I am down to 2 room numbers.

Does anyone know LynnTarrant or Kimberly Hahn!!!
Those are the only room numbers left to finish Party Hearty (8:00 pm.) dining.

Cheryl,
Still trying to get the number from Lynn. I am working on it.

I just taped mine on. And instead of using the 2nd expensive roll of magnetic tape (yes, I plan on returning that one LOL) the lightbulb finally went off due to someone else's post and I started cutting up some of the BAZILLION magnets we have on our fridge from various businesses, etc. and taping those on! geesh why didn't I think of that sooner? LOL

penny for your thoughts please

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on this. Well on these 2 issues.

Concerning the age changes... I'm still not keen on my eldest being in the teen section and BEFORE I realized it wasn't up to 14 in the OC I'd mentioned that to her- and now she thinks she's in the OC age group and doing the activities /not hanging out in the stack/etc. ARe they gonna let me put her down with 11-13yr olds? Trust me not a problem with her getting along with them and enjoying the activities....... just not sure if they'll let her and then she'll be disappointed with the "hanging out" in the stack. She's not a hang out kind of person. LOL
But do they really do lots of activities in the 11-13 age group I wonder? Like they did with the 10-12 age group she was in last time?

If I let her go to the teen group and she's just totally miserable- do you think they'd let her switch to the younger age group? Would you suggest trying that first as it might be harder to switch to teen group (since everyone says that first night is a "do not miss" in order to make friends/etc. in the teen group) later for some reason- than it would be to maybe switch to younger group if she's just having a totaly boring time in the teen age group?

Okay #2
Your thoughts on putting my barely just turned 8yr old (youngest DD) in the club instead of the lab?
Couple of reasons.......
A) she's just barely turned 8
B) she's small for her age- not that size matters but she just tends to gel better with kids her age or younger, not OLDER kids up to age 10. yanno? For instance she's all excited to see Claire again but she won't be with her- Claire is 7 and will be in the club! She was NOT pleased when I explained that to her. :(
C) she'll be in the same age group as her brother... okay so my kids aren't lovely little angels and the younger two ESPECIALLY don't always get along so great. At the time we booked I thought she'd be mostly grouped off with 8-9yrs old and he'd be with 10-12 but now that's all changed and they'll be together.
D) she still just likes the type of things they would do in the club and not sure she'll like the activities in the lab that would relate to older children up to age 10...... the stuff they did in the lab on the last cruise interested my older two but would not interest my daughter, even now- so if they do the same type of stuff (ie: both still have similar activities for the same ages as before) she's not gonna dig it so much. My son will have a blast- but she will probably be less inclined to spend time in the lab as she would in the club.

So what do you think? Should I put her down in the club or in the lab with the big kids plus her brother?? It seems to me that she wouldn't be out of place in the club- she hasn't changed much in things she likes to do/etc. -she likes all the stuff she liked when she was in the club before- and it seems to me that there are probably going to be quite a few kids that are basically "her age" but maybe a month or two younger than her (therefore still 7). And she's little for her age too- so it's not like she'd be towering over 7yr olds... that's for sure. (ie: she's STILL wearing the same princess 2pc swimsuit she wore on the last cruise...... 2yrs ago...... size XS .... yesterday she wore some shorts she's had for years and I kid you not- they are SIZE 24MO SHORTS. Apparently she still has the same hiney size as a toddler? LOL)

What say you, pirates?

From what I have gathered from other posts and the DCL rules 1 of them might have a chance and the other one is probably stuck....

The 14 yr old is probably the one stuck...I personally have never read or seen an Older child allowed to enroll in a younger area...However the 8 year old may have a chance I am not sure...If she is within a month of her birthday they may allow you to use the "1 month" rule that applys upward, to use downward...If not then I'm afraid she's going to have to move up also...

sorry....

Really?
What I've read in the past seemed to suggest that it's harder (if not impossible- except sometimes when their birthday is very close) to move your child UP to an older age group than what they are in- but moving down isn't as big of an issue. (for instance I thought no way my son could move up to the next age group because he has 2mo till he turns 11, but thought I'd heard it's easier to move DOWN an age group to be with friends/etc.)
But you have heard it's the opposite? Interesting......

Okay but anyway, what are your THOUGHTS on it- let's say they would allow them to go the other age group....... do you think it's a good idea/bad idea for both/each?

I would like to thank all of the people offering their verandas for all of us porch less folks on deck 1 and 2 and inside cabins. I do have a counter proposal to offer though. If any of you would like to get a once in a lifetime shot of the actual walls of the locks maybe you could stop by and take a picture out of our window. I mean everyone can get a picture from deck 10 but only us lucky lower deck pirate:s get a view of the actual lock walls. :lmao:

You're on Roger, I will be there...and my verandah is your verandah

You won't have any problem moving her to the 10-13 group. Just let them the counselors know upon boarding. Personally I would ask your child if she wants to try the teen club and take it from there. If she does let the counselors know she wants to try it but may want to move down.

Personally my kids were always for going into the next age bracket even if they just turned that age. Your 8 year old may find the 5-7 yr old group too boring depending on how busy she likes to keep.

They usually don't give you a problem moving kids down but it will also depend on how many kids they have in that group. The best thing is to speak with the counselors when you board

I would also show the kids the navigators and go over some of the items that are offered in each age group and see which appeal to them the most.

You can see the navigators with the kids activities from the WB Repo
here

If it were me I would also stress to my kids that they could only switch ones. I would tell my kids that they could try one day at each level and then they have to decide. This way they know they have to make a decision. I don't think the counselors will allow going back and forth to the different age groups more then once anyway.

My DD is 13, just shy of her 14th bday by two weeks at the beginning of the cruise and just 4 days shy by the end of it. I am going to see if they will let her move up to the teen club as I know she would be bored in the 10-13 yr old group. I actually hoped she would prefer the younger group but I know even when she was 10 she was bored with the Lab and didn't spend much time there.

Just got online and got our flight information. We don't arrive in LA until noon. I am a little worried. :scared1: We only have 40 minutes to catch a connecting flight in DFW.:confused3 Fortunately we are fairly familar with DFW as that is where my inlaws live. So I am sure we won't be seeing anyone in the terminal and hope to make the Sail Away meet. So keep your fingers crossed for us to make all the connections and get on the ship before it sails.:scared: I was hoping letting DCL make the arrangements would make it easier.

We got flights!

Remarkably good ones actually - early morning arrival into LAX (so we should have most of the day at DL on our pre-stay). 1:55 departure from MCO, which should give us enough time to get through Labor Day security without stress, and still get us home in good time.

Curiously - they are flying us on Alaska and American, not Delta!

Kids take everything literally. My dd still does and she's 10. The other day she told me someone was teasing her about her name. I said that they were just trying to get her goat.

This was her answer," Mom, I don't have a goat. I wouldn't even know where to find a goat and there aren't any farms nearby. And why would she want my goat if I had one?" I thought I was going to drive into the curb. She had me laughing so hard! :lmao:

OMG, you better write that one down for prosperity.....

Looks great!

Red Sox fans here too ;) At least this year my youngest has become more tolerant of fans of other teams. On our 2nd cruise, back when you still stood in line in front of the Mickey ears to board, he saw a little boy wearing a Yankee hat standing on the other side of the rope. He turned to me and said, "Eeewww MOM! You don't think he's really a Yankee fan, do you??" Apparently he thought the ropes were sound proof :scared: I said, "Yes, honey I'm sure he is a Yankee fan." The other little boy's Mom heard the exchange. She looked over at me, smiled knowingly and said, "That hat hardly ever leaves his head." :)

Very cute. Mets fans here, but don't get into baseball as much as football. Love football, and we are definitely (yes I'll admit it) J-E-T-S fans here. Season ticket holders.

I say you know your children best. If you think the girls would be better off in the younger groups, then it won't hurt to ask and see what happens. However, I'd probably chat w/the girls about what you want to have happen, and then let them know that it might not work. Just in case Disney isn't able to accommodate your request, they will be prepared.

On our last cruise, my youngest DS was 7. It was his 4th cruise, and his 4th time in the lab. He was still 4 months away from his 8th b-day. But I talked to the counselors that I was afraid he'd be bored doing a lot of the same things for the 4th year in a row. They said no problem for him to move up into the lab w/the 8-9, then my DS decided he wanted to stay in the club

Just wondering if anyone got a connecting stateroom on deck 2 that doesn't need one? We got 2 rooms side by side but we have three young children :dance3: so we were hoping for connecting, They tell us we are waitlisted for connecting.

I have a deck 2 connecting that I would love to not be connecting. Sarangel has the other connecting room. I cannot imagine it would work to switch rooms though. But, what is your room numbers? The only thing I am happy about w/ my room is that it is not below anything too noisy.

I got mine from Amazon. If I am not mistaken they require/recommend you to have a neck strap for the ziplines. I actually read an article about the SW-770 (30ft) camera that a bunch of divers took down to 100ft to test it. It was slow to respond but still took pictures at 100'. So I figure that the 790 is good to at least 20'.

Good then it will work on the 2 feet (at most) I will be underwater. ;)

Thanks Stace. That was the one I was thinking about

Overcast day and I woke up with vertigo. Hope it goes away soon as DH has an appointment at 10. Yuck.

As for the magnetic strips, have you guys tried spray adhesive? should work.

I am sorry Arlene. Several people in my family suffer from Meneres (sp?) and the vertigo can make them sick.

C) she'll be in the same age group as her brother... okay so my kids aren't lovely little angels and the younger two ESPECIALLY don't always get along so great. Wait, 8 and 12 yo's will be together? I sure hope so as DD,8, will be more likely togo if her sister does and I like the idea of them keeping an eye on each other.

Mmmm....green chili! Count me in! :)

I say we call it the "Green Chili Fan Club". :)

Gotta be honest, that would make me nervous. The storms can be bad that time of the year here. As you know terminals mean everything here. If you have to switch terminals you are going to have a very hard time making that short a connection.
What airline are you flying?

Hi everyone

I tendered my resignation today...I have mixed emotions...I will miss the kids and feel awful I could not say good bye...but it was time...
Chrissie

Chrissie,
if you have a few minutes, look for a book titeled "Who Moved My Cheese" . I was out with a on-duty spinal injury that almost cost me my abilty to walk, and I was more conerned about not being able to go back to work. I know my priorities were a little twisted. But, with a lot of PT and the huge support of my DW, I was able to make it back to work full-duty.
But I learned a very valuable lesson. actually 2 lessons. Family First, no matter what, and Work to live, Not Live to Work
best wishes,

Got our flight info last night. I think we're leaving at 1:45p out of Orlando. Not sure what time we get back home, but definitely enough time to do laundry before work the next day! WOOO HOOOOO!!!!! We can finally fill out all of our Online Check-in paperwork. YAY!! This is starting to feel real!!! Only 29 more days until the wedding and 30 until the TOAL! :cool1:  :yay: :cool1:  :yay: :cool1:  :yay: :cool1:  :yay: :cool1:  :yay:

You're right- we do know our kids well don't we? LOL
My eldest was 12.5 on the last cruise and had a tee-total BLAST in the lab last time. She's a wee bit imature for her age though (and might I add- also ADHD so that's one reason she'd rather be on the go doing things rather than just "hanging out". yanno?)
when I'd told her it was 11-14 (cause I thought it was!) she was all excited about actually having activities, asking me if they'd still do things like they did last time even though they were located in the OC this time, etc. I haven't told her (yet) that I've since found out it's only up to age 13 because I didn't want to disappoint her and just see if they'd allow her to go in that age group.. and then if not, well..... we'd have no choice then would we? (but I have a feeling I'd end up with a "ruby" attached to my hip the entire cruise.... wanting to DO STUFF. LOL)

Again knowing my kids.. I highly doubt my youngest will find the club boring. She still acts like she's still 5 like the last cruise (complete with still wanting to dress up like a princess and say she's a princess, play with baby dolls, gets along well with younger kids, etc. That last part might be partly because she's little for her age and just navigates towards kids her SIZE which end up being younger than her? I dunno....
She gets along with kids exactly her age too but IDK about kids older than her. She started school very young -barely 5 for kindergarten and I thought she'd get experience with older kids considering my older two started school LATE since they have later birthdays and had to be 5 before starting school. So I thought she'd be in classes with some kids close to a year older than her- yanno? But nope.. last year she was in a class that was ALL kids that had barely turned 7 before they started that school year.. and she was STILL the shortest kid in class LOL)
And then we have the "brother" to deal with... I'm really not sure how well it would work out with those two in the same group! LOL They could surprise me and it might be okay- but it could be a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not sure the crew members are up to the task of trying to ignore these two arguing.... sometimes I find it hard to tune it out and I'm their mom! LOL)

Wait, 8 and 12 yo's will be together? I sure hope so as DD,8, will be more likely togo if her sister does and I like the idea of them keeping an eye on each other.

No dear, I'm sorry for the confusion. My son is only 10. I was saying that the way it USED to be- she'd have been in the lab but in the 8-9 age group and he would have been with the 10-12 age group. But now it's 8-10 together in an age group so now they will be together..... when we booked the cruise we didn't think those two would be together in the same age group. LOL

BUT the way it was PREVIOUSLY your 8yr old and 12yr old would have been together quite often. Becuase last time we went my son was 8 and my eldest daughter was 12 and often they were doing things at the same time/same place even though they were in different age groups of the lab. But not now... now the 12yr olds are in OC.
Sorry! :(
