7 night Mexican Riviera - *GT rates common? How does it sell?

For those of you familiar with DCL's annual or semi annual 7 nighters on the Wonder to the Mexican Riviera: Do these cruises typically sell well? Or do *GT rates ever come into play? I am watching the sailing for April 2026 - I can probably only afford to do it if it gets discounted and so I'm wondering if that happens very often? I know it would happen much closer to the sail date if it does happen. Thanks in advance.

They are offering an OGT rate this year of $3512 for 2 ppl. Opening day price was $4151 for the lowest oceanview room.

I've always gotten them out of San Diego. How is it priced? Sometimes it's the obviously over priced cruises that get the best discounted rates. If it's actually reasonable then it may sell better.

- the cruises are selling a lot better than in previous years. Two years ago, all the sailings form Dan Diego were eligible for a ton of promos. For this cruise, a family of four could travel for just over $2500 during the Disney+ promo. Such oromos dwindled last year but most sailings had military rates. This year, none do.

- next year, this will be the only weeklong cruise from SD. This and past years, there have been two. That may increase the demand.

Extremely helpful - thank you so much! In this case since we are cruising next month I might just get a placeholder and go for it. In the past for the cruises we take the *GT rates have generally been better than the placeholder deals - esp since we rarely book on opening day. We don't really care where our stateroom is and we've always gone on typical itineraries so VGT has worked great for us in the past.

What do you mean by “reasonably priced?” It’s one of the lowest priced 7-night cruises. Prices on DCL don’t drop, although they may add promotional rates - most commonly “guarantee” and military rates. And other promo rates have become extremely rare in the past 10-15 years, sans the COVID start-up.

That said, if we enter a recession we could see more DCL promotions. But they may not apply to you - for example, if you don’t have younger children, the Disney+ promo wouldn’t have saved you any money.

Now, that said, I live in the Los Angeles area. Carnival, Princess, Royal and Norwegian do the same route (well, they retain Mazalan which Disney dropped for Ensenada) but a family of four can often find staterooms for under $2K vs $5K on DCL. I don’t think DCL’s product is worth that premium, especially the Wonder (not even a slide).
You may feel differently, of course!
