Hi everyone!

WOW! I can see this thread has been running for quite awhile! We booked our cruise at the beginning of May and we are 1st time cruisers. I was doing a little research to get some ideas about what to pack and to get an idea of what to expect on board and I came across this thread. Looks like will be joining you on the Magic leaving next Saturday! YIPPIE! I will be traveling with a friend and my 7 year old son who is SO EXCITED (but not as excited as I am) about this trip. My husband and I were married at WDW in July, 1999. Fortunately, he found a job after being unemployed for a year. Unfortunately, he cannot get time off to go on this cruise. BUT my son and I are ready to set said and let the Disney magic take over!! I look forward to meeting some of you and dancing the night away Disney style!! If anyone has any last minute suggestions, reminders, something a first time cruiser wouldn't necessarily think of..I am all ears!! Have a GREAT week! See you soon!

Welcome aboard!!! I have a 7 year old son that I know would love to get to know your 7 year old. Too bad your husband can't join you, but you will have a blast. Come to the DIS meet at 3PM the day we board at the Promoade lounge so you can meet everyone. If you want to participate, people are bringing one item "gift" to exchange that represents where they live - kind of like a white elephant gift exchange, so if you bring a gift, then you will get a gift. The most important tip for a 1st timer I have is not to forget your passports/identification as they will not let you on the ship without it. The other is don't underestimate having Bonine/dramine and take it before you get on the ship if you or your son is prone to motion sickness. Nothing ruins a good cruise better than being sick!!! I know everyone else on this board will have lots of great tips for you. See you soon!

Is anyone else the only one in their family that is super excited? My husband is looking forward to it, but is not one to plan ahead or show excitement on the outside. My kids I know are going to have a great time, but they haven't been since they were 6 months and 2-years-old, so they really don't have a frame of reference to get excited about. I show them the video and they are like. Yeah, yeah. I've already been waking up early excited thinking about the cruise. That's why I have to come on here....to converse with others that are excited as I am!!!!! Here's to us!!!

WELCOME!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

We are getting so excited too! :yay: Just finished our fish extender gifts but still need to start packing. We just finished our busy week of graduation and college orientation. Now we cannot wait to relax on the ship in a week. Can't wait to meet you all shortly :)

Faith

Why can I not get motivated to pack for myself? I think because it involves trying everything on and I hate that.

We picked up Brandon's suit and dress pants today and got the other things he needed yesterday, now I have to get myself organized so I know what I still have to buy.

My older sona nd his girlfriend are flying down late on Friday--which makes me nervous becuase I know he will wait til the last minute to pack and I won't be here to be sure he has everything!

We will get to Orlando in the afternoon Friday and just relax at AKL. My parents will arrive around 7 or so depending on the ME-which is NOT magical and never exprexx when we use it, but free makes it okay.

Welcome SEO31!!! Glad you found us.

Yes, I am WAY more excited about this cruise than DD! That's cool, though, since I'm the one paying for it! :rotfl2:

I do know that DD is super excited about the Teen Wild Side Excursion on CC which sounds great. She & Larry have been texting about it and commiserating about the 9am start time!!! I am not "overprotective" but would otherwise NEVER let her go off on a teen excursion unsupervised UNLESS it was a Disney one and on a private island that they own!!! Thanks, DCL, for giving me peace of mind --- and a couple of hours of peace & quiet :worship:.... Let's see, their excursion meets at 9am and gets over at 1pm, which leaves the question, at what time do we start the frou-frou drinks over at Serenity Bay, ladies??? :beach: + :drinking1 + :rotfl2:

It is just me & Jayde (my 16 yrd old DD) on this trip... I am more excited than her! I "think" she could care less; won't help w/anything or even pack. She is not a planner & will be up all night Thurs packing her suitcase.

It is starting to get to me that she is not the least bit excited BUT she is a hormonal teenager!

It's a toss up between Fran and I. We are both very excited about this trip. DS Rob is excited as well, but as is typical for him, he doesn't really show it much until its time to leave.

Drum roll...............

We are packed except for medicine, toileteries, and the stuff we grab the day we leave (alarm clock, stuffed animals). Right now we have 3 hanging bags and 5 suitcases. Will have a backpack and probably 2 small carry ons with drinks and all of Rees' meds. I didn't think that was too bad for 5 of us. Also took the kids for haircuts today. Tonight I need to get all our pictures and videos off the camera and camcorder so they are ready. Now I can work my final 3 nights without panicking. I will sleep Wed during the day and go get a mani/pedi that afternoon with DD. We head out early Thurs am and will arrive in Cape Canaveral around 4pm. Can't wait!!!

We are going to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner and to Best Buy for the kids to use their b'day gift cards for new games for their DS. Have a good night!

Hi everyone!! I haven't been able to post too much but I'm trying to read the posts when I can. I had to get my now 7 year old son's birthday party out of the way today so I can start covering my dining room table with clothes. For those of you who have already packed, is there a secret to keep your clothes from getting too wrinkled by being packed early? I had thought about it but I didn't want to make the clothes worse!! This is my first DCL cruise so I didn't know if I could send some clothes to get pressed. Do they do that on DCL (for a charge of course)?

I'm very excited and my niece who's 20 and has never been on a cruise is too. I booked us the Pirate Encounter in GC, so I hope the kids like it!!

Thanks for letting me share my excitement! This time next week, I'll probably be getting ready for a show since we have 2nd seating for dinner.

Yes, you can send clothes out to be pressed. I believe its 1/2 of the laundering expense. I am going to do that for several things since I hate to iron! They do have irons for you to use in the laundry rooms too if you want a free option.
DD is mostly packed as is DS (DD helped him :goodvibes). They are also packed for band camp - they leave tomorrow and get back late Thurs. Fri Am will be laundry, pedicures and repacking before our 7:30pm flight.
I have a pile of things ready, and will pack while they're away at camp. I can't believe the cruise is almost here!!!!:banana:

Oh good - another 7-year old boy!! I have a 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter.

When are you doing the pirate encounter in GC - we are doing the 11:45am one???

:flower3:I tried to book the 11:45 one but it couldn't accommodate our group of 7. We had to book the 1:45, so we may try to do something else before the PE. We'll have two 5 year olds with us too!!

Can't wait!!!

Lynn

Well I have packed the FE gifts and DIS gift. Tomorrow, I will try to do most of the clothes for Rob and I. Ben is on his own. :lmao::goodvibes

I have not checked in in a while. Work has been hectic due to my vacation and the vacations of my coworkers who cover for me and I cover for them, we all seem to be on vacation in series, since I am in the middle we are doing lots of coordinating to make sure everything is covered. Got my FE gifts packed to ship to the ship today. DD is not finished with school until Friday noon and we leave Friday at 7:15. She had her 8th grade class dinner and dance On Friday the 5th and has awards day on Tuesday, no official graduation from middle school into high school but we still consider it a milestone. We gave her a graduation present, a new Ipod, I never saw such a big smile and loud scream, guess we did good. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday. Have a good weekend.
