Kathy,
it is good to know your DS' arm is healing. I am going to sound super daft here but what is the reasoning behind no sand? Is it as Kristen says in case he slops on the sand? If so surely sitting near you guys just building a sand castle is ok??? I don't have much experience of kids with broken limbs and also going to the beach is not something we do here regularly as it is usually too cold so forgive me if there is some other blindingly obvious reason!

Mel, you reminded me of a long lost incident on the Disney Magic.
This also could be a word of slight warning for you with young kids at the Mickey Pool.
When my son was a lot younger, on his first
Disney cruise, we had a great time, it was a 7 night Western and all had gone well he was 3>4 years old.
The cruise had gone well, and I think it was the Thursday the day before
castaway cay. Stephen was in the Mickey pool, and he start playing with the drain covers, we were keeping an eye on him but didn't think two much of it, they are like upturned shower heads in the pool.
Well he was able to push a finger in a hole in the drain, it got caught and as he tried to pull it out the skin ripped and he had a long cut along the finger. For once the lifeguards were not to helpful, the CM at the slide wasn't too interested thinking it was a minor cut, but another came along looked at it and took us to the Medical centre. The gash was deep and, whilst not needing stitches, they put that sticky tape stuff on it to keep it closed.
We were told to keep it clean, CC was the next day, we thought it would cause issues there but the Doctor said the seawater would actually help, the salt is good to clean it.
Anyway we reported it to guest services to say is there an issue for other kids.
Whilst they were very sympathetic there and then, over the the next 24 hours nothing happened, he was in pain with it throbbing, we took it back to the medical centre who looked at it after CC and said that was a good sign, but it had inflamed a little.
We had seen the Mickey pool open no report back from engineers, so asked Guest services what they had done, there they didn't know anything, we went to our room, and then about 10 Min's later an engineer and a CM came to discuss.
The Engineer brought a fozzey bear from the Muppet show for Stephen. Very nice.
They told us they had looked at it, but the ship 'flex's in the water, otherwise it would snap, and this stops a lot of motion, and whilst this incident had occurred there wasn't anything they could really do it was one of those things, the engineer said he had re-looked at it, again just now, felt it was safe, but they would consider if there was anything else they could do to stop recurrence.
Fozzey became Stephens best Friend and now travels on all USA and
DCL cruises with him, albeit getting rather worn now.
