8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

We always use Super Shuttle and have never had a problem from any of the airports or hotels. They are always right there waiting for you, they know the "streets" in case they need to take back roads and the price is VERY resonable. You can book online at www.supershuttle.com or call them. I have them booked on the 10th and the 17th already!

Hi all...Just getting a chance to check in today...Hope everyone had a good one....Another day closer!!

I am still trying to decide on transportation from the airport to the hotel, does anyone have any suggestions on someone they have used at LAX in the past? Since I will be arriving at night I want to be sure I have someone there for us.

hi, i can't believe it's less than a month now! wanted to ask what the men will be wearing on formal/semi-formal nights? my husband, the reluctant cruiser, has a tux (i'm guess i should be glad that it still fits from our wedding 15 yrs ago) and likes to wear it but does not want to be the only one. is anyone else planning on wearing a tux?

also, i live within driving distance of the port, probably less than one hour away with no to little traffic on a Sunday morning. but i booked a hotel (crowne plaza in san pedro) just in case. my fear was that my family always leaves later than we plan to and i can picture myself being a wreck on the drive down if we are late (i'm sure my husband would want to avoid this too!) the cost is $215.46 for room, fees/tax, parking while at the port, 2 drinks, 2 breakfasts (my DD10 eats free), and shuttle to the port. Sounds great right but ... on other threads, i've read 1) that in LA, people get to the port really early and 2) that the shuttles don't leave until 10 am. does anyone have any experience with this?

your help is appreciated, i'm looking forward to meeting you all on board!

No tux here either! Hubbie will probably take one suit... and dress it up a bit for formal night. He'll wear the same one for semi-formal night with a less dressy lookin' shirt and tie.

And no formal dresses for me... I have already worn a very dressy shirt with some black slacks and some heels and called myself formal! And with the airlines charging more for extra bags... we will be limiting our wardrobes and re-using many pieces for some mix and match outfits.:)

We are using Luken Limos ... I think Jeff recommended them originally. They seem very nice an extra accomodating!

Nope not me. But I did check them out! We are actually going to just take a cab from SNA to Disneyland (the GCH) then Disney Cruise Line Transportation to the port. Then I have a rental car at Long Beach Airport to pick up after the cruise. Figure we'll just pile into a cab at the port and go pick up the car.

:dancer: No tux for hubby or kids on this end either Hubby wore his suit and tie last time and then for semi-formal night he wore suit without jacket. I wore a dressy shirt, slacks and flat dress shoes (I don't do heels I shattered my knee and heels don't agree with that :) ) We will do the same this time. My daughter will be wearing a formal (an old homcoming dress) She likes to dress up. Foster son will be wearing suit pants, dress shirt and tie. Toddler son will have the same.

Hi!

Any of you daring to do Stone Island on your own in Mazatlan?

We are considering it. It sounds adventurous!

I can't believe we are getting so close!

Hi!

Dear Andria,

We are doing Stone Island on our own. Although this was our original final plan, I am moving towards "staying on the ship" day after reading the thread posted by the guy who just came back from the trip.

Our kids cannot do "hot & humid". That is the only reason we never visit Japan during summer :confused3 . They could do "hot", but not if "humid" come with it. They probably rather play in the Mickey pool. We will see.

No formal dresses for me...Bringing lots of dresses but not any long formals...dresses, black pants, dressy capris...etc.... Hope that is good! I agree with the luggage situation it is hard to decide what to take. We are going to be gone 11 days and I normally take a bunch of stuff on short trips cant imagine how I am going to get everything I need for this one there, plus all the stuff we buy and have to bring back home.

My DH will not be wearing a tux, or even a suit. He doesn't own either and I just can't justify spending the money to rent or buy for he and the boys for just one night. I am planning for all three to wear shirts and ties. (Note to self, go shopping to buy shirts and ties.:rotfl:) I ordered a cocktail dress today, if I like it in person, I will wear that. Otherwise, I'll wear something from my closet. We'll be dressed in our Sunday best, but not formal.

One DISer asked me, in person, how I can afford all those stuff for FE. I told him what I have SO FAR.

7)homemade(?) Mexican cruise magnet
8)bouncy balls from Target

11)marbles

If any of you want to opt out from my STUFF, let me have your cabin #! , I won't bother you.

Morning everyone!

We're at the business end of our countdown now and I'm happy to report that it all feels under control. Everything seems to be booked and I'm just sitting here hoping I feel better soon... ;)

Not yet! Michelle - I can't remember. Will you be at Disneyland before the cruise? Lizzie suggested we meet up if you are (she's very anxious to meet Samantha!) :goodvibes

Hi Jeff,

I wish we were but Sam is going to be at overnight camp that week. We will be going to DL & CA after the cruise. Samantha is so excited to get to meet Lizzie! She has already asked if we get to sit with her at dinner and has picked out special FE gifts with her in mind!

I've officially started packing!:yay: :yay: OK, it was only cotton balls and q-tips but it is a start!

No, I did not say that, but gave him the list. I though you might wanted take a look also.

I think that it is terrible how there is always some one out there who wants to ruin other people's fun!:sad2:  My kids and I are having the best time organizing and making our FE gifts. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of party poopers out there who just don't want to have any fun!

How sweet. They sound like two of a kind! Well, we may be coming up to Disneyland for a day after the cruise. We are staying at the St. Regis in Dana Point for five nights post-cruise and while we aren't planning it officially, I will find it hard to be that close and not go for just "one more visit" - So if they do get along great and want to see each other again, we can always hook up then!

Are you early or late dining? We are early (time change and all we thought it best). At least if we are in the same general rotation, they can hang together after dinner !

Indeed. We haven't gotten out to buy a lot of stuff yet, but I have picked up a few things. I want to get the kids a chance to do some shopping too so off to the dollar store we will go!

Too bad! My kids are still so little, they don't complain about being hot yet. As long as they are busy, they go with the flow for the most part. Actually, the truth is, if we are doing something that they like, they go with the flow!;)
They have already been in humid when we visit my in-laws in Boston in the summer! They were really good!

Formalness:I will wear a cocktail dress on both nights. My DH will wear a suit both nights. DS will wear a tux on formal and a suit on semi-formal night. DD is wearing a very formal dress on formal night and a dressy dress on semi-formal night. I know I am weird, but I actually look forward to dressing up! We don't get dressed up often so this is actually fun to us.:lovestruc
We will also be wearing some pirate stuff on pirate night!pirate:

What kind of pirate stuff is everyone wearing? We could go all out (we have pirate: costumes), but can't decide.

Andria, it's nice to see someone else who looks forward to dressing up. We don't do that much these days, either, so it's a nice change. I guess if I wear my gown (which is really plain other than being long), at least I'll fit in with the under-18 crowd's attire! My formal packs so small that it takes very little luggage space, so if I chicken out I can always wear a cocktail dress.

Dear Michelle,

Did I say something wrong? What I wanted to say was,
I am bringing all these on the list, so if there are some one who does not want to have these thing that I am bringing, just let me know and I would not bother you.

I am so sorry if it offended you in anyway.

Ayumi :guilty:
