hi everyone! i haven't been around in awhile...sick with a major ear infection! hope everyone is doing well...i really can't believe the countdown is nearing the end!!! in a week and a half we will be in cali!!
i've been having trouble finding postcards for the kids exchange...anyone have any ideas for me? we have no souvie places around our area...and i hate to wait til we get to cali to get some. where did everyone else find them? nothing like waiting til the last min!!!

Shannon....hope you are feeling better soon. We ordered from Vista print as many others did. Just received them yesterday, and they look great! Very quick service.....you probably still have time if you order soon!

How expensive is your insurance in Florida???? We have friends who are on Tampa Bay and Pay over $10,000 for house insurance.

I am in NC but the cost of the policy depends on the replacement cost of the house. We are paying a little over 3000 for our new home. We don't need flood insurance even though we are on the river. We are right near the mouth of the river and I would guess that the houses sit about 20 feet above the water level.

We are still covered for a tornado which can also have massive destruction!!!

We have mega ins. on everything. The never know factor. At first we had a really hard time finding wind ins. yes wind and it took 30 days before we could get it covered, I was a little worried but it worked out.

ATTENTION - PIRATES WHO ORDERED LANYARDS​

I have 78 envelopes of lanyards/partches to hand out to my fellow pirates who ordered lanyards...I really would like to have as few as possible when I get to the terminal. I have several ways for you to pick them up:

If you are staying in the DL Resort area...I will have a room at the GC on Friday, the 15th... I know you will be at the parks but if on your way out or a small break in the evening - if you could come by the hotel and pick them up -it would be appreciated. Please send me a PM and I will provide you my cell number. I will be in the room from 6:00 P.M. - midnight. (Well..I will be there all night but up until midnight) I will give you my cell # and you can give me a call and I will give you the room number. Between 7 - midnight..I can run them down to the lobby for you.

If you are in the DL Resort (any of the DL hotels or surrounding area) area staying .. you can send me a PM and I can make other arrangements to come by your hotel and drop them off. I would prefer not to leave them at the front desk as I do not want anything to get lost.

If I am having lunch/dinner with you at the DL resort..I will bring yours with me.

If you are attending the EP or DTD mini meet - please send me a PM and I will bring it with me.

If you are doing the DT dining - I will bring it there - please send me a PM.

And finally..I will be in the terminal with those I could not drop off before hand. I will attempt to be near check -in but can not promise. I will have the TOAL pirate shirt on and my lanyard on as well...look for me! I will also be at the meet on Deck 10 at 2:00 p.m.

FEMA will NOT make you whole. Their individual assistance is capped at about $28,000. There are a bunch of subcaps, like $5,000 for home repairs or rental assistance.

The average FEMA payout for disasters since 2000 is about $3,000 - $4,000 total (per household).

Roger, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but FEMA is great at PR, lousy at actually providng assistance.

Well we (I use the Royal "We" as in I just watched while DH's did it) got the "free" ($25.99 x 2) postcards ordered from Vista Print.
That "free" part was certainly a farce. 2 Uploaded images + shipping = 25.99 per girl. Now at least each one has their own postcard to hand out at the kids postcard exchange. Has it been decided where the kids are going to meet to exchange?

I took today off to get last minute shopping done for the cruise and just ended up taking oldest DD and her BFF shopping and to lunch. Oh well! There is 2 more weeks left.

Holy cow! Mine was only like $10 (and some odd cents) for shipping, and like $3 (and some odd cents) for 1 uploaded image. How in the world did your total come to that? I only printed one order of 100 cards, and I figure my kids can take turns handing out.

Safe assumption with insurance - there is an exclusion in your policy for the event that caused you damage and you will need to fight to recover any money.

Well I tested my policy out 5 years ago from a hail storm. State Farm paid $10,000 to have my house resided. I had old aluminum siding in lemon yellow. Now I have a brown light colored siding just like everyone else. My insurance actually went down from$593 a year to $498 after I had the claim. I guess the house is worth $330,000 so insurance here is cheap!! We do have 10% sales tax and a 3% state income tax.

Just got my packet from Nationwide (which was the only one to offer condo insusrance at the time).$640.Up from 360 in 2004. Now remember, this is for the contents. The association holds the insurance for the building and we pay thru the nose for that. That is the main reason the maintenance went from 125 to 250 in 8 years.

After Hurricane Charlie they were literally handing out $2000 checks right on the spot. But when the other 2 blew thru everything was stalled. Insurance is a necessity.

Wow....I mught have to get a job to pay for house insurance when we move to Florida.
