7 Magical Days of Disney Dining

The food reviews are great - but you can post more pictures of Brenden with his shirt off anytime you want!!!:lovestruc  :cloud9: :flower3:

(Don't worry - I'm old, married & fat - but it can't hurt to look, right? :lmao:

HAHAHAHAHA :rotfl: You guys are so funny!! I will def throw more ab pics up there for ya! Brendan would absolutely kill me if I knew I put that one up there! He's too much of a cutey...I couldn't resist lol Sorry I couldn't get any more reviews up tonight. It's been a crazy few days back at work. I will try to get one up tomorrow before heading in!

Hi Everyone!!! These reviews might take a little bit longer than expected. I'm the owner of a dance studio here in Boston and our big end of the year recital is this weekend so work is going to be a bit crazy this week, but I will try to chip away bit by bit! Next up is Tusker House Breakfast at the Animal Kingdom and Chefs de France Lunch at Epcot!!! :)

Sounds like you have your priorities confused!!! :rotfl2:

Thanks so much! Goodluck with your recital too!!! I've made like a million lists of things I have to remember to bring and buy and do before dress rehearsal tomorrow!

Hi Everyone,

It has been a crazy week! Our dress rehearsal was tonight and it went so well! But on with the reviews!

Jiko Dinner - Animal Kingdom Lodge
Jiko is one of our favorite restaurants in Disney World! It's a little bit pricier and a fancier restaurant, but it's always really quiet and the service is always AMAZING!!! There is also a business casual dress code. I know a few people have posted on the Dis about this not being enforced, but it was the night we were there. Brendan forgot to take his hat off and the hostess asked him to take it off before we sat down lol He worried about his hair a lot after that! What a chick lol Anyways....We had dinner at 6:00 and checked in at 5:45. We were seated within 5 minutes. It was a little busy in the lobby, but most of the people waiting were for Boma next door. Our waitress was sooooooo nice. She was great and very attentive and accomodating. We split the Barbeque Chicken Flatbread which I thought might have been a little weird. I'm not big on BBQ sauce on pizza and the the apple juliene sounded weird, but it was UNBELIEVABLE!! It was so good and I thought much better than the olive flatbread. After the flatbread the waitress brought out an assorment of african breads and butter which was yummy. Brendan and I both ordered the filet with Macaroni and Cheese which is also really really good. I personally think the steak is far better here than at Le Cellier which is usually the top spot for a good filet in disney for most vacationers. Just like last trip, Jiko was great! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice quiet dinner next trip!

Will We Return? We are going again in December!

Boma Dinner - Animal Kingdom Lodge
We had Boma at AKL the night after Jiko. We tried this three trips ago when I was a less adventurous eater and decided to give it another go! This is probably one of the most impressive buffets in terms of what they offer. Usually the buffet is repeated on the other side, but at Boma they offer different things the whole way through! Although we were a bit overwhelmed and didn't know what to eat!!! lol I had the prime rib (which was amazing), the chicken, potato soup (very good), hummas with pitas, pasta salad (a little to spicy for me), Mac and Cheese (basic), and of course desserts (zebra domes (YUM), chocolate mouse, and bread pudding yet again! I'm not sure what Brendan had, but I knew he was stuffed and happy when we left! This is a great restaurant and prob one of the best buffets that we had all trip in terms of selection, variety, and quality of food.

Ok Off to bed I go! I'll be back sometime this weekend with Chef Mickey's Breakfast and O'hana (with my reviews on the new menu!)

Hi Everyone! I almost forgot about Cape May Cafe! So Instead of CM and O'hana this review, you are going to get Cape May Cafe and O'hana!

First up is......

Cape May Cafe Breakfast - Beach Club Resort
We didn't have a reservation for Cape May and actually went on a whim! We were at Epcot and around 10:00 decided to head over to Downtown Disney and figured we'd catch the bus at the Beach Club. We were really hungry and thought to maybe checkout Cape May to see if it was busy. We walked up the podium and they told us we would be seated in around 15 minutes. We were legite seated 45 seconds later if that lol WOOHOO :woohoo: The restaurant was really pretty. Very beachy looking and I really liked how the decorated the walls with croquet sticks and balls and other neat things. This is a character buffet and while we were there we met with Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto (all in their beach attire!) Chip and Dale were also supposed to be there but we didn't even see them walking around the restaurant. We eat pretty fast....but not that fast lol  I think the buffet was a bit smaller and had less choices than at CP, but it was still very good. I had some breakfast pizza, bread pudding with vanilla sauce (which was sooo yummy), fruit (cantaloup, honeydew melon, and watermelon), scrambled eggs, and asparagus. Brendan stuck with egg whites and breakfast pizza. They had a lot of other offerings such as Mickey Waffles, muffins and bagels, and other whole fruits. They also had cereal and oatmeal. There was a yogurt bar as well but it's kind of far away from the main buffet near the entrance and we didn't even realize it was there until we were leaving. Our waitress was so sweet too. She reminded me of my Granny! She was so nice and was worried about my sunburn hehe As i was leaving she reminded me to put on sunscreen! lol All in all it was a good meal.

Service - **** (this was one of the only waitresses/waiters that I thought to leave more than the 18% that was added on with the DDE)
Food - *** (Not as good as my fav CP, but standard breakfast fare none the less! The bread pudding was the best part!)
Price (Value) - *** (I think the buffet price is pretty good, plus you get characters!! I'm a sucker for the characters!)
Atmosphere - ***
Will We Return? We might go back in Dec considering we are spending two nights at the Beach Club. I would def eat there if I was staying at one of the Boardwalk resorts!

Now....on to my favorite restaurant in all of Disney world....Drum Roll Please...............:cheer2: O'HANA:cheer2:
I was closely following the Dis Boards before we left to find out how people were liking the menu changes and most people didn't seem to pleased. I was really worried that my fav restaurant in Disney was going to go down the tubes for me! Brendan and I were both huge fans of the Potatoes and were a little bummed that they were off the menu. We had a reservation for 9:10 and were hoping to get seated near the window with a view of the castle for the special Princess and Pirate Party fire works. We always save O'Hana for our last night so we were siked to finally be there! We got to the Polynesian early to scope out more of the resort and it really is sooo beautiful! I'm wishing we used our DVC points there instead of the Grand Floridian for the one night in December! I also wanted to check out Sunset Point. I'm hoping that my proposal will be somewhere on Disney property so I have to know what hints I need to drop lol :rotfl: Although Brendan said the more hints I give the less likely I'll get my magical proposal in Disney!!! Maybe I should just propose to him! :lmao: Anyways...Sunset Pointe really is as romantic as everyone says it is! It's up a long path to a pointe with a beautiful view of the castle. At some point I will need to catch the fireworks from here. We walked along the beach and I caught site of the wedding pavilion and talked Brendan into walking over with me even though he was hot and hungry and cranky! I really wished I lived closer to Florida so I could get married there...it's so beautiful! And after that special on the travel channel I was all about a Disney Wedding! We checked in around 8:30 and hoped to be seated a little early since we were both starving. We were seated within 25 minutes or so with a perfect view of the castle! Right up against the window!!!:woohoo: Our cousin came over first and then the waitress came over. She was ok....but our Cousin ROCKED! I always feel it ends up that way here. Maybe it's because I have a fondness to them since they are bringing me that yummy food! They started us off with the welcome bread which I though was really really good! We both liked it much better than the oily wonton chips! So far so good with the new menu! Next up was the chicken wings (same as before and very yummy), Broccoli (sooo good - way better than the stir fried veggies), and the pork wontons which I didn't touch...didn't look like my cup of tea. lol Brendan didn't eat them either. They also brought out the noodles which were sooooo good! I thought they fit so much better with the menu than the potatoes! They also didn't fill you up as much so you could eat more of the yummy meats and of course dessert! Our cousin then brought us out some steak which was cooked perfectly, turkey....did I mention the best turkey tips I've ever had in my life???....and Shrimp. I'm not a fish person but brendan had some. He said it was good...but he is simple adn was getting aggravated trying to figure out how to peal and eat! lol Next up was dessert! The banana bread pudding really does blow all of the other bread pudding on disney property out of the water... although by this meal we were a little bread puddinged out lol We ate dessert while watching the fireworks which were sooo amazing. I thought they were 10 times better than Wishes...and I am notorious for getting a bit emotional during Wishes so I'm def a fan :rotfl: This was about the time in the trip when I turned into a five year old..."I don't want to go home!!!" "Can't We live here forever????" Yup that's usualy how all of our trips end!! I think that mostly because we used to live together in co-ed housing in college and when we graduate we moved home, so disney really is the only time that we get some quality alone time.. :(

Anyway...to finish up this review. O'Hana, IMO, has greatly improved with the new changes and is def still our favorite restaurant on Disney Property...and actually I would say my favorite restaurant in general!!!

Food - *****(this one breaks my rating system with a 5!!!)

Will We Return? You bet your lucky socks we will!!!!

Ok Next up Chef Mickey's and ESPN Club and then we are done with TS! But never fear....we still have CS!!!

BTW thanks for reading and helping me keep the Disney Magic Alive for as long as I can after the most perfect vacation!

It's good to see a positive review of the food at Ohana.
The food was so amazing! I think the menu is even better now than it was before...and this is coming from a huge fan of those potatoes! Sometimes people get over critical! I would recommend trying it and making your own opinion :)

I have an ADR there for my next trip, I am always up for trying new foods, and this is coming from another lover of those potatoes.

Really enjoying your reviews! Ohana used to be one of our faves until we were rushed in and out during one visit, then they took the skewered shrimp off the menu. Now that the shrimp are back we're thinking of giving it another shot!:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Sadly, my dance year is over!!! I really do slip into boredom after the recital...but it gives me a few months to conjure up some ideas for next year!! Anyways.....The recital went really well and I'm back with some more reviews for all of you!

Chef Mickey's Breakfast - Contemporary Resort
I've always wanted to try Chef Mickey's, but usually we only make breakfast reservations to get in the parks early. I'm one of those crazy Disney people who get to the turnstiles about 60 minutes before the parks opens to be the first in line...and Brendan....who is as impatient as a toddler can't stand standing there that long lol So we usually will try to get a breakfast in...it makes both of us happy! I get in early, and he eats instead of standing there! I've read so many positive reviews on Chef Mickey's so I decided to try it. I tried to book 2 months before our trip and everything was booked for every morning of our stay! I was then determined to get this ressie lol I called almost every day for 2 weeks and finally got a 7:05 AM reservation (YUCK!). I took it anyway and figured if we were too tired we'd skip it and I continued to try for something later with no luck. We ended up going at 7:05 and I was afraid we'd have to take a cab over there. I asked the concierge at the Boardwalk and she told me that the buses start running at 6:30 for people going to breakfast. The bus was there promptly at 6:30 and there were only two other people on board. She offered to take us to the Contemporary, but the other two were going to MK for some reason...so she dropped them first then us. (It wasn't even EMH so that park wasn't opening until 9. I don't know what they were planning on doing from 6:30 AM-9 AM) :lmao:

Anyways...we checked in and were seated right away. This is a really fun looking restaurant. Lots of colors and cool Mickey theming. We hit the buffet and everything was sooo good. My favorite was Goofy's Lasagna and Minnie's Breakfast Pizza. I also had a lot of fruit, some scrambled eggs, and yogurt. The characters started coming out around 7:40 and we met all of them before we left (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Donald). This breakfast was great...it was just by the end of our trip we were feeling so fat and bloated from all the good food and really cheesed out! We both eat pretty clean at home so our bodies were definitely in shock after 7 days of yummy disney food!

Service - ***
Food - ** 1/2 (Not a huge selection)
Price (Value) - ***
Atmosphere - **** (One of the coolest themed restaurants for all things Mickey)
Will We Return? We may if we stay at Contemporary or on the monorail...but I think next time we will be sticking to in park breakfasts!

ESPN Club Lunch -Boardwalk
ESPN Club is one of our favorites. It's a cool restaurant if your into sports and everytime we are in Disney a Boston team seems to be in the playoffs or something so Brendan always tries to catch a game! Last time it was the Red Sox...this time the Celtics! We went in and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table (they don't take ADRs here). We started with the nachos which were so/so...I have yet to find nachos in florida that are good! The ones here in Boston are just so much better! The only place that came close was WCC and they don't even have them anymore! Anyways we each got the Ceasar Salad. This is my fav Ceasar Salad on property! The chicken is so good! As always...it was a fun time at the ESPN Club! If you are a sports fan it is definitely a must to try!!!

Service - ** (we always get spotty service here...but all the TVs keep your mind off the fact that you are waiting!)
Food - * (Nachos), ***(Salads)
Price (Value) - ***
Atmosphere - ***** (Yup this one is breaking the scales too!!! It's just such a cool one of a kind type of place! and it's always awesome to see Brendan in heaven! lol)
Will We Return? Most Def!!!!

Ok Guys! The TS are done!:woohoo:

But never fear......I have plenty of Counter Service reviews for ya! I know...It must be hard for most of you to believe that we had any room for any more food....but we did!

ESPN fans here!!!! It wouldn't be a trip to Disney without an order of hot wings from ESPN, DH LOVES them..:goodvibes

Two of my favorites...Guess this will be a good lunch break from Epcot!

Thx again for all your GREAT REVIEWS!:goodvibes
