE certainly did!!!

Just a quick one that is brought over from another thread..

Another thing to add to your packing (sorry...)

Make sure you bring cold meds with you. We all got what we affectionately call the "Cabo Crud" which was a cold that went around about the time we hit Cabo...

The store on board ONLY had Dayquil.... NO Nyquil... so I would suggest you throw something in if you think you will need it. I know CVS and Walmart both sell the boxes of Dayquil and Nyquil together... I had some and shared it with my fellow Disers who were hurting. ALSO... bring cough drops... I suggest Ricola... the cherry is very good - just in case you get a cough... better to have it than not.

Anyway... have a great time!!!

Michelle,
Thanks for the info!
