I finished assembling my adult FE gifts. Feels good to have that done. Still trying to work out the kid part.

Megan finally tried on her dress for formal night and it feels tight to her (it looks fine). We went to Kohls tonight and she found another really cute one but I was too cheap to buy it. I have a coupon here that I forgot to bring so I'll go back for it since she really likes it.

Daniel tried on his suit and khakis and I think we can get away with them. Just need dress shoes which I'm not finding. I'm going to put a shout out to my friends with boys to see if we can borrow a pair.

Jen: Daniel had that same shirt and matched Jim. Our first cruise with the kids we did the whole matching shirt/dress for Tropical night.

Whose looked over the new menu,s?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2214851

What do you think? what do you want to try or have? What do you want to avoid.

To me I have to go through a bit of 'deduction'. I am allergic to all seafood, fish etc, basically anything that lives and comes out of water. So I drop that off and thats often 50% of the menu, There seems to be a lot of mushrooms on the new menu, DW will like that but I am not a great fan, I will have them in pizza or on Steak if they are small, but I do not like to see a mushroom as such. -There's lots there.

I am a meat eater so like Steak, ribs, chicken, duck, but also like a curry, they have fixed these up for me on ship when its been 'off menu''.

I like Fajitas but in Lumière's at lunch they put bits of fish in it last time, i ordered it not looking, and the server came back and said you are going against your allergy, on the system, he wasn't my normal server but had checked so that was good.

Buffets late at night can be difficult if its not labelled then I just play safe.I have seen Tuna that looks like Chicken for example.

Andrew I'm not allergic to seafood, but I don't eat ANY either, so that knocks some of the items off the menu. And I don't care for mushrooms, but I have gotten good at picking them out of dishes. I am a picky eater, but I'm sure I won't starve!:laughing:

The Fedex man came to see me Fri......but all I got was my free paint!:thumbsup2 Thanks, for that info Kristin. I didn't know what color to get, so I got a shade of white to use on some of the trim in my house. I know everyone that got their docs said UPS brought them, maybe they will come soon.

Jen--I like that shirt. I was going to order that set, but I don't know if the boys want to match!

We're now DVC owners too! :cool1: Actually, my parents bought a bunch of points since they snowbird in FL and added me on as a joint owner!! WOOOHOOO. So if there is a year that they don't use all their points...another vacation for us! But since they love WDW as much as we do, that might not always happen (actualy, might not ever happen! LOL). That's fine. I am really happy that they finally did this. They bought at SSR. Even if we don't use the points, are there any things about DVC that we should know? I am slowly navigating through the DIS DVC thread but it is really slow going. (and my computer is doing weird things, jumping between posts - my first post to you just totally disappeared sp I am retyping it here...:confused3). Anyway, are there any DVC perks that we can now take advantage of??

Jen, we live less than 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs, New York - kind of strange to think that Disney used the area for a themed hotel. To us, it's just another town!! LOL.

No cruise documents here either...still working on my FEs...

Night all!
Jude :flower3:

Well I do eat some shellfish but I really really dislike mushrooms so I am in total agreement that too many dishes have mushrooms! I am sure I will not starve though! Today is my last day at school on my contracted hours but I am doing a days supply teaching tomorrow and then I am done for the summer! Woo hoo! DH finishes on Friday as well. It is an early break up for us in the UK this year, usually there would be one more week left.

Have a great week

Night all!
Jude :flower3:

Jude,

Congrats, we love our DVC - Most of our points are at the Beach Club, and we also have some at SSR(have not sayed there). Our favorite perk is the Annual Pass Discount. When we go to Disney we usually schedule two trips in a 12 month period. One at the beginning of the 12mos and one at the end. The only draw back, we find ourselves sometimes watching for cheap airfair and flying down for a weekend. We also have been lucky enough to use some of our points for family gatherings...right now we are hoping to bank a year, and borrow a year to go to Ireland with Disney Adventure.

DD is back from overnight camp :cool1::banana:

She had a GREAT time and can't wait to go back next year.:woohoo:

So now I can finally start working on the cruise, this is the latest I have ever started planning:scared1:.

If any of you have children that will be in the 8-10 year old group in the clubs and would like your child to have a penpal before the cruise, send me a pm. My DD (10) is looking to make some friends before the cruise she can pal around with. I will also use the "kids connect" list from Jen's website.

Jude, tell Tess Amanda will probably send her an email this week.

We went to Ireland and loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My parents did an Adventures By Disney Trip last year and said it was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got really excited Saturday....the fed ex guy stopped, got out of his truck (I'm looking out the window like the village idiot -- complete with hip shaking dance moves:yay:) and he goes across the street to another house!!!! Nope, no docs yet.

We're still working on our FE gifts. This is the first time we've done them and I've learned that I'm not so crafty. :)

Hope everybody has a great day!!
Ginny

Hope everyone is having a GREAT MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am off to pick up one the girl's friends for a swimming playdate and she will stay for dinner....Make your MONDAY MAGICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, on the fish shellfish most of the time I can avoid it, buffets, particularly deck buffets can be an issue.

Lets all please put on the feedback forms too much mushrooms! Hope there is space on the survey, sometimes there;s not mushroom, sorry had to do it:laughing:

Tried it but did not seem to recognise my DCL reservation number ?:confused:confused3

Now remember 1/ they are all going out different times, from the people who have posted on this thread they have theirs, its 'really' early usually is about 2>3 weeks before and 2/ remember some people are reporting their GTY is not assigned which is normally 35 days out, IE now.

Mine came up on UPS, the day I received them last year, but many people swore by it.

A couple of thnigs of interest...

Guests who are staying at any of the Walt Disney World® properties serviced by Disney Cruise Line and are driving to Port Canaveral can purchase an option to have their luggage delivered to their stateroom on embarkation day.

The cost of the luggage delivery option is $25.00 for up to 6 bags.If the guests have more than 6 bags, an additional charge of $3.00 is
charged per bag.
Guests can purchase this option by speaking with a Disney Cruise Line representative at the resort. The charge appears on the guest's
shipboard folio.

And I have asked DCL re receipt of Tickets etc....

You should be getting your travel documents in the next week or so, we mail out about 3 weeks pre cruise.

Entertainment schdule for our cruise is not set at this time....

OK over planning mode here, but has anyone thought about alternative ports?

We are travelling in peak hurricane season, and so there is an increased chance of being diverted for safety reasons to alternative ports in the advent of an hurricane in the Eastern itinerary way.

Whilst overall the occurrences are very low, in 2005 we sailed through the back end of a hurricane in Mexico, and last year, we diverted course a bit for our last two days due to a hurricane just passing through the Caribbean.

Now I presume if we changed route the most likely thing would be swapping to a Western route, with Cayman and Cozumel, but there is the chance of Nassau.

Anyone have contingency plans on what you would do there if we had to change route?

I'm trying to remain optimistic that our route will remain as is and any hurricanes will stay away for the week. I made the mistake of voicing this same concern out loud in front of the kids and now they are paranoid about water getting in our room since we're on deck 1.:confused3

I did purchase the Passporter just in case. If we went to Cozumel instead I would love to try ziplining, but our friends would NOT be interested in joining us for that. They are more beach people. The biggest disappointment for us if we had a new route would be losing the charter catamaran snorkeling in Tortola. I was going to start reading trip reports and making notes "just in case". I would hope to avoid Costa Maya-we did that in November 2005 and hated it. I'd probably stay on the boat at that point.

If it were Nassau...we've been going to Atlantis every Febrauary for the past 4 years so we wouldn't head there. I read one report where the family went to Cable Beach which seemed like an option. They also have a Segway tour there that I wouldn't mind taking, but the kids wouldn't be able to participate.

Fingers crossed for smooth seas.

My only planning in case of hurricane involved getting travel insurance.

it would be disappointing to miss BVI or castaway cay. We missed the second castaway cay stop on the special 5-night magic cruise on 9/1/2009, and just sat out at sea somewhere off of miami. the only other time we were affected by weather was that same 2005 PC eastbound. I suppose we have been pretty lucky compared to other reports I read on the dis.

Jen: Daniel had that same shirt and matched Jim. Our first cruise with the kids we did the whole matching shirt/dress for Tropical night.

We are going to miss the outfit! It was really fun having everyone match...the good news is that I have found 2 other matching outfits!!! :goodvibes

I got my free paint too. It was a good find. Glad, that you got yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't gotten my paint yet! :sad2: I hope it comes soon because I would LOVE to paint the dresser in my entry!

Yea Mel! I bet you feel good being done with your teaching - great that you will be able to enjoy the summer now!!! :thumbsup2

I hate to even think that we could possibly have bad weather!!!:scared1: We are just going to think HAPPY THOUGHTS and know that we are going to do everything we planned. :goodvibes

Finally took a few moments to go through all the menus...sounds like many of us are in agreement...way too many mushrooms! I also think there is even a bit too much seafood. While I do like a bit of seafood, I think that there are too many there. Keeping in mind that many people cannot eat seafood, I would have liked to have seen a good steak dinner here and there.

I know we will not go hungry but right now I don't feel like there are LOTS of things that stand out to me. There are things here and there that look good but few that look great to me.

This is exactly waht happend to us on our August 2006 cruise, we were supposed to be on a Western Carribean cruise, but Hurricane Ernesto was headed to all the same islands about a day or two before we where so our cruise changed to an Eastern and we have done that itinerary ever since. While it is a bummer when it happens it really isn't the worst thing. You still have a great cruise, your ports of calls are just different. I would say the worst part were the lines for the shore excursion desk as soon as you boarded. You literally had an entire ship trying to rebook shores excursions all at the same time. Disney did however do a great job by having the shore excursion sheets all printed out and then they handed them out to everyone in line. So there was no need to figure out what you wanted to do before you got into line.
