plannning mode continues, Motel reservations are made for the trip south and good news I was able to use my Starwood points to cover the nights

Next up planning the route how, I might have to spend $15.oo for another fre night . Fair trade. :rotfl2:, If I can do this right That all I may need to play for rooms for the road trip portion,

You have worked your trip so well using your points for the stays on the journey. That is properly making use of all the loyalty schemes :)

Jen don't worry, its slow on my system, I have a ADSL braodband but not too happy with the provider and might switch to Fibre cable rather than copper cable to speed it up, most sites load quickly, but the Cruise one is slow.

I looked at it today to update my memory for everyones photos, hopefully to recognise people as soon as I see them, I have to do this a few times, on the last Panama repo, loads of people knew me, but as there was so many, I couldn't remember everyone back so slightly embarrassing.

My PC doesnt help whilst its a new one and overall very good, if the site loads slowly, it can 'freeze' then needs a reboot.

LOL - I know what you mean about it being embarressing when people recognise you but you have no idea who they are. I am not great with faces so I hope any of you will forgive me and put me out of my misery by reminding me which Disser you are!

No you don't sound daft at all. I understood the no swimming in the ocean. There were some reports of kids getting into algae at the Dolphin Encounter and of "sea lice" both of which caused skin irritations. This would be hard to treat if the irritation was under the cast. MD feels that the sand itself and any contaminants in the sand could also get under the cast, making DS uncomfortable at a minimum. I asked if buying one of the commercially available cast covers would be enough to keep out the sand so he could play but even with that MD said NO beach! Maybe I just need to find a less strict orthopedist!

Oh, that is such a shame but I guess it would be itchy and unpleasant if he got sand under the cast. I really hope you guys come up with something good to do on Castaway Cay. I have read reports about the treasure hunt and it sounded a good bet - and if there was any sand digging perhaps you and your DH could do that bit - it sounds like it is something you could do as a group.

Anyone else get their documents yet??

Nope - unsurprisingly!

Hi Jen,

How is your weekend so far??

The first cruise we got our docs. late but I blame it on the TA that we used. Never will use them again.......

The second cruise we got them fast not one of the first ones our friends in Canada were actually the first ones and we were shortly after that..

This cruise they came really fast. I really think our TA throws some MAGIC our way!!:wizard::wizard: It was a nice surprise yesterday though...After a long few days of a sick child, and a husband away in Texas. Then last night as we were about to leave to go out the UPS man stopped us. It was soo nice. We are all soo tired today from the late night last night and Bruce got up yesterday morning at 3:00 to catch a 4:30 am flight home and then took all of us to the carnival/fireworks. He is sooo tired today too!!!!!

Hey Kristin,

It has been a bit of a rocky start - but tonight will just be a quiet night which will be nice. We are going to have a nice grilled dinner and probably go through the Dairy Queen drive through for dessert a bit later if everyone is up for it.

It is always fun to get the documents. We got our confirmation paperwork for SSR yesterday...it was a nice surprise! We will be watching for the UPS man now! :goodvibes

I am really hoping to hear soon that we have been assigned a stateroom number though!!!!! We are anxious about it...partly because I want to finish the final copy of the FE list and my room numbers is one of the empty one!!!

Tell Bruce to go to bed early and I hope that your family can have a nice relaxing evening!!!

WDW Question -

Has anyone here every eaten the breakfast buffet at Cape May? I can't find much information about it. Would love to hear about anyone's experience there!

Hope everything is ok since you said it was a rocky start?? Call me if you need or want to chat.....

We ate at Cape May breakfast on Easter Morning on our April trip. The kids loved it GREAT food..........

If your staying at SSR before the cruise be sure to request a specific building number. I would ask for building 8500 in the GrandStand section since then you will near the food, and the first bus-stop to pick up and the first to get dropped off...This is our favorite place to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear your kids loved Cape May and that you thought it had great food! The kids were allowed to pick ONE place to eat before our package starts and that is what we picked.

We will be at SSR for just 2 nights. We had to fly in 2 days before our package started (due to using FF points). So, we rented SSR points for a really good price and will hang out there for 2 days. We will not have park tickets or our dining plan. We are planning on using the time to swim, relax, visit DTD, maybe tour DVC and just enjoy the days! Right now we requested to be in the Springs area...do we want to change that?

We did it in 2007 love it, it is less rushed than Chef Mickeys, Goofy is the main character Minnie, chip and dale showed up in beach garb

Jen,

You will love hanging out at SSR. You can walk on over to DTD, or take the boat over to Old Key West to check it out Olivia's Cafe over there is GREAT for dinner and the pool is FUN there too. You could also go to Port Orleans on the boat too.

Are you thinking of purchasing DVC? Great deals right now. Let me know if you want me to tell you what they are right now........ You will also be able to see the new tree house villas too......

SSR is soo relaxing and you will love how relaxed it is. The Springs is nice to but it is the last bus stop if you decide to go anywhere..even if it is not a park so sometimes especially during the summer during higher peak times you could have to stand. At the GrandStand there is also a quite pool with a waterplay area which big kids, and adults alike like......So you may want to stay there so you can have that pool to use to if the Main Pool gets crowded. At the Main Pool everyday they have Pool Side Games, and Trivia so check the Guide that they give you when you check in and at night they have pool-side movies on a HUGE Movie Screen tooo....So fun....There is also an arcade, and they have crafts in the Community Hall everyday, and fun classes for adults, and bikes to rent to ride around the Resort, and they also have the Spa......and Gym there too!!!!So much to do just at the Resort alone.....

Did you also know you can sign up at Staples.com for their teacher rewards card and have water shipped for free to WDW...That is what we do tooo...

Thanks Ed! Really nice to hear that a couple of families loved it! We really like Chef Mickey's but we decided to try something new. We were thinking this might be a little more relaxed (and it was a few $$ cheaper per person).

Thanks for all the information about SSR! it sounds like there will be more than enough for us to do the 2 days we are there.

I would love to one day buy DVC but it will be several years before we could even consider it (especially since I don't have a job right now!!!). There are also so many places that I would love to visit (although it is hard to give up Disney)!

We are trying to figure out about food/water for the 2 days. Our goal is to spend as little money as possible before our package (with Dining) begins. We will only have a studio so without a stove/oven, I think we will just rely on food courts (except for Cape May). It might be good to have some water delivered though. Thanks for letting me know about that!

You could always order groceries, like cereal, etc. from www.gardengrocer.com it is soo easy and you could get a few things so that you could make sandwiches for lunch, etc...and save some money!!!!!!

Hey Andrew,

Thanks, for posting the link for the new menus. Looked at them before but it was nice to have them again to look at. My husband is HIGHLY allergic to shellfish so it limits him a bit too...But he has yet to go hungry.......LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds similar to me, but mines everything out of water, the sea or rivers, so shellfish fish etc. The menu's have some good things on them, but too much mushrooms with everything IMHO.
Anyone else get their documents yet??
Not yet,

Being over here its a mixed bunch, I know in the Past DCL has sent them early, but our UPS is limited, so then its sat in their office, say like a weekend they will not deliver, not bothered really as its a long time till we go this cruise, in the past when the cruise was at the end of the holiday, it was more of a worry.

Over the years and cruises I have had soooo many people come up and say hi Andrew, and some I know and some I have had to try a sneak peak at lanyards etc to work out who they are;) Funny thing in 2008, at Disneyland California, for the 4 days pre Eastbound Panama cruise, there was another man in the parks who looked like me, Everyone was asking him are you Andrew Derek form the UK!

Some said as they approached him, he got so fed up, -as they went towards him he would shout, 'no I am not Andrew from the UK!'.

Quite a few people then met me in the park and told me about him, and then I bumped into him near the end, and he approached me and told me about it.:lmao:

Whose looked over the new menu,s?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2214851

What do you think? what do you want to try or have? What do you want to avoid.

To me I have to go through a bit of 'deduction'. I am allergic to all seafood, fish etc, basically anything that lives and comes out of water.

So I drop that off and thats often 50% of the menu, There seems to be a lot of mushrooms on the new menu, DW will like that but I am not a great fan, I will have them in pizza or on Steak if they are small, but I do not like to see a mushroom as such. -There's lots there.

I am a meat eater so like Steak, ribs, chicken, duck, but also like a curry, they have fixed these up for me on ship when its been 'off menu''.

I like Fajitas but in Lumière's at lunch they put bits of fish in it last time, i ordered it not looking, and the server came back and said you are going against your allergy, on the system, he wasn't my normal server but had checked so that was good.

Buffets late at night can be difficult if its not labelled then I just play safe.I have seen Tuna that looks like Chicken for example.

Andrew,

We can easly forgot how hard it is for people who have food allergy's...

After looking at the menu, Steak, Seabass, Chicken or ribs - I might try duck, that is something that I have not done in the past not sure why...

Yes, there is still a lot to eat on the ship, we are not gonig to starve :lmao:, but we all must take care not to eat the forbidden food!!!

If YOU ORDERED LANYARDS...

If you ordered lanyards and have not read my PM to you about how to pick up your lanyards...

Please READ your PM and try to REPLY to me.

I am trying to figure out how to pack a box to send to the ship. I don't want to pack lanyards that people want to pick up before we board but if I don't hear from you soon, yours might end up in my box.

Thanks everyone!

We're now DVC owners too! :cool1: Actually, my parents bought a bunch of points since they snowbird in FL and added me on as a joint owner!! WOOOHOOO. So if there is a year that they don't use all their points...another vacation for us! But since they love WDW as much as we do, that might not always happen (actualy, might not ever happen! LOL). That's fine. I am really happy that they finally did this. They bought at SSR. Even if we don't use the points, are there any things about DVC that we should know? I am slowly navigating through the DIS DVC thread but it is really slow going. (and my computer is doing weird things, jumping between posts - my first post to you just totally disappeared sp I am retyping it here...:confused3). Anyway, are there any DVC perks that we can now take advantage of??

Jen, we live less than 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs, New York - kind of strange to think that Disney used the area for a themed hotel. To us, it's just another town!! LOL.

No cruise documents here either...still working on my FEs...

Night all!
Jude :flower3:
