7 Magical Days of Disney Dining

Thanks for posting your dining reviews, I'm enjoying them and looking forward to reading more! Nice pictures too! Especially that "castle in the mist" shot, I've never seen it that way before... incredibly cool. :cool2:

Hi Everyone! I'm back with day 3 of Disney Dining :) O I also wanted to mention that we were not on the Disney Dining Plan this vacation. We did use the DDE though and saw a lot of savings!!! They add an 18% gratuity to the bill now which made it easy for us to just sign and leave! It also works out for us too because we usually leave about 20% or a little more!

First up is Le Cellier Lunch - Epcot World Showcase (Canada)
Le Cellier has always been a favorite for us until recently. It's not that we do not still love Le Cellier....we just found better steak at Jiko! Brendan's sister was supposed to come to Disney with us, but had to cancel last minute so the only last minute ressie we could get for le Cellier was for lunch which was fine for us. I started with the cheese soup which was pretty good, although I remember it being better. And of course used a lot of that bread to dip in it!!! We each had the Mushroom fillet. I got mine without all the mushrooms on top....I'm not a big fan, but I did like the Mushroom risotto that it came with surprisingly. Le Cellier was still good, but we have realized that Jiko is the place to be for a great..... not just good filet.

Service - *** (Our waitress was good, but quiet and she didn't talk much about Canada like we have had happen before.)
Food - ** 3/4
Price (Value) - **
Atmosphere - ** 3/4 (It's cool to be down in the cellar, but with a nice day I'd rather see some sunshine lol It is very fancy looking though which is nice)
Will We Return? - We won't be going back to Le cellier next trip. It's like most of the others....If I had a longer trip I'd do it all, but we want to try Coral Reef next time and Shula's Steakhouse for steak.

Tappan Edo Dinner- Epcot World Showcase Pavilion (Japan)
I wasn't sure of what to expect going into this meal. Brendan really doesn't like Chinese food, and I wasn't sure if Japanese food was at all similar, but I really wanted to try this restaurant for the atmosphere and the menu looked like it offered grilled fair that he would like. As we walked toward the Japan pavilion we heard the Japanese drummers and watched them for a bit before heading up to check in which was cool. We had a 7:45 reservation and hoped to be done with dinner and just stroll out to see Illuminations! We checked in about 30 minutes before our reservation, but ended up waiting about a half hour-40 minutes to be seated anyway. By the time our buzzer started vibrating, we were starving and Brendan was getting cranky lol The waiting area was packed too as it services Tappan Edo and Tokyo Dining. We were seated at a grille with six other people....two of which didn't seem too friendly or into the experience at all. lol The waitress came out to take our drink orders and explain the process to us. We got our drinks about 5 minutes later. It took the chef about 20 minutes to come out so by this time Brendan was starting to get tired ontop of grumpy lol He gets moody when he's hungry! Our chef was really good. I got the grilled chicken, as did Brendan, only I asked for mine with no mushrooms, which the chef was very happy to accomodate. The food was served with udon noodles, white rice, and stir fryed veggies (Zucchini and onions...although I think there was one more veggie that was offered but I can't remember what it was). brendan and I also split the yaki-sushi Crispy Suklyaki Beef Roll. He wanted traditional sushi to try, but I'm not so much a fish person so I talked him into this lol. It was pretty good. Brendan and I were the first ones to be finished eating. I don't know if it was because we wimped out of using the chop sticks and used a fork or because everyone else ordered steak and it took that much longer to cook lol. We always eat pretty fast though. We waited until everyone was served, but by this time it was 8:55 and Illuminations was about to start! :scared1: I loveeee all the fireworks shows at Disney and def didn't want to miss my first Illuminations experience of the trip. We paid and scooted out of there and caught the last half of the show. We felt kind of rude leaving....but the meal took longer than expected. I would have loved the slow pace of the meal if I didn't have a fireworks display to catch lol It's nice to slow down for dinner after the fury of touring the parks all day!

Service - **** (The meal was slow, but I think that is the intention at this restaurant. Our servers were unbelievable and refilled our drinks before we realized they were empty. Everyone was super nice too and the hostesses greeted us before we were even up the staircase to check in!)
Food - *** 1/2
Price (Value) - ***
Atmosphere - ****
Will we return? Most definitely!

glad to hear you had a good time at tony's - you're right, most reviews are not very positive! - very cute photo of you two in the car at sci-fi! - have had the artichoke/spinach dip before, very good - we're fast eaters too - would probably have been done and off the teppan table as quick as you!

Thanks so much :) That pic from sci-fi is one of my favorites! Ya we always stuff down our food lol

Hi Everyone!!! These reviews might take a little bit longer than expected. I'm the owner of a dance studio here in Boston and our big end of the year recital is this weekend so work is going to be a bit crazy this week, but I will try to chip away bit by bit! Next up is Tusker House Breakfast at the Animal Kingdom and Chefs de France Lunch at Epcot!!! :)

Can't wait for more reviews! We'll be there in 13 days:yay: and have ADRs for a lot of the places you're reviewing. So thanks for the input!!

Tusker House Breakfast Buffet - Animal Kingdom
We weren't originally going to eat at Tusker House. I figured it would be similar to Donald's Breakferantasaurus (had no clue how it was spelled lol), but we decided to give it a try simply to get into the parks before opening so we wouldn't have to wait in line. We got a ressie for 8:15 AM with no problem the day before we wanted to go. We checked in at 8:00 AM and waited about 5 minutes and were seated right away. Before entering the restaurant they take your picture (which they offer to sell to you during Breakfast. I believe it was $30 for a 5x7 and 4 4x6 photos.) The photographer was nice enough to take one with our camera as well as with hers.

We were seated in the main dining area and attacked the buffet as soon as the drink orders were taken! :rotfl: This breakfast had a good amount of food to offer! They had fresh fruit out, all kinds of bagels and pastries, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and granola, ham, veggie frittata, cheese blintzes, waffles and a few others. They also had unbelievable bread pudding! It was banana cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla sauce. I had the scrambled eggs, fruit, bread pudding, veggie fritatta, and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were really good. They weren't wet and soggy, but not dry. They were perfect. The potatoes were pretty good too. If I remember correctly they were pretty heavily seasoned though and i couldn't find ketchup on the buffet which I usually put on my potatoes. The fruit was fresh, but the watermelon wasn't seedless which I was bummed about! I hate picking the seeds out lol The fruit wasn't as fresh as it was at CP though. The Veggie frittata was ok....not my cup of tea. It was a little weird because it was made with a pie crust. It didn't do it for me. Brendan ate a lot of the same foods as me, but he subbed in the hard boiled eggs for scrambled eggs. I can't understand how he eats cold hard boiled eggs! I like them warm...but no cold! lol

Donald, Mickey, Goofy, and Daisy were all at Breakfast. The only one that we didn't get to meet was Goofy, but we met him at two other breakfasts so it was all good.

Our waitress here was really nice and was quick to refill the drinks. She was nothing over the top amazing, but provided great service!

We timed the meal perfectly too! As we were walking out the crowd was approaching heading to the safari! It def beat waiting at the turnstiles!

Here is a picture with us and Mickey! They all dress in safari outfits!

Service - ***
Food- ** 1/2 (It was good, but not as good as the other breakfasts on our trip)
Price (Value) - ** 1/2 (didn't have as many foods offered as some of the other buffets)
Atmosphere- *** (This restaurant was really nice! I loved all the decorations)
Will We Return? - Most Likely. Its the only breakfast in AK and we'd rather sit down to eat than wait outside to get into the parks. It was much better than the breakfast that used to be in Dinoland!

Chefs de France Lunch- Epcot World Showcase Pavilion - France
This is another one that we didn't plan ahead of time and just walked right up at 1:45 and was seated within 5 minutes. I was kind of itching to try it since the pics on the Disboards made the food and restaurant look so good! Our waiter was nice, although it was tough getting used to the thick french accent. I ordered the French Onion Soup (which was really really good) and the Macaroni and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was kind of too much in my opinion. I really liked it, but after a few bites I was done. It was thick and rish and would have been perfect if paired with something else. Brendan ate the rest of it for me though! lol Brendan ordered the Salade Nicoise. He said it was really good. This restaurant is very pretty and fancy looking inside. Everything was really good...just a little over the top with the cheese for me! Next time I think I would get the soup with something else from the menu. Don't get me wrong, the macaroni was great....just too much cheese for lunch lol

Service - ***
Food- ** 1/2 (Everything was good...just nothing over the top memorable)
Price (Value) - ***
Atmosphere- *** (I really liked the inside of the restaurant....Very pretty!)
Will We Return? - Prob not! We are trying to cut out some of the "fun" food next trip lol Brendan is a personal trainer so was very worried about his physique this trip!! There are also a lot of other places in Epcot we want to try!

Here is a picture in front of the fountain that is right outside Chefs.

Next up: Jiko and Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge

Hi Guys! I wanted to post some pictures of the water tubing that we did through Sammy Duvall's Watersports at the Contemporary since I sort of reviewed our experience there early on! It's great if you can fit it into your trip!

This first picture is of Brendan in front of a pretty Mickey Topiary in the back of the Contemporary:

These next three are of Brendan Water Tubing. We usually go together and then I come in for a little bit. He likes to be a little bit more extreme and reckless that I'm cool with! lol I got a good shot of him with the construction of the new building at the Contemporary in the background and for all you DVCers, our driver told us it is supposed to be a DVC villas with 1 and 2 bedrooms. Although I think it would be weird if they didn't build any studios?
