Anyone up late...How is everyone doing? Things are getting in order with the tux ect...I am watching "Phil of the Future" with Aly on the show. :cool1:

Kids drive me crazy - my DS14 was texting at the wee's hour of the night and he is not suppose too. Gosh frustrating. Took away the phone for the night. Teenagers just don't get it. He kept asking why mom? Cause he has to be up for school band camp and he goes there from 9 to 9 and then he complains to me he is so tired. :headache:

I am thinking about getting my nails done. I am been trying to convince DH that I really needed to get them done before we leave. I don't know what I am going to do with my hair during the formal night. I am getting so nervous in a good way. Just don't want to forget stuff. And top of that I am Getting so EXCITED!!!!:dance3:

I hope everyone is doing well and wishing everyone "Happy Birthday" and "Happy Anniversary". :yay:

I am still racking my brain with the FE which is fine, I just have to get somethings for it. Also, getting the magnet door done or try too. I just been so busy with the kids since DD6 started school this week and DS14 has been in band camp all week.

No post cards yet that we have ordered. I just hope they come soon. I am not worried about it yet. But they better get here. :rolleyes2

It's suppose to be really "HOT" here in Colorado all this week, which I really love but the heat gets to us sometimes. :sunny: Might have to go to the pool when DD6 gets out of school. She didn't want to go on the bus today but I made her go on the bus after school. I just hope that she gets on the bus in the morning. She has been just a little nervous about it. I think that she is fine though. Also, today they wouldn't let her off the bus until I got down to the stop. She was way scared cause they said you can't get off the bus until your parent gets here. I was coming and the bus driver saw me but wasn't sure if I was her mom. (which today was the first day). So maybe it will get better. It just scared her a little bit cause they said you can't get off the bus. (she saw me coming).:confused3

So, I just hope that she does ok tomorrow. :flower3:
I hope you don't mind that I burned your ears off. Just kinda need to vent and bored ect..well I probably should go to bed. LOL

Take care,
talk my ears off all you want.
I'm still up!
I'm seriously getting worried now that my insomnia has progressed from "going to bed in the wee hours of the morning" to "can't go to sleep even when I'm dog tired" sigh......

I'm with you on the band camp thing. Ruby starts that next week (8am to 9pm! with breaks to eat ofcourse) and I'm not looking forward to hearing how hot it is (duh), how tired she is, etc. I'm quite sure I'll have trouble getting her to go to bed at a decent hour too-- just like your son! What is it with 14yr olds? LOL

Not next Thursday but the one after we can say "we are going tomorrow!" - woohoo!

Only 11 more work days to go.

One more pay day.

I could go on ... :rotfl:

Bit of a shock this week, Mum went for a general health check and as part of the routine they did an ECG - anyway, it turns out unknown to her, that she has had a heart attack. Not surprising with the death of her sister a few weeks back and the stress that would have put on her. Probably also explains why her blood pressure is a little high.

She's seeing the cardiologist tomorrow but as it was only found while doing a routine check and has had zero symptoms so her doctor isn't very concerned. More of a fluke that its been noticed. There is little she can probably do to change her lifestyle - she is active, a little but not a lot overweight and eats fairly healthily, doesn't smoke and doesn't drink.

I think she'll probably avoid telling the doctor and cardiologist about the thrill rides at Disney following the cruise - just try to stop her doing Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain... I'm certainly not brave enough to try.
I hope she's okay but I know how that can be scary!
Many years ago (Jeff is 40 now... this was probably when he was in his late 20's) during a routine check for work or something- I forget why.... maybe it was for the surgery on his neck? anyway, they did the same thing- and said the same thing- that unbeknownst to him he apparently had a mild heart attack or something. (he wasn't really sure when it happened- couldn't think of anytime except for many years before when he was mopping at work his chest hurt for a few minutes but ofcourse being in his young 20's at the time he thought it was a pulled muscle cause he was mopping- yanno?)
Fortunately he's been fine since...... and it's been atleast 10+yrs.. so just letting you know that's scary but it doesn't necessarily mean really bad things. yanno? :) Like the dr said.. don't be concerned since he isn't. :)

Prayers for her though!

and on another note....
Okay experienced cruisers... have you ever noticed that you take more on your first cruise and less after that when you realized you didn't need to bring everything including the kitchen sink the first time?
:rotfl:
I think that's gonna be the case for us.... even though this is a longer cruise! (this time I will wash clothes- so extra clothes isn't an issue)
I even had a small (carryon on size) piece of luggage that still had toiletries, hair stuff, and other misc. items in it SINCE THE LAST CRUISE! most of it we didn't use on the cruise and obviously if we haven't used those items in 2yrs and 2 mo since the cruise- not much chance we'll just happen to need it on the cruise, right? :lmao:
So I'm paring down the stuff... no unnecessary stuff this time packed "just in case". I need to pack as little luggage as possible because when we go it's just gonna be me and the kids and they aren't much help carrying stuff... especially Rita but really Robert isn't that great or coordinated with the stuff either. DH aka the packhorse (when it comes to luggage atleast! LOL) isn't flying in on monday with us- he won't arrive till Friday! The only other time we've flown somewhere without DH helping with the luggage was on a short me/kids trip to WDW and I tried to pack as little as possible then too- and luggage was still quite a pain since I had to carry/pull most of it myself. The kids are a little bigger now so they can help some- but I still need to limit it as much as possible.

I'm upset though because I can't find this one little box that had some stuff I'd bought on ebay right after our last cruise- and the box of stuff included this bag thing that is perfect for me to carry on the cruise- small but just big enough to carry on our documents/etc.with a water bottle attached (so I don't have to carry it seperate), etc. WHERE OH WHERE DID I PUT THAT BOX WHEN WE MOVED? I swear if it ended up given to Goodwill too.. like the huge box of BRAND NEW packages of kids pool stuff that Jeff took to goodwill when we moved (by mistake) I'm gonna cry. LOL

Okay off to keep trying to find that-since I obviously can't sleep.

but I was wondering if we weren't the only ones that packed WAY too much clothes, stuff, etc. "just in case" (and not wanting to pay high prices for things if we ended up needing them) on the first cruise- and then paring that way way down to a lot less stuff on subsequent cruises?

and just checking to make sure- is most everyone else taking clothes for about half the time of their vacation and washing clothes and rewearing stuff again? Just checking. I can't imagine packing enough for all 5 of us for 21 days... i was planning on packing enough day clothes for about a week- wearing those to DL the week before the cruise, wash those before going on the cruise, and rewearing those on the cruise- and then same with dinner/dressier clothes... and halfway thru the cruise washing everything and wearing it all over again.
So are most people planning on doing wash atleast once and/or wearing things more than once? Or will we be the only freaks wearing the same clothes again the 2nd week of the cruise, the 2nd semi-formal, the 2nd formal, etc.? I hope not! :scared1: :rotfl:

G'mornin' pirate:s
So here is some news from our Alaskan home - appears there was an episode of Wild Kingdom in our old neighborhood. This is a few blocks from our house! It's not like were were in the middle of the woods - it's on the river, but a typical cookie-cutter neighborhood that you would find anywhere in America.

HAMPER: A wicker container with a lid, usually surrounded By, but not containing, dirty clothing.

This is my fave!
:rotfl2:

No....I say 13 at least! LOL Silly teens!
Our "early" couples photo's look very similiar...ecxept I have big 80's hair and hubby still HAS hair! rofl.....kids love those pic's!

We are really boring - I think both our hair still looks the same. DH's is shorter now, but I still have big hair. That's all my hair does.

I think she'll probably avoid telling the doctor and cardiologist about the thrill rides at Disney following the cruise - just try to stop her doing Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain... I'm certainly not brave enough to try.

Yikes! I'm glad she's OK. I guess if you are going to have a heart attack, it is best to have one that you don't notice.

:lmao: :lmao:
Almost!
I think part of the reason we look so young is that we are standing with an alcoholic who is like 106 years old.
Aha, have to find a 106 year old alcoholic to stand next to during this cruise:thumbsup2

On the FE topic. I bought mine a couple of months ago and my parents were not participating. When I was at their house one day, watching the girls swim I went through their catalogs. I found a great FE gift so I talked them into buying and participating but they are too embarrassed about what I picked so I am trading FE gifts with them. :lmao: Y'all "know" me so I am not too embarrassed but they are not sure what people will think of them w/ giving out this gift. Have you worried now don't I? :rotfl2:
Looking forward to seeing what it is:lmao:

That's funny. Just tonight I was trying to think of a teenager to help me figure out how to get my new Mamma Mia CD on my IPhone. I swear I am the only person who has an Ipod and 2 Iphones and .......no music on any of them. :confused3
DS14 is helping me learn how to text on my phone:rolleyes1

I'm all for that! At the recent pace that should be no problem.

Or we could just name the next thread #14. I know a lot of office towers don't have a 13th floor (either that or the button disappeared from the elevator panel). :confused3
Yup, works for me:confused3
Moms dictionary
:lmao: Very cute:thumbsup2

LOL - our entire country is built on a fault line - hence the southern alps and the string of volcanoes the length of the country.

Glad everyone is ok in CA. It can be a little scary but you do tend to get a little blase about them once you been through a few dozen ;)

Meanwhile here in New Zealand we are having shocking weather - people have drown in floods and towns less than an hour away are being evacuated. :confused3 Some regions have declared a state of emergency. http://www.stuff.co.nz/4637457a11.html
:scared1: Hope it gets better:sad2:

So, I just hope that she does ok tomorrow. :flower3:

That's what we're here for:grouphug:

Hope your Mom is ok:hug:

Palo and semi-formal night get the same dress. Gonna see the same dinner clothes fairly often too:rolleyes1

15 yo's don't get any better either...:headache:

We have seperate clothes for each formal night but only will have a few casual dining options to mix and match so yes you may see some casual things more than once. (Unless i can fit a few more things in)

AS for daytime clothes...I pretty much live in swimsuit/shorts and T most of trip so those can be worn several times (after washing of course)

OMG......:scared1: I think i am having a panic attack... There is only two weeks left and i have so many things we don't have or can't get or have been stolen so now we don't have....

I sooooo need a screaming smiley as two weeks from right this second i should be sitting in the terminal at Dulles, VA waiting to board my flight.

cool- thanks for that! :)

I found the box! It was in the attic!
the bag is bigger than I remembered (it's a DCL little duffle bag type thing- apparently it was given to CC members years ago but I got it on ebay after our cruise and after reading about that's what they used to give you..... read about it here on dis LOL) but I found some other little trinkets I'd bought on ebay way back then (after our first cruise in 2006) and now DH is forgiven for breaking my DCL etched glass square DCL keychain the other day by dropping my keys..... because I found in that big box- not only a little box that was EMPTY (that held the keychain in it that he broke) but another one! I must have won an auction with 2 in there and decided not to give Jeff his cause he'd tear it up quick at work if it was on his keychain.

ANYWAY point is that there was a duplicate of the one I've had for 2yrs and he dropped it the other day (he had my keys cause he was putting in the new battery on my vehicle last week) and broke it... broke it off the keychain, broke bits of the glass square off the corners and such. Now I have another one -just in time for the cruise. hehe I'm so happy... I've had that on my keychain for so long I felt naked without it! hehe

I found some other stuff like disney tote bag, mickey purses, etc. It was like a mickey christmas in my attic.... WHAT FUN! All stuff I'd bought 2yrs ago and forgot about. :rotfl:

OMG, I wouldn't have been able to watch that:eek:

Luckily we only get skunks, deer and coyotes around here:rolleyes:

How bout instead of #13 we name the next thread -

8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC - Decent into the locker. (since many of us will be leaving during this thread)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIP

:woohoo: I love it when i find things....

We have a few rooms with piles of non-used stuff and sometimes i just have to conduct a methodical search of each room until i find things i knew we had.

Luckily ST isn't here this week (She tend to move things around on me...)

oh that's bad.. once a bear gets habituated (or whatever you call it) and starts coming into human living areas and teaching it's young too (ack!) then it's really hard to get them to stop.. and they usually have to be put down which is sad ofcourse- but that usually happens after someone gets hurt or they start doing major damage to homes, storage buildings, etc. trying to get to food. :(
I hope they decide to use dogs like I saw on animal planet once... a show about bears that keep coming back to inhabited areas (by humans I mean, ofcourse) so relocating them wasn't working- but they teach them to stay away by making loud noises, using dogs trained to bark and scare them, shooting guns, etc. Seems that works better than just relocating them or putting them down. I would be mighty scared if I lived in that area though.. I mean scared to like let my kids play outside and stuff. :(
From watching the show I learned that the worst is when it's a mama bear taking her cubs because it teachers the cubs from early on not to be scared of humans and homes/etc. :(

Or BIP's birthday thread cause it will probably only last a day till the next one.
LOL
I'm kidding but wait- scratch that anyway... bad luck 13! No way I want that to be my birthday thread! LOL

I know! I totally loved finding that box of neato stuff I'd completely forgotten about. It was totally like christmas. LOL

You had stuff stolen? :( :(

Don't tell me 15yr olds don't get better. I need HOPE to hang on to please. :lmao:
Last time (last cruise) i only got in my swimsuit at Castaway Cay- not a bit any other time on the cruise (not even on the ship). We'll see how much I get into it this time but I suppose I HAVE to for the water excursions we're doing this time. LOL
But you're bringing 4 formal outfits? *sigh*...... I don't even really have ONE truly formal something to wear- but I have what will pass for semi-formal and what will just HAVE TO DO on formal night.... and if anyone doesn't like it I double dog dare them to say anything to me about it. LOL

I be like- well give me your credit card and I'll be glad to buy something on your dime at the next port. LOL

I'm hearing ya... I have LESS than 2wks. I mean OMG next Monday I will only have one week left to get everything done!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIP

thank you- beautiful cake! :)

I cannot believe I'm stil up at 6am. Insomnia truly stinks, I tell ya.

I plan on washing clothes a few times, and definitely there'll be repeats on the semi-formal and formal clothes. Since it's just DS and myself, I'm the only to handle the luggage so I'm limiting us to one big suitcase and either one smaller one or a big duffel bag and will be trying to leave some room in those for souvenirs.

Thanks!
I assume that means you'll be repeating some of the regular clothes too?

I think I'm going to ATTEMPT to take just 3 checked bags (for the 4 of us) and just 2-3 carryons... maybe less. Maybe like one official carryon and the kids carrying backpacks with stuff in the bags for them during the flight. hope hope hope that works!
I don't think we can handle one checked bag plus one carryon for each of us- atleast I know Rita can't help with a big checked size luggage...... maybe if it was EMPTY she could- but not if it's close to 50lbs full. LOL The best would be each of us (me/eldest dd/son) with a big checked luggage, and maybe me carrying a carry on and Rita pulling a carryon.. then once we check the luggage I'd still have a carryon -or two... or have eldest dd then carry the carryon that Rita had at first.... something like that. If we can manage to get everything in that few bags. It's the FE gifts and shoes that is gonna make this hard to do. LOL

When DH comes later in the week I was thinking he'd have one checked luggage and one carryon- but the checked luggage wouldn't be completely full at all... like half his clothes/stuff on the carryon and the other half in the checked luggage (in case his bag was lost he wouldn't have to walk around naked on the cruise LOL) and then on the way home that's room for us to bring home stuff I know we'll accumulate even if we try not to. The kids do have some money to spend and I'm sure we'll have photos and things from shutters, dolphin excursions, and somehow all our stuff will grow exponentially during the cruise where the same things we brought with us will all the sudden TAKE MORE ROOM on the way home- for some reason. LOL

Hey I found 2 disney cruiseline cups in the box!
Woohoo.. won't have to take our big WDW resort cups to use on the cruise- i'll take our DCL cups I forgot I'd bought on the last cruise. :rotfl:

Oh and I found a personalized princess sweatshirt for Rita- that thankfully will still fit her.... long as she doesn't have a major growth spurt before we get cold like in Jan or Feb. LOL

You guys don't seriously think we need to bring things like sweatshirts for DL in August- do you?

You had stuff stolen? :( :(

But you're bringing 4 formal outfits? *sigh*...... I don't even really have ONE truly formal something to wear- :

DD smuggled the good digital camera to camp and another camper stole it. The camp director and GS council refuse to get involved so ....we have no camera now... Being the jobless person i am right now... can't replace it..

As for formal; i thought only 3 nights (2 formal; 1 semi)

I gladly loan some dresses around if they would work for you.

hmmm so far...for dinners i know i could potentially pack (this is just me)

~ princess formal dress
~ regular formal dress (strapless blue)
~ Semi-formal (black strapless)
~ sorta dressy pantsuit
~ black/white casual dress
~tan sundress
~aloha mickey dress
~ pink sundress
~Mickey mouse club shirt (casual)

(note no pirate outfit yet..) I just can't find anything i like. The older stuff i had is too big; can't really be altered down)

I just caught the tail end of something on CNN (started paying attention after I hit submit on my last post) and omg...... they showed video of AA having some luggage glitch and like the WHOLE AIRPORT ( the whole baggage areas anyway- but seemed like the whole airport! LOL) is full of unclaimed luggage or something? OMg piles and piles of luggage.

that just raised my fear of lost luggage like a billion times over. LOL
We're flying AA!
sigh...........

Really? XD is pretty much everywhere around here- SD would be hard to find though. LOL

Very strange. I've looked at all the stores here (Walmart, Target, Sam's, Costco and there are only 2 brands of XD cards I can find... Olympus and one other). For SD cards, there are like 4 or 5 brands and all different sizes from 1 GB up to 8 GB and the prices are reasonable. I usually buy them on buy.com or costco.com as their prices are the best.

yeah they had to hand check all the luggage cause xrays weren't working...

US Scare had luggage issues too when they had that strike a couple years ago.

Is it only one semi? I wish it was only one formal, 2 semi. LOL

And thank you for reminding me one night will be the mickey mouse club shirts. I'd forgotten that and that's one less night of rewearing something. LOL
I've borrowed dress from sister, found dress/jacket in closet that will still fit, borrowing Tiki Mickey top/skirt from fellow PC cruiser (huge thank you to her!), bought 2 blouses to wear with capris so I don't have to wear dressy type T SHIRTS every night. LOL and then ofcourse the mickey mouse club shirts and shirt I plan on wearing on pirates night if I don't gain any more weight by then cause it's already pretty tight. But I figure THAT night no one is gonna care if I'm wearing a shirt a bit on the tight side..... it's supposed to fit tight and not loose (the shirt I'm wearing I mean... you'll see). DH is just wearing a pirates tee that night- we're not dressing up as pirates- can't afford to buy costumes and I'm not handy enough to make them. So we'll be one of the few not in pirates costumes unfortunately.

But all that I mentioned above, except for the tiki mickey top/skirt and the pirate shirt and the mickey mouse club shirts- will all have to be worn more than once.. people can just deal. Maybe they'll recognize me by my clothes the 2nd time around. LOL

I have Olympus and something else (too lazy to go dig them out and look). I usually buy them online to get them cheaper- or at Staples when they are on their clearance table. LOL (the smaller sizes tend to end up there)
I thought you meant you couldn't find XD anywhere... I didn't know you meant you couldn't find many BRANDS of XD.
SD are cheaper because they are older- XD is the newer thing... not new new but newer than SD. And I don't think they have tons of brands of XD either- although I may be mistaken.
Staples and Office Depot has lots of sizes of XD though.
