7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Who is in charge of the FE'S ? I sent Celestine a PM, thinking it was her.
I noticed my name, Scrapycruiser ( Gina ) was still on the list and several months ago I had decided not to do it.

BUT since I've done it before, and it is alot of fun ...count me in !!:cool1:

How do I get a copy of the participants and their cabin #'s. We're in 5524 ( trying out the secret porthole ) :rolleyes1

If somebody can tell me where I can get a ready made FE I might be inclined to join in seeing as how I have FE gifts :goodvibes. I looked on ebay last night by searching for "fish extenders" and they weren't exactly the kind I was looking for :lmao::rotfl2: It would be fun to take part in the FE exchange if I can get my hands on an extender.

Hi DIS Board Ballyhoo Cruisers-

I have been lurking for quite some time. We were supposed to go on the Mexico cruise in 2008 but the beginning of the recession changed all of that. I did not want to jinx us so I have been sitting on the sidelines since April 2009 with reservations to the Baltic. Now we are a group of nine celebrating my parents 50th anniversary.

Our travel group-

Cabin 2112
Don Jr. (me) 48
Anna 46
Deanna 14
Donnie 12

Cabin 2094
Louella (Grandma) ??
Don Sr. (Grandpa) 73

Cabin 2096
Curt 48
Sondra (my sister) 46
Charlie 2

We are looking forward to meeting everybody. :jumping1:

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Also there is a kids thread for the children there are kids there the same age as yours my kids are 14 and 12.

FE Update:

Many of you remember Harole Ann. She was booked on our cruise and had to cancel because of the death of her beloved husband Garry. She was going to travel anyway with her grandson but decided not to. Harole Ann shipped her FE gifts to me so you will be finding something in there from her. I won't tell you what it is except that it has our logo and is white. She just wants everyone to know that she is thinking of us and hopes we have a great time.

Thank YOU Harole Ann!

Than you Harole Ann!!! How nice of you.

Many of us are doing private tours in St Pete (Anastasia), but some are booking that DCL Ball at Catherine's Palace. Unless there is something specific on the DCL excursions that you really want to do-the private tours seem the better way to go in St Pete:confused3

Thanks Andrew:thumbsup2

Thanks Gina:thumbsup2
Will check it out tomorrow as there is a Bed Bath and Beyond near our movie theater and I have to see the movie Eclipse tomorrow with my DD:woohoo:

I've never been to Oslo but have read that it is easy to do from a cruise ship on your own. There will be a bunch of us picking up our Oslo cards and you can tag along to get your own:thumbsup2

The gifts can be anonymous or you can indicate they are from you:goodvibes
Either way is fine.

:rotfl::rotfl:

My Anastasia tickets came during the night!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Today, I sent a payment to Anastasia via Bank transfer and from the rates and the charge compared to currency or credit card, I have saved at least £120. Plus its safer, there is a fee but the transfer is on Business exchange rates not tourist rates. This is before Roberts good call, that if you pay Anastasia in USA $, you will loose even more!!

So if you want to save real money check it out, not an expert on USA Banking, but worth looking at, ie saved 10%. And prepaid a tip for them.

I had before prepaid DCL tips ex Concierge,

Was looking to put on an OBC to cover DCL shore trips but £ slid back a little today, still plenty of time, looking for at least 1.50 and just under.

I was so excited :dance3: I borrowed a BB& B coupon from a co-worker and rushed right over there. Imagine my disappointment :guilty: when they said they no longer carry it. He did say they could try ordering the trial size but it might be 3-4 weeks before it came in.:headache: Well my grocery store carries the large size so if worse comes to worse, I can buy a big bottle and put some into a smaller carry on size. :woohoo: I might try Target or Walmart. Oh, btw I did find the travel size TP at BB&B. They have quite a large selection of travel size products. Thanks for the tip Scrappy Cruiser :thumbsup2

I found some at Walmart in the travel section the other day.

Good Morning All

Busy bunch last night!:surfweb: My back went out yesterday whilst climbing down a ladder from a roof!:headache::sick:

Nasty, do respect it, mine went a while back, just getting socks out of a low cabinet it was bad for some time and when lifting luggage about 6 months later went again.

Oslo is a very easy city to DIY !! We were there 2 yrs ago and will be doing it ourselves this cruise.

When you get off the ship there will be a TI, tourist info. Buy your city cards. Seems like they are around $30 each. They will take cc. If you want to see the Viking Museum or the Fram or Kon Tiki or Norweigan Folk Museum the ferry is very close by that takes you to the island with all the museums. Just ask someone to point you in the right direction.

You can use your city card for the ferry, the museums, the tram that will take you to the Vigeland Park, there's also, within walking distance, The Nobel Peace Museum and Akersus Castle, the Resistance Museum ( in the castle ).

The ship is so close to everything that we went back to the ship to eat lunch. Then went back in town to shop. Bought a pretty wool lap throw..very Norweigan !

Sorry my directions are a little vague. But trust me, everything is very close and easy to get to. If you purchase the Oslo Card you won't need any other money unless you purchase lunch or drinks.

Have a wonderful time ! Oslo is one of my favorite cities !!

Okay I think I am sold on DIY. :yay::yay:Should I pre-purchase my Oslo Cards?

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Sarah

You can purchase the cards online, but you still have to exchange the voucher you print out at the TI. Can't remember if you save by buying online ??

Ok got into the habit of finalising things today, after prepaying St Pete's tours, -to know where we stand.

Put on OBC, to cover all commitments books, shore, Palo etc.

Ordered currency for each port, £50 in each of Norway, Denmark, Tallinn, Stockholm, then Euros and Roubles, £300 each for them,

So
  • Tips paid.
  • Car parking booked.
  • Table and rotation requested.

So whats left???

Packing???

OK, so final details are done, just need to buy pastries and prizes!

Prize is for the Baltic Ballyhoo Bus Music Quiz. 20 pieces of music will be played (probably more than once). 1 point for artist, 1 point for song title and 1 point for connecting each track to the cruise - maximum 60 points. We will provide answer sheets, you provide the answers & a pen (acquired from your hotel). Please hand your answers to me, Paul or one of motley crew at Dover - winner (and answers) announced at the DISmeet.

Celestine

Please note each bus will have a sign which is the logo in my signature. Unfortunately I can't get it very big without losing quality, so these are only A4 size and will be in the front window of the coach - remember it is a Kingsferry coach.
