My friend's 6 year old nephew is having major spinal surgery tomorrow morning...My trip to DL isn't for another month, but my plan is to have his fave characters (Mickey, Buzz (if he's there) and Chip and Dale) sign a postcard (or mult. postcards) saying something...like "hang in there buddy" or "have a great summer"...I also figure I will stop by City Hall and ask if there is anything they'd be able to do for him...any other suggestions??

I appreciate everyone who responds to my posts...you all make this board such a great resource!:goodvibes

well what about getting him alittel stuffy of each of them and haveing them sign it if they can. Or getting a micky hat and haveing his name engraved on it and then them sign it?

ps ive ehard buzz is buy the buzz eatery thingy.. i dont know wher eit is but i think it has him there

My son did an autograph book last year and had his photo taken with each character. It was really good and he had a lot of fun. You could find out who his favourites are and take their picture holding up a sign that says get well soon with his name. I am sure under the circumstances town hall will help you out with times and locations to find his favourites.

You can buy the DL autograph books at DL.

i had spinal surgery last summer !!! it was a spinal fusion for scoliosis. i couldnt go last summer to disney and it was horrible. i tried not to think about it. if my friends had gone to disney and brought me something, i would have gotten real jealous that they went and i didnt. i would prefer if no one reminded me of disney. and now im finally going back in 5 days after two years of withdrawal!! jajaja

You are so sweet! I love the idea of making a sign that says "Get Well" (or something) and taking character's pictures with it and putting the pics in an autograph book.

There are tons of cute toys and t-shirts and hats that you could get. If you wanted something for right now, what about a DVD of a Disney movie? He will probably be stuck in bed and bored for quite a while, some movies might help pass the time. You could even search around online for videos of the Disneyland fireworks and parade and fantasmic and burn them onto a DVD.

I don't know how long this will take but you might want to try to call, fax or email a letter to Guest Relations. You can ask if they can have his favorite characters sign a card and maybe even ask for a Honorary Citizen of Disneyland pin.

I read somewhere that you can bring a pillowcase for the characters to sign with a fabric marker and it turns out really cute. I was thinking of doing it on our upcomming trip.
Good luck to your nephew on his surgery!

I've also heard of people buying a photo frame and having the characters sign the mat that goes around the photo.

Thanks for all the great ideas! My friend said he made it through surgery and has at least a bit of an appetite...Great things!

As a sidenote to PigletGurl...although it may have made you (I read you were 17) a little jealous, to a 6 year old who is recovering from extensive surgery I don't think he'll be jealous, but very stoked that his fave characters cared enough to let him know they want him to get well soon!! Gotta remember the age girlie!

Anyway...I think that I'll call Disneyland this week and see if there's anything they can do especially for him!

Thanks again everyone!
