Since most of you won't see our cabin door, we are way forward on Deck 5 so not a lot of foot traffic, I wanted to share two door magnets my friend made for us and for my DS birthday. She has never been on DCL and is going to WDW for the first time next week. I was showing her some of the threads and how creative people get and this is what she surprised me with:

yay...we'll probably be hopping onto the 405 as you drive by....LOL
Our goal is to leave our house between 9:30 - 10:00!! I told all my family to be here by 9...so we'll see how that works out. It will be a bit chaotic having 16 people and 5 family members with 5 cars, driving us all to the port!

I always like to take 5 minutes to do a quick walk thru the house, once everybody has gone out the door, just to be sure all lights are off, no cups/dishes/cans or bottles are left, doors are locked etc.! If I don't do that myself, I second guess myself and ask my DH a million times...did you do this and did you do that! LOL

Oh No! Have spent the last 4 days in the hospital with DH. Drs. say he had a TIA (mini stroke). No lasting difficulties that we know of, but still running lots of tests. Hope they okay us for the cruise. Everything is bought and DD10 is already packed. I have lots that won't get done. Might be the worst dressed but as long as we're on the cruise...

Well, I'm getting rather excited as well as the rest of you.

Although, today, my mind is definitely fixed on things here present. A storm from hell raged through the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana and there is lots of damage here . . . downed lines, et cetera.

I was thinking about all you in Chicago area and IN. We had rain and one big clap of thunder. DD was at the park with a friend and I was in the basement. I called her on her cell phone and she answered, Yeah Mom I'm coming!"

We'll be here up until the morning of the cruise! So, will Terri (Nutty4Disney) I'm sure there are others! LOL!

We don't leave until next Thursday.

Ok Guys.. My DH packed this morning and we are all ready to go...

I could not believe it.. 9 more days to go....

Hey, that's great. It takes all I've got to get dd to put socks and shoes on in the morning!

Andrew, you had to know that these final 2 weeks would go slower than the preceding 18 months combined! The time space continum.. the closer it gets to vacation, the slower time goes by!

Michelle, those are so cool! What day does your DS turn 12?
I think I'm going to make a thread on the pirate board, for all the kids that are having bday's while onboard. My DD turns 10 on 8/19 in Cabo and I'm thinking we can pay it forward with the bday decor for the door, for the next kid's bday!

What a nice idea! DS turns 12 on 8/20 PV day. I think I sent you some of the Mickey bday paper, right? In that picture of our door from 2005 was a Happy Birthday banner that I will be reusing on this cruise. It has magnets on it already and I would be glad to share it with anyone who would like to use it before or after the 20th. Most of my magnets will be personalized so unless there is another Colin turning 12 on the 20th they will be of no use to anyone I will also crepe paper his room; let me know if someone would like me to save it.

Oh I read somewhere (pirate navigator perhaps? I can't remember for sure though) about the rugby practice and then something about if you're chosen for the team you'll get a jersey.. then later mention of players or "athletic supporters".
Does this mean DH has to "try out" for the team or something?
Just need to know so I can warn him..... that he may or may not make the team. He knows nothing about rugby but he thought he was playing.. he (we) didn't know he was having try outs for the teams! LOL

Don't worry. Everyone that signed up and wants to be on the team is on the team. Everyone will have a chance to play.

Forget about clothes, decorations and whatever else you are stressing about. Those are mere triffles.

Yanno we are all stressing about what to wear, what to bring, and quite frankly we all have too much stuff to cram into our suitcases - your comment about being "worst dressed" made me pause. Good golly we are all so lucky to be healthy enough and have the means to go on an adventure such as this.

Oy, timing is everything. DD12 has a sinus infection!! But doc said she can fly, and gave us at first 2 weeks of anti-biotics. When I told her we would be leaving next Thursday and be gone until Sept, she made the script for 3 weeks!! So DD is set!! DS has been complaining of a sore throat..so I might just bring him in to be on the safe side. Lets get all the sickness outta the way NOW!!

So, is anyone else flying Virgin America outta JFK next Thursday?? Would love if there were Disers on the plane. We could chat together via RED LOL!!!

Gosh I've gotten a lot accomplished today...
everything except my work that is...

1. Stopped the mail (www.usps.com)
2. Stopped the newspaper
3. Arranged for our dog sitter to bring Malley home a few hours before we arrive & turn our AC on.
4. E-mailed hockey coaches and asked them to leave a message on my cell if the boys have practice 9/2-5. Practices are supposed to start 8/15 & we still don't have a schedule!
5. Called both property managers & gave them emergency contact info. Told the VA manager to drive by if we have a big storm to see if there is a tree in my bedroom.
6. Made sure our credit union has travelers checks (Bonus: no fee!). Now I just need to get there before 6 on Friday.
7. Shuffled my hair appointment since I now have a conflict with the appt. I made a month ago!
8. Picking up my shortened dress and our dry cleaning on the way home
9. Mani/pedi/waxi appointment for the night before we leave - the official start of my vacation!

I need to finish the kid's cruise journals tonight...I'm late on those...
Then Drink of the Day Passport...

Gosh my door is going to be naked. I don't know when I'm going to make magnets. It's not like I've had 17 months or anything.

This was posted on 2-1-07, the day after we made our ressie, and it was post 7547 already! I didn't want to post before we were on the ship, because I didn't want to jinx myself. In fact, i was nervous about it even after having a cabin, because we were booked on the 2005 repo and had to cancel because of my school. I was really afraid that it would happen again. I'm so glad that I jumped in and became part of the crew (part of the ship, part of the crew, part of the ship)

And by the way, after a year and a half with y'all, I've gone from Type Lowercase a to TYPE A

I was going to say...."Is this the same Mike who did all the deck plans for us?" You have definitely joined the Type A ranks & we're so glad you did!

Well, I'm getting rather excited as well as the rest of you.

This morning I took a box to UPS and shipped it to the Grand Californian at DL. It will arrive by the end of the day August 11th and I check in August 13th, so it should be waiting for me. The box is filled with some of my clothes as well as Mass supplies (chalice, ciboria, hosts.)

I emailed the pastor at St. Boniface (parish nearest DL) and he is going to supply the altar wine for us for the cruise. One of the office staff or a volunteer is going to deliver it to the Grand Californian after 3:00 p.m. on the 13th, so we will be set for supplies!

Now, all I have to do is try to wait for next Wednesday to arrive.

I know it's scary, but I just want you to know that the same exact thing happened to my DH last April with no residule effects. They never did find the cause of the TIA, but believe it was brought on by a LOT of stress at the time. He is on an aspirin a day regime now & has lost a bit of weight & he is doing excellent. I wish all the best for your DH!

Work is what's keeping me sane right now! Fortunately, I can take a break and sneak onto the DIS periodically.

Went home last night and asked June if she had read the boards and she responded with -- you were on the DIS while I was slaving away getting ready for the cruise!
