7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Who is in charge of the FE'S ? I sent Celestine a PM, thinking it was her.
I noticed my name, Scrapycruiser ( Gina ) was still on the list and several months ago I had decided not to do it.

BUT since I've done it before, and it is alot of fun ...count me in !!:cool1:

How do I get a copy of the participants and their cabin #'s. We're in 5524 ( trying out the secret porthole ) :rolleyes1

So disappointed that we joined this thread too late to participate...have been reading more and more about FE's and they sound like sooo much fun.

Thank you, I would like to be able to do a bunch of them, just not sure how many my kids will make it through. I think we will be picking them up, although the live thread from the current baltic cruisers says that it is cheaper to get it in the terminal than ahead of time, so we will likely do that.
Yes, it looks like picking the Oslo Pass up at the port is probably the better option:thumbsup2

Check with Celestine, but I think late comers can participate on a contingency basis.
That is some folks will have extras and will be able to inlcude you but others who have limited numbers to hand out won't.

It is fun for the kids even if you just grab some small items (candy, stickers, etc) ahead of time and put them in your own FE yourself for them to find later.
I got my FE on ebay from gradysmommy (just searched for "fish extender") and it came pretty quick for about $25 (plus shipping).
Or you can use anything with pockets that can hang from the fish:confused3

OK, so final details are done, just need to buy pastries and prizes!

Prize is for the Baltic Ballyhoo Bus Music Quiz. 20 pieces of music will be played (probably more than once). 1 point for artist, 1 point for song title and 1 point for connecting each track to the cruise - maximum 60 points. We will provide answer sheets, you provide the answers & a pen (acquired from your hotel). Please hand your answers to me, Paul or one of motley crew at Dover - winner (and answers) announced at the DISmeet.

Celestine

Sounds great:thumbsup2:cool1:
I'm horrible at these type of games, but my DH and DS usually do well:goodvibes

Hey Everybody!

Linda and I are really sad that we won't be Ballyhoo'ing with you, but we wanted to wish you all a safe and magical trip!!

We'll miss you and your family, I was looking forward to cruising with y'all.
You'll have to give me directions to your store and I'll have to visit you there sometime. We tried to find it once and got lost and kept going in circles, so there was no meeting Mike that day. :headache:

Packing question:

The only thing that is preventing me from starting to at least think about what clothing to bring is the weather. I am really unsure of whether to pack for summer (shorts and tees) or long pants and long sleeves. I know to bring a light jacket and rain gear. I am also going to bring 2 pairs of zip off pants that turn into shorts. With the weight restrictions, I don't want to bring too much of one type and not enough of another. The in-between weather is the worst to pack for.

Any suggestions from those that have experienced the ports before? I know London can be warm or cool. Does cool mean sweaters and long pants or just a light jacket and shorts?
Maryann your cool question is a hard one, because it could be either way. I've been known to wear a hoodie and shorts or hoodie and pants if it's cool. If it's cool and not damp shorts would be the way to go, and if it's damp then pants are the way to go. It just depends on your own tollerance of temps.

I'm going to pack capris and split the difference!:rotfl: Short sleeve tops and a sweatshirt, and a rain poncho.

Think I will have 1 or 2 pairs of shorts, but mostly capris and long pants and a mixture of short and long sleeve knit shirts and maybe 1 skirt - still in thinking mode here

both of us have a sweatshirt with a hoodie and nylon jackets with hoods

I'll take capris, 1 or 2 pair of pants and a pair of shorts. I just picked up a couple of sweaters at Target today and they will be much easier to pack and take up less space than sweatshirts.
I just bought DH & I the packable rain jackets on the Wonder last week. They have them at WDW and was going to get those, but since I spent more than enough on the ship I just picked them up. They are $12.95 with a $40.00 purchase and are pullover nylon jackets with a hood that pack up into their own bag.

Thanks for all of the kind welcomes.

We are looking forward to cruising with all of you.

Great suggestions, thanks. The packable jackets sound like a good idea. Sometimes you just need a little something. I'll throw in 2 light sweaters, one black, one white. I can use them around the ship or for the theatre which can be a little cool sometimes. I think I'll bring more capris, a few long pants and light on the shorts. Capris are fine for me to about 80 degrees so except for maybe London and Berlin, I doubt it will be that warm. Am I correct, or off base that the odds of 80+ degrees F are slim?

Hi Mike, we will sure miss you on this trip! Glad you and the family had a great trip to WDW.

Andrew or anyone,

How do you pay ahead for OBC?

In this instance it was the land based concierge who took the payment, they are working very hard on a number of my final requests, I have put on $2,000 so far to balance out the shore trips booked and my commitments, such as Palo, likely photo package, and drinks and shops budget.

I pre paid my tips in November last year when the £ was at a better rate, its had a little rise recently so wanted to take advantage of that.

You can call DCL direct, (any one can do that), or send a Gift form, from the Gifts section on the DCL website, (fax it), or if you booked via a TA, you can additionally ask them to do it, but you do not have to.

I hopefully will start *level* ie on a Nil balance and therefore do not worry about anything else, ie Credit cards clear for shopping.

Andrew,

I like your thinking. I've sent my DU agent an email, but haven't heard back from her just yet. I'd like to clear out as many charges as I can (tours, spa, food and drink, etc) before the cruise. Just peace of mind.

Normally on DU, if you log into the client area for you, you can send a secure instruction of payment, just select the amount, and the reason, 'other' and type in OBC, and they do it quickly.

This is the way I tend to do things, have everything I know I have booked or will do, pre paid, then I have a clear head on budgets, so when the Kids say, want this, or that I do not worry about it and can total it up easily. And things feel better that its paid, rather than get home and then a month later get that credit card bill. I am starting paying off my 2011 holidays in August! -For RCCL and Cyprus.

PS 29,000 Post!

Now London pic of the day.

You will always find it hard to find a free space to park your car in London.

I think we are going to bring some for everyone so the kids can try it out and taking your suggestion of adding to our own as well. Will have to remember next cruise to get onto here earlier. Thanks again.

did haircuts today after Kara got off work - she came out dripping wet - she was working with the little day campers this morning, helping them in and out of the pool, putting on taking off their life jackets, fishing kids out when they were over their heads

then stopped at Goodwill and picked up a couple of paperback books - that way they don't have to come home if we need the space for something better

Madison and I went to see Toy Story 3 today.popcorn:: We decided we didn't want to wait til the cruise. It was really cute and we did shed a tear or two!

Just post your cabin # anyway, just in case people bring extras, you'll have something.

Thanks Marla. It seems we're neighbors on the ship. You are two cabins down from us on the same side. We had your cabin last year for the Eastern Carib. This time we have the same one we had on the Med.
