Mike - you have me listed 2x in this list and can you also change DH name back to Rich ;) . And our celebration is our anniversary 8/24 - if that is needed.

Thanks. I'll fix that right now. I figured with that much info, I was bound to make a mistake or two.

Are we the only ones on Deck 1? I feel so lonely now, lol.

I know at least one other person on the thread posted that they're on Deck 1, but they didn't sign up on the roster thread (not sure about FE exchange), so I won't add them to the roll call without their permission. Trust me, with this many pirates on board, you won't be lonely! :)

You're right- we do know our kids well don't we? LOL
My eldest was 12.5 on the last cruise and had a tee-total BLAST in the lab last time. She's a wee bit imature for her age though (and might I add- also ADHD so that's one reason she'd rather be on the go doing things rather than just "hanging out". yanno?)
when I'd told her it was 11-14 (cause I thought it was!) she was all excited about actually having activities, asking me if they'd still do things like they did last time even though they were located in the OC this time, etc. I haven't told her (yet) that I've since found out it's only up to age 13 because I didn't want to disappoint her and just see if they'd allow her to go in that age group.. and then if not, well..... we'd have no choice then would we? (but I have a feeling I'd end up with a "ruby" attached to my hip the entire cruise.... wanting to DO STUFF. LOL)

Again knowing my kids.. I highly doubt my youngest will find the club boring. She still acts like she's still 5 like the last cruise (complete with still wanting to dress up like a princess and say she's a princess, play with baby dolls, gets along well with younger kids, etc. That last part might be partly because she's little for her age and just navigates towards kids her SIZE which end up being younger than her? I dunno....
She gets along with kids exactly her age too but IDK about kids older than her. She started school very young -barely 5 for kindergarten and I thought she'd get experience with older kids considering my older two started school LATE since they have later birthdays and had to be 5 before starting school. So I thought she'd be in classes with some kids close to a year older than her- yanno? But nope.. last year she was in a class that was ALL kids that had barely turned 7 before they started that school year.. and she was STILL the shortest kid in class LOL)
And then we have the "brother" to deal with... I'm really not sure how well it would work out with those two in the same group! LOL They could surprise me and it might be okay- but it could be a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not sure the crew members are up to the task of trying to ignore these two arguing.... sometimes I find it hard to tune it out and I'm their mom! LOL)

Sounds like you have your answers. :thumbsup2 You know your kids best.

We were able to have our oldest move downward to be with his brother and sister. The counselors said he could try it, and as long as he wasn't disruptive they would let him stay. We had no problems.

I agree with others to let your kids know that you'll try, but can't guarantee the switch. Talk to the counselors when you get to the terminal. The one thing I can think of that may prevent them from allowing the switch is if they are completely full at a certain age level, and the switch would put them over the max. Otherwise, I think they'll be understanding and let you make the switch.

Thank you so much, I just ordered one for him. I really thought the 790 was a great value and would have been a great camera but you know 15 year olds, they know everything and since he was buying it himself there was no talking him out of it.

It would be great to see some of your underwater pics and compare them with DSs. Maybe an informal photo sharing day, we are bringing our laptop if you are interested.

Michelle

That would be great! One of the sea days between Aruba and CC.

Do you guys think I could get in on this too! I'd love to see how you color correct the underwater shots.

OMG how does anyone use vistaprint to get magnets made?
It's making me so frustrated..... Lisa worked on images for me and STILL I can't get them to work where the preview of it doesn't have part of the images cut off and/or doesn't have the image slighlty burry.
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

we used them for our magnets, the small car door magnets came out great.

Take the size of the magnet listed on the site and then match your pic to that size in PhotoShop. Make sure you turn you pic sideways to take up the full size of the magnet.

What wonderful memories but I understand that it will be difficult for you at times this cruise. Hopefully you will be able to overcome that and enjoy it while still remembering your mom since it is a longer cruise. :grouphug: She looks so cute/sweet dressed up for pirate night with all of you.
Thanks Lisa! I'm just very thankful she did go with us. We have lots of great memories, just like we will have good ones on this cruise!

From what I have gathered from other posts and the DCL rules 1 of them might have a chance and the other one is probably stuck....

The 14 yr old is probably the one stuck...I personally have never read or seen an Older child allowed to enroll in a younger area...However the 8 year old may have a chance I am not sure...If she is within a month of her birthday they may allow you to use the "1 month" rule that applys upward, to use downward...If not then I'm afraid she's going to have to move up also...

sorry....

I agree about moving your DD down. We had DS5 moved to the 3-4 group to be with our DD3 on the first cruise. He had just turned 5.

Really?
What I've read in the past seemed to suggest that it's harder (if not impossible- except sometimes when their birthday is very close) to move your child UP to an older age group than what they are in- but moving down isn't as big of an issue. (for instance I thought no way my son could move up to the next age group because he has 2mo till he turns 11, but thought I'd heard it's easier to move DOWN an age group to be with friends/etc.)
But you have heard it's the opposite? Interesting......

Okay but anyway, what are your THOUGHTS on it- let's say they would allow them to go the other age group....... do you think it's a good idea/bad idea for both/each?

The one month thing is just on paper. When DS was 8 and DD was 6 she was very clingy and the CM offered to move her to the 8-9 group so that she might be more willing to stay with her brother in the lab. I was surpised by the offer and if we had not been traveling with our friends who also had a 6 yo DD would have jumped at the chance.

The only group that is more strict is the Stack. Now of course with the new age groups this might involve the OQ group but it won't hurt to ask. The question you need to ask yourself is do you want your DS hanging out with 13 yos.

Kids take everything literally. My dd still does and she's 10. The other day she told me someone was teasing her about her name. I said that they were just trying to get her goat.

This was her answer," Mom, I don't have a goat. I wouldn't even know where to find a goat and there aren't any farms nearby. And why would she want my goat if I had one?" I thought I was going to drive into the curb. She had me laughing so hard! :lmao:

OMG, you better write that one down for prosperity.....

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Debi

I have one! This is one of our favorites...DD was very young and one night I told her we were going to grab dinner before getting groceries. Well, she LOVED Cracker Barrell, but DH and I were getting tired of that. I told her no, we were going to Olive Garden. On the verge of over dramamtic tears she cries "but I don't even like olives!!!!". I couldn't help but crack up - and she of course got mad!!!!! I had to explain that I was pretty sure they served more than olives!!! We still use it to pick on her!:)

good morning everyone.. Its a beautiful HOT STEAMY day here and I get to speand it at our NYS Fairgrounds for a larger national car show.. WAHOO!!! i can hardly wait...

Told husband to get everything ready while I am gone this AM.... lets see how much her can do!!:confused3

I just bought roles of magnet stripes for my door decorations. For one I have no clue how to make a pix with our names on them... and two.. cant find magnet paper besides from ebay..

Our last cruise we had a member named SHIRLEY on board and she made me the most beautiful pooh bear signs... and they were 3D as well... I wish she was coming along again...:worship:

Doreen:

are you working at Nationals or just taking it in? DH has wanted to go for years. I thought I might bring it up tomorrow - it is suppossed to be a little cooler!:)

I have a deck 2 connecting that I would love to not be connecting. Sarangel has the other connecting room. I cannot imagine it would work to switch rooms though. But, what is your room numbers? The only thing I am happy about w/ my room is that it is not below anything too noisy.

Well, if any of the three of you have a TA, that will have to be the person to contact DCL to see about this since they won't talk to the person with the resie. If you get all the resie numbers together, this shouldn't be a problem logistically. Of course, be sure you talk to a supervisor so the regular CS people don't mess it up. What a hoot if it can actually be done!

As much as my kids try to kill each other around me, they act great together when they aren't around us. Go figure! I have seen them holding hands and have their arm around the other's shoulder at school in the carpool line and all the teachers comment about how great it must be to have two kids so close. :scared:

Someone tiped me off about the *kids* forum they got going on there
but they are either 14 or turning 15 is there anyone on here that has a daughter or a son thats 16 or 17 or even 18 years old that i can start talking to someone close to my age and not so young

if so please get back to me

i dnt think my dad && mom wants to hang out with me for 15 days like the past 2 cruises on the 7 days i hung out with them and our friends all the time because there were no kids 16 or even 17 for that matter

so i hope to hear from someone soon

please and thank you!

DeeJay

btw if they got a mypsace or aim it could work either way because i got both

Turns out she has an outside room and I am in an inside. I still offered to switch but doubt I will be taken up on my offer. ;) :rotfl:

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Shelley, I just checked the larger previews in the cart and they look fine to me. ????? The image was cropped on the Mickey one because it just didn't fit right so I cropped it with not as much showing on the left. They aren't showing up blurry to me. :confused3

Chrissie, I imagine that the kids will really miss you. Some of the little things you shared about their days really made me smile. :flower3: Do you already have a new position somewhere ?
I have had 2 teaching jobs...1 I left and the other is giving me more money and hours....so all is good!

I have the Polynesian section from It's a Small World ;)
That's awesome! Hey btw I just noticed we are almost neighbors on board!

You will be able to see some of the fireworks from the Fantasmic area..however...if you watch the fireworks from the hub (the best place) it will be difficult to get to Fantasmic and find a place to sit and watch...just my opinion.

How early do we need to be in the hub to get a decent spot for the fireworks?

Well that is sure sweet of you!
And I have a lot more smiles than I have dollars. LOL
I hear that!

Do you think if I quote this it will go away now? I quoted it earlier today on another computer and now it's following me!!!! AHHHHHH!!! Chrissie - stop stalking my posts. :lmao:
Look behind you!!!:lmao:

Have we "pirated" deck 6? hehe

Yes we have!
Chrissie,
if you have a few minutes, look for a book titeled "Who Moved My Cheese" . I was out with a on-duty spinal injury that almost cost me my abilty to walk, and I was more conerned about not being able to go back to work. I know my priorities were a little twisted. But, with a lot of PT and the huge support of my DW, I was able to make it back to work full-duty.
But I learned a very valuable lesson. actually 2 lessons. Family First, no matter what, and Work to live, Not Live to Work
best wishes,

Thanks you. I came to those realizations..and that is why the decision was made....Plus everyone knows (at work) I work to fill up time until my next vacation!:lmao:

Got our flight info last night. I think we're leaving at 1:45p out of Orlando. Not sure what time we get back home, but definitely enough time to do laundry before work the next day! WOOO HOOOOO!!!!! We can finally fill out all of our Online Check-in paperwork. YAY!! This is starting to feel real!!! Only 29 more days until the wedding and 30 until the TOAL! :
Too bad your not excited!:rotfl2:

Chrissie

OK the most disturbing thing is happening to me.
I work from home and keep the tv on as background noise but it is behind my computer armoire so I cannot see it. I was working yesterday and heard an ad that started with "I am Bryant Herzog..." I about flipped out of my chair. This is the Dr. that I feel was extremely incompetent with my oldest DD birth. Did not hospitalize me when I was 20 weeks pregnant, dialated to a 2 and 50% effaced in active labor-and we were down the hall from the OB ward IN A HOSPITAL!!
Apparantly the med spa biz is better than being a OB (especially if you stink at it). It just brings up so many painful scary emotions. If it was on the same time I would just turn in the radio.
Hopefully he won't get any business and will not be able to afford the ads for very long.
