But it it is something "uncool" that we would normally have to pack, we will be eternally grateful to you as we DON'T pack it . . .:goodvibes

Saving packing space would be much appreciated!

It took me awhile to figure out how I would top the cards , and actually thought about doing that , but the cost for 125 decks was unreal ... So after some searching and actually finding someone to do these cause of possible copyright infringement i knew it was too cool not to do ...I know the kids are going ot like them , but I also think the Adults will like them more then the kids ....

The tattoos are awesome. I wonder where my Nick will put his?

NicksTattoo.jpg

I'm really happy with our FE gift, but I think we're going to run short. I'm looking for something else to give out if I run out. :confused3 The problem is, even though the gifts I got are pretty cool (IMHO), they were inexpensive. So I'm trying to find something else cool AND cheap.

Most of mine are just fun stuff...nothing fancy or really unique like the tatoos. I did "theme" them to the days I am delivering them tho (its that event planner in me I tell ya!) however...there is one I am really proud of..it's my final gift...and I shall share cuz I thought they were kinda cool...

They are ink pens (nothing fancy) and I had printed on them:

Across the ocean and the Panama Canal through..it's been fun sailing with you!

DCL Magic - August 2008

That's nice!:thumbsup2

Pamela

P.S. Why are there sooooo many Californians on this cruise and so few from the midwest?

For us, having the ship on our own backyard means we have to go on it. We had already done the Mex. Riviera in 2005 so had to do the PC this time. Only having to fly one way..home...was icing on the cake!!

At this point, we don't have any yet either. My kids, especially DS10, are plain eaters and they didn't really care for Blue Bayou when we ate there 2 years ago. IMO, I would go with Storytellers Cafe at the GC. The food is very good and I think it would be a great place for a birthday. I will ask the kids when they get up and see if they have any other suggestions. Will you have a car? If so, the fried chicken dinner at Knott's Berry Farm is another one of our favorites. Just my thoughts.:)

Knotts fried chicken dinner is amazing...I love their biscuits!! YUMMM

I bunch of my desert buddies have those for emergencies. I was going to bring a GPS but.....I think I'll bring this little puppy:

sonygpscs1.jpg

It's a Sony GPS tracker for photographers. It comes with software which marries the timestamp on your photos with the GPS track so you can find out where you where when you took a given pic.

It has linkes to Google Earth etc.

Andy

Andy, I SO should not show that to DH...but do share ...

My kids LOVED the Kids Newsletter!! Really increased the excitement (and nervousness) of this TOAL!!
Appreciate all who contributed!

My DD felt so special today that she got a newsletter all about the cruise!

I used to make special trips over to Knotts for the fried chicken.....until I tried it at Plaza Inn on Main Street...haven't been back to Knotts since.

Your right Monica...both have amazing fried chicken dinners!!

Okay , I know I should have waited , but I couldnt ..... The Fed Ex truck just came and brought our FE gifts for everyone and they are so flippin cool I am brakin my code of silence to share ....Just dont tell the kids .... well of course there is plenty for everyone .......

so how cool is that ????

pirate:

Those are amazing!! Well done and thanks for sharing them and the info where you got them!

I can't remember who it was now...but somebody had a child who is also having a bday while on board on August 19th. ???
My DD turns 10 on that day too and tells everybody we're going to Cabo for her bday! LOL

I have a cruise/medication question.
My son, 15, has special needs and takes a bit of medication 3 x day. He is very sensitive to time changes for his meds, and I remember many time changes on the Mex. Riviera cruise..making it difficult to keep him on schedule without having wake him up super early or super late to take them. We also tended to get so busy onboard that a few times we lost track of time and almost gave it to him late.

So I'm wondering if anybody knows of an inexpensive medication alert or alarm that can be set for all 3 of his medication times...to avoid any problems!

Thanks!!

My boss is a 50-something workaholic. Never had a husband or kids. Takes pride in actually losing vacation days because she carries too many year to year. Leaves the office about 8 each night. Rolls her eyes when people go on vacation...

I think the key question is whether your boss truly loves her work. If she's having fun and is passionate about it, then this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The real trick is to find work you love so much that you want to do it in your free time.

HOWEVER, before I run = in reply to your mention of the 50ish work-a-holic.... two things: a) I DID mention that everyone should get what they exercise as thier 1st priority (for better or worse), and b) I recall how my parents never took vacation or holidays for the 20+ years they ran their business. It was run litterially 365 days a year ... 11 to 7 or 9 on weekends and holidays. And I grew up in it - never having a vacation - and thinking gee... doesn't EVERYONE do this too? And yeah ... point "B" is precisely why Alicia constantly refuses to let me go into some kinds of businesses - because this is likely to be the way I'd run it... never taking a day off.... if I did.

If it were not for my volunteer jobs, I too probably would work almost non-stop (I do enjoy my work). I've chosen volunteer work that forces me to leave my computer and have fun, and I'm sure I've gotten as much (or more) from volunteering than I've given.

Cool tats! Todd. I don't see your branded pirate "P" on you forarm.

DH doesn't drink (well not unless we're on vacation atleast) but the latter works everytime because half the time I DO tell him stuff and he doesn't remember. So it's totally believable that I already told him something and he's just not remembering (or rather not listening....... LOL)

The other day I said something to Dh about already telling him something and he turned to 28ds and said *The sad thing is that even if she really didn't tell me I have no way to prove otherwise since my history (of not listening) speaks for it's self* :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm excited, DMIL is excited. DW is soo busy that she just realized she needs to make her pirate night costume (The one from our last cruise won't do for the TOAL). She's excited now, or.....maybe panic just set in lol.

Andy

Unfortunately Dh didn't have the time (for fittings and such) to get his made.:sad2: He will just have to add a few things to what he has from last time. He thought he had this past year to get it worked on and then he was in carge of buying a large building and having it totally redone, opening a store in England.... and he decided that WE needed to move! LOL!

Posting from the bar behind my house.

Thoughts and prayers for those who need them.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to those celebrating.

Excuse any typos as I am 3 drinks in. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Monica I will also need to join you at Rockn' D. Sorry I can't make it up to Sac during the week to help with the t-*******.

I hope everything is ok!!!

Warning...this is a vent. We are going to an out of town swim meet this weekend that begins Friday late afternoon, so we have to leave Friday morning. DH's boss, who has no kids has rescheduled a meeting 3 times and decided that Friday for lunch is the day. There is no way we can wait for him and make the meet in time. He told his boss that he can't be there and she basically said well either you come to the extended lunch meeting or you might not have a job. Then the only other weekend this summer that my DD has a dance performance that she has been working on since January, my DH's boss has decided to have an executive retreat! UGH!! Yes, I am happy he has a job and makes enough that I don't have to work but this lady drives me crazy! It just isn't right. Someone else asked about the next weekend and she said no, she can't make it. I love how it is all about her and what works best for her. I won't even mention all the kids' events he has missed because of work related stuff. :sad2:
The reason I quit my job was because he isn't around that much and someone needs to be here. Not his fault at all, but man is this frustrating. Does anyone out there need a really hard working CFO? This was even after he and I went out for margaritas tonight.:scared1:
Grand Cayman is looking better and better to move to. Life just shouldn't be this complicated.

I am so sorry for this!!! DH used to miss ALOT of things because of his work schedule & travel schedule.
DH can't stand their CFO......she is a royal pain.......

Todd...I know that I'm not a part of the DIS FE exchange...but if I beg, can I have a tattoo?? :worship: :worship:

Sorry about being MIA today. I have a feeling it might look bad....but my head is all messed up today. There was a local fire and a woman who died in it, and sadly I am somewhat connected to it.

I wasn't trying to avoid you all....just messed up today.

Not cool to hate anyone for their size. No matter what size. :sad2:

Sorry - should have had a 'pet peeve' alert.

Your's and mine both!!!! Oldest dd and I had a talk about this a while back. She had finally had enough from a couple of the women that work in the accounting dept for dh
(dd worked as a receptionist when they needed a *fill in*).
They would say things to her everyday *Just wait one of the days you're going to be as fat as us.* After months of listening to them everyday she snapped (she called me from the office because she felt really bad for what she said) and she said to them *I will never be fat like you. You know my father, you know my grandmother, my mother is thin, also. We do not keep food in our desk drowers to snack on between meals.*

DD asked me how come it was ok to make fun of thin people (and they really did make fun of her every chance they got) but, you're a horrible person if you tell someone they're fat?

As someone that was really thin most of my life (I am 5'6" and until I was 30 and had 3 children I weighed less then 110, until I was over 40 and had already had 5 children I weighed less then 120....... I don't weigh alot more then that now. But, at over 45 my *fat cells* have expanded and I don't look *skinny* any more)

BTW-- it is a fact that over 45 your fat cells double in size! LOL! At least that is what I have read in books on health for women. ;)

Prayers to you and the family of the woman!

Well, then...I am going to take that as gospel, use it as my own story and run with it! ;)

And you're right. Fat, skinny, bald, hairy, ugly, pretty.....doesn't matter. Being mean is still being mean.

I will have PLENTY of extras , there was a big minimum (1000) plus they gave me 100 extra , Im figuring 4 to an FE which will probably end up being 150 , cause I will just hit everyone :lmao: thats a total of 600 and that leaves a whole lots of extra.... But I think Ole Capt Jack will be handing them out on Pirate night as well ..... So if you do have an extender just take a look inside other wise come track me down , I will make sure I set some aside for you ....

Love the image Crash. Thanks for your many musings. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your family in person.

We are so lucky to be going on this wonderful cruise. I'm getting pretty excited even if the rest of my posse aren't - 5 weeks today we leave.

Real cruise related questions!

1. Do they cash travelers checks at guest services, or will I need to arrive with large quantiites of cash?

2. Will they give you an extra keycard for your cabin? Just to get in, not charge.

3. Do you think Rit Sunguard will be OK to use on the pirate gear shirts we ordered?

Thanks!
