7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

how nice of HaroleAnne in thinking of us

Proud owner of a new garbaga disposal (another thing crossed off that pesky to do list) :yay:

FE Update:

Many of you remember Harole Ann. She was booked on our cruise and had to cancel because of the death of her beloved husband Garry. She was going to travel anyway with her grandson but decided not to. Harole Ann shipped her FE gifts to me so you will be finding something in there from her. I won't tell you what it is except that it has our logo and is white. She just wants everyone to know that she is thinking of us and hopes we have a great time.

Thank YOU Harole Ann!

I've been in that position. I understand completely. Please give her my best. :grouphug: :flower3::daisy::rose::rose::rose:

Our Med thread was obsessed with toilet paper and we had a lot of fun joking about TP. Many of us rolled our own as we were concerned with being without at some of the more remote stops. The funniest thing is that every stop in Europe had TP, the only time I needed it and used it was in JFK airport in New York!!!! :lmao:

Funny, I brought TP to the Med and never used it either. I still have it in my cabinet.

Andrew or anyone,

How do you pay ahead for OBC?

Just call DCL or your TA, whomever you booked with, and tell them you want to put money onto your shipboard account. They will take your credit card details over the phone and apply the credit to your KTTW card account.

Robert it's too close to vacation to be climbing on a roof and hurting yourself. That's what handymen are for. :thumbsup2

We got our Anastasia 'tickets' yesterday after I sent her an email with a question and then asked about the paperwork as well. I'm really thinking of cancelling the boat ride and either spending a bit more time at the Church of the Savior of the Spilt Blood, or checking out the vendors across the street or checking out the park across the street. We could decide to do one of those things depending on the weather. That will also get us back to the ship a bit sooner and the kids can wind down from the day and we can all eat at our scheduled time.

ladyvet and co. will be at the DISmeet on our first sea day. Can't wait to meet everyone.

I'm also fired up for the Ballyhoo bus competition! I'll have pen in hand and be ready ;)
Beth

Good morning Robert.

Ouch:headache:
Hope your back feels better soon:guilty:
Try to rest it if you can:grouphug:

Cooled down here yesterday and last night it was around 51 - makes for great sleeping weather

Take care Robert, it's too close to vacation to be doing dangerous honey-do list items!!

Nasty, do respect it, mine went a while back, just getting socks out of a low cabinet it was bad for some time and when lifting luggage about 6 months later went again.

Robert....so sorry to hear about your back ! Jack Daniels and bedrest recommended !!;)

Thank you all for your well wishes, and I liked the idea about bed & jack Daniel's!:thumbsup2

However I am taking muscle relaxents & about 400mg of Alleve every 6 hours!

Oh it was not a honey do list item I would have one of my handymen take care of those!:lmao:

It is my real life where we are having a retail building reroofed & someone has to make sure that our money is being well spent that is my job!:sad2: So I was up the ladder again today!

OK, so final details are done, just need to buy pastries and prizes!

Prize is for the Baltic Ballyhoo Bus Music Quiz. 20 pieces of music will be played (probably more than once). 1 point for artist, 1 point for song title and 1 point for connecting each track to the cruise - maximum 60 points. We will provide answer sheets, you provide the answers & a pen (acquired from your hotel). Please hand your answers to me, Paul or one of motley crew at Dover - winner (and answers) announced at the DISmeet.

Celestine

Celestine You & Paul are just too much!:thumbsup2

Packing question:

The only thing that is preventing me from starting to at least think about what clothing to bring is the weather. I am really unsure of whether to pack for summer (shorts and tees) or long pants and long sleeves. I know to bring a light jacket and rain gear. I am also going to bring 2 pairs of zip off pants that turn into shorts. With the weight restrictions, I don't want to bring too much of one type and not enough of another. The in-between weather is the worst to pack for.

Any suggestions from those that have experienced the ports before? I know London can be warm or cool. Does cool mean sweaters and long pants or just a light jacket and shorts?

I'm going to pack capris and split the difference!:rotfl: Short sleeve tops and a sweatshirt, and a rain poncho.

Think I will have 1 or 2 pairs of shorts, but mostly capris and long pants and a mixture of short and long sleeve knit shirts and maybe 1 skirt - still in thinking mode here

both of us have a sweatshirt with a hoodie and nylon jackets with hoods

I think I am missing something...where is the need for travel size toilet paper?

Sometimes when we travel out of the U.S. toilet paper (and soap) isn't always available when walking around. Or if available, not as soft or durable. One time we were limited on the number of squares and even had to pay in advance for them...so that is why we tend to bring a bit along.[/QUOTE]

Thank you, would never have thought of that.

With so many of the museums so close together it is very easy to get your money's worth from the Oslo card. Not the same with the other ports I heard though:confused3

With us, after the ferry, The Viking museum, the Kon Tiki museum, the Fram, Akershus Fortress and the Resistance museum...we are definitely saving money. Plus with Oslo our first port we are not likely to be as tired as the other ports.
But if you think you might not do more than one or two museums or other activity included with the card then maybe not for you:confused3
It all depends on what you want to do.

Thank you, I would like to be able to do a bunch of them, just not sure how many my kids will make it through. I think we will be picking them up, although the live thread from the current baltic cruisers says that it is cheaper to get it in the terminal than ahead of time, so we will likely do that.
