Hi everyone. This is my first time posting. I have already received a lot of useful information for our upcoming cruise-Jan 2005. I wanted to know about booking land excursions-do you go through DCL or other companies? Are they reputable? How do you go about it? My DH & DS (8) really want to swim w/ dolphins. ANy suggestions? Thanks.

If you have the time and $, I would strongly recommend swimming with the dolphine at Discovery Cove (sister park to Sea World) rather than on the cruise. We were disappointed at the experience on the cruise, but loved Discovery Cove.

I have also heard on these boards that the dolphin encounter on the Eastern is not as good as the one mentioned above.

As for other excursions, if you find one you like being offered thru DCL, look for the excursion company's website, to see if they have a better offer by booking it on your own.

Also, lots of folks rent cars or take cabs to do their own thing on the islands.

Happy Planning!

We went on the eastern cruise last December. Did not swim with Dolphins but knew folks who did and loved it. We went on the Doubloon excursion, like a pirate schooner, go out to an island and snorkle and on the way back have lots of music and punch, or cokes. We had a great time, even got pirate (tatoos) from the skipper! My kids are 13 and 9.
