7-day Eastern Question

What are the best activities to do when you are in St. Thomas and St. Marteen if you do not book a shore excursion on the ship? What beaches would you recommend visiting? There will be 3 adults traveling. Any advice would be appreciated.

We took a taxi to the ferry for St. John and then a taxi to Trunk Bay. Had a great day snorkelling and swimming and since its a national park there are no locals trying to braid your hair or sell you crafts. Doing it on our own was a big saving over the excursion cost and we could stay on the beach as long as we wanted. When we got back to the ship we were able to shop for souvenirs. Long haul to get there but the beach was worth it.

disneykins has a good idea, alot of people do that. Just one word of caution. DO NOT cut your time heading back to the ship too close. The ship leaves the same time it is quitting time in town and there is alot and I mean alot of traffic. Also a word of caution on getting your hair braided by locals....don't. The word sanitation does not register with them. You don't need head lice as a souvenier from the island.
