Have a great trip! I know what you mean by dodging the delivery guy. One year I left a blanket on the front porch with a note on the door that said "put the blanket over the barbie house and hide it in the bushes." I bet that gave him a chuckle, but he did it!

:santa:6 WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!

42 DAYS:santa:

And 3 days til I leave for some Disney magic!!!!!

I will be ordering my Pottery Barn and Lego stuff today~am going to call first and see how many days they say for delivery…Lego stuff usually takes longer for me to receive than PB…but, I want it to come next week so my mom can hide it!:good vibes How are you all doing this morning? We had that major cold front come in and it was sooooo cold when we woke up!But, it's beautiful outside!

Wow 6 weeks is nothing! I am not anywhere near ready for Christmas but the tree is up! I am making a turkey this weekend and we will be in WDW the end of next week!

I am not ready either. My DD informed me of the 42 days first thing this morning. She is my Christmas loving child. Of course when your birthday is Dec. 24th it is hard not to love Chirstmas. LOL

She ended up digging out the little tree for her room last night. She wants to decorate it this weekend.

I am hoping to have my game plan between now and rest of year laid out this weekend. 42 days is not long when you have thanksgiving, 2 birthday's in December, 6 nieces/nephews to buy for, wrap, and ship to ensure gifts make in time for the holidays, and Christmas. Of course this is all on top of work, school, and after school activites. :hourglass

I guess we are all feeling the need to get organized and have a plan! So…I will get a few list items out for you ladies!

~1. If you have NOT made a gift list at this point, that is what your main priority needs to be before this weekend passes.
~2. If you have a list and just haven't finished shopping, you really need to focus on getting that finished ASAP.( I plan to do my online ordering today so that things will arrive while my mom is here to hide things.) If possible, try to have ALL items including stocking stuffers bought by November 24. This will give you 2 more weeks and you won't be tempted to buy last minute stuff in December.
~3. If you are hosting Thanksgiving Day at your home, try to make a list for your family to complete this weekend:any major cleaning of your home or yard, Grocery lists and send reminders of who should bring what. Remember that the closer it gets, the cost of baking goods increase.
~4. If you are putting up the tree before Thanksgiving you have 2 weekends to get it done.
~5. If & when all your gifts are bought, purchase all your wrapping stuff if you haven't already done that.
~6. If you send out Christmas cards with family photos, decide who is wearing what and plan a day for it. Purchase stamps now.
~7. If you are to point #5 already, you can start thinking about any things you bake as Christmas gifts or goodie bags you send. Start your separate list for the grocery store for all these items and start buying for it now…if you get a little at a time it won't take such a bite from your weekly budget.Unless you have a Christmas account that you take it from,…either way, start early. Also, I know some of you have to do things for your children's classes and school parties…now is the time to get anything you know you will have to have for that~if you don't know yet, keep it mind for your budget and what you may be expected to spend.
~8. Get out those Christmas movies and CDs and start enjoying the music and the mood!!
~9. Remember what the season is about and try not to let crabby people or ungrateful people get you down or aggravated. This can be really tough sometimes depending on the people you are around the most. But, its our job to spread the cheer and the Christmas message!
~10. Get all this done and prep early and by the second weekend of December you should be able to look back and see that you have accomplished so much and you can relax!!!!

Love this list!!

Great list! Thanks for posting. So I only need one more thing for each kid and I'm done. Santa brings 7 presents and we put 2 under the tree (they always remember what Santa brings but they never remember who gave them the other presents). So close. Just need to buy gift cards and presents for my in laws. I also plan to order some photo calendars from Costco.

Thanks.. I always work better from a list..so I thought I would pass it on!

Gosh, lots to do!

I always get the teachers something like gift cards but between the teachers and aides and bus driver etc but it is really a lot. Maybe I will just contribute to the class gifts and be done with it? But then I want to do something for the aides. I don"t know!

I think baked goods would be lovely, but many people suggest against them. Maybe if you have a good bakery near you you could pick up a little treat? A note/card from your child would be very much appreciated, I'm sure. My aunt used to be a school bus driver for kindergartners, and I know a card from one of her kids would have really touched her heart :flower3:

ETA: Not sure what your budget is for teacher gifts, but you could also do $5 Starbucks giftcards for the aides/bus drivers.

My son spends half of the day with his homeroom teacher. I have a break away Vera Bradley lanyard, fuzzy snowman socks and maybe something else. Two others he is with for 50 minutes each. I am baking pumpkin bread, brownies and cookies that I will split between them on a Christmas plate for each and will do the same for the assistant they all share. All special support teachers art, etc. get Body and Bath products I bought on sale. My DS will start writing personal notes to each this weekend. We write so many each day until they are done.

~1. If you have NOT made a gift list at this point, that is what your main priority needs to be before this weekend passes. Done

Most likely I will bake cookies when I am up visiting family for Christmas. Not really in much of a mood to bake this year by myself.
~8. Get out those Christmas movies and CDs and start enjoying the music and the mood!! Just bought a bunch of new Christmas CDs! Well, new to me. I bought Celtic Woman, Lady Antebellum, Michael Buble, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Clarkson.

The big things I have to do still is wrapping everything, order my cat his gift (yes, the cat is getting gifts... multiple actually), and decorate. I am not doing a lot of decorating since I won't be here for Christmas (no way could I handle my first Christmas without my mom without all my family). Just a small tree, a wreath over the fireplace, and the mantle (since stockings go there).

Lily~way to go! And yes, I would think it would be tough to have Christmas without your mom~especially the first year:hug:

I've been wanting to put a tree up in our breakfast nook. I went to Target yesterday and they had a little 6 ft. one on sale for $20. I'm thinking it might go up tonight :thumbsup2

I need to get on the gift list. I'm good about knowing what we're getting the kids, it's all those other people that I wait til the last minute on.

A part of me is NOT looking forward to the holidays in general (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years). It is going to be really dang hard to stay cheerful when I am missing my mom and our traditions. Things just won't feel right. I am trying so hard to look at the bright points about spending them with my family in Indiana but at times... at times it is nearly impossible to think about enjoying them.

I do have to say that I have an amazing family. They are trying to get me involved with the plans and everything. They are really trying to make me feel included and a part of the celebration. For Thanksgiving my cousin and I are going to try to do rolls from scratch!

Also, I have to go hunting for my other xmas CDs. I have a few new ones, but I want some of my old ones! They are most likely packed since I really expected to have moved by Christmas (now it will be sometime after the first of the year). Ripping them all to my comp so I can blast my music when wrapping and decorating!

I'm not going to be technically finished by Thanksgiving. My father in law has promised to give us an amazon wish list. I guess he wasn't thrilled with us going rouge last year and buying surprises :rotfl:. Anyway, he'll never have the list before Thanksgiving. There is no point in getting upset over it.

I got something I ordered online for dd7 from PBK. It was a gown and slippers for her AG doll. It looks horrible. I got it on sale for $12.99 for the set so I can't take it back (their return policy is no returns on anything ending in .99). I would have been better served buying a set from Etsy.

I also picked up dd7's Stuffies from a local toy story using a 25% off coupon. They wrapped it for me so one gift wrapped!

Ok girls… I am headed to Disney in the morning!!! Y'all hold the fort down for me while we are gone!!Keep motivating each other to get going and stay calm!:rotfl:
