5th Annual Christmas Shopping Thread

Hi ladies!! cleaning in our house and outside today! Garage, pool cover-up, all the stuff we need to do before we leave next week!! I have made quite a bit of headway on my kids wish lists this week...I am soooo woefully behind (for me!) that it's outrageous. I am ALWAYS completely finished shopping by Oct 1. For everyone except my grandparents and thats because I go in with my mom and uncle for their gift. Not so this round...but my dd did find a couple of cute small things for her room she wanted to add, so that is great...I hope to order all the stuff that will be shipped this week and it'll come in while I am away and my mom can hide it!! :goodvibes She's housesitting and this works out perfectly!

Have a magical vacation!!!!:tinker: I hope you're able to enjoy the new fantasyland!

Alright, help me out here please. I have an 11 year old DSD that LOVES history but has not had much exposure beyond social studies class. What can I get her for Christmas that she would love?
On another front, what's everyone getting their fathers? He's the one I always stress over until December 24th and then end up running out and getting a gift card. Would love to be more stress free this year.

Has she seen the show 'How The States Got Their Shapes'? If not, you should check it out. They are in season 2 right now but Season 1 just came out on DVD so that might be something cool for her. It teaches a lot of little known facts about the states and it is really interesting. Like I said, season 2 just started so you can find it on the History Channel and preview an episode and see if it might be something she would like. Here is a link to the first season on Amazon:

You could give her a subscription to a history or social studies magazine published by Cricket. They are well written, engaging and advertising free. Kids love getting mail.

I agree costco is a better deal, unfortunatley they don't have the Cinderella's Horse dreamlite. It is only at Toys r us.

In the Toys R Us big toy book, it looks like only the giraffe is a dreamlite. Is the Cinderella's Horse just a regular pillow pet, or is it the dreamlite? :confused3

Thanks! These pillow pets are so cute!!

We were just at Toys R Us yesterday and I only saw the cinderella horse in a pillow pet and did not see it in a dreamlite. But I suppose it could be in other stores?

Well that's what I get for shopping in the middle of the night. :lmao: It is a pillow pet. But I am going to keep my order, still think it is cute. Would of been a lot cuter if it had lights. well thanks for straightening that out for me, I would of been in shock when it's delivered.

Hello Everyone. Sorry haven't been on lately. Trying to catch up on posts. My FIL suddenly passed 2 weeks ago and we've been crazy busy with everything. Well my DD4 (who is speech delayed) is finally telling me what she wants Santa to bring her. She wants Doc McStuffins Toys so I guess I will be picking up some of that. BJ's had a cute set with a doll, not sure price. I am going to look at Target and Toys R Us to see what I like better.

We bought ours at Target for 39.99 last month. Right now at TRU they are 29.99. That is for the talking doll and lambie.

I preordered Brave, but I'm not sure if that will be for a gift or for me ;). I ordered it through the Disney Store and when it ships I will get a coupon code for $20 off a purchase of $39.99 or more (I think) and I'm going to then use that to get DD a suitcase.

I also ordered DD a set of hair chalk today. I'm not sure if she knows it exists, but she's always talking about wanting to color her hair different colors.

 Sorry to hear about your FIL.

I decided to throw a Christmas party for my friends this year, yay! :cool1: I am thinking we will play a few Minute to Win It style games, and that I could have a few small prizes. We are teenager girls, and I would want them to be no more than $5 each. Any ideas?

Also, I am working on a baking gift basket for one of my friends. I just bought a mini cupcake/muffin tray, and I am thinking of adding a cupcake recipe book, some cupcake paper cups, dish towels (since she doesn't have any...still blows my minds), and maybe some sprinkles and some icing bags. Anyone know where I can find some of these things at low prices? I don't want to spend a crap ton of money on this.

I am not sure if I want to get her the talking doll or the set I saw at BJ's. It's her doctor bag with the stethoscope, etc... and it comes with a smaller doll but still good size. We can't get her both so I need to settle with either or. My Christmas budget is shot since in Sept, DH had surgery and then the passing of my FIL (we live out of town from them) so travel costs, gas, taking time from work, my money is non existent.

Any ideas for elderly women? My Aunt is in her late 90s. She spends time with her sister and eats lunch out with friends. No hobbies at this point.

I've done gift cards to her favorite restaurants, store, magazine subscriptions, blankets, and last year I gave her a soft hoodie. I was thinking of getting her some nice soap and body powder at Crabtree and Evelyn (never bought anything there for myself so I don't know much about the store).

Does that sound like a good idea or does anyone have more suggestions?

I got my grandmother a (microwave) heating wrap for her shoulders and back years ago that she really liked. It was lavender colored so I also got her lavender scented body stuff to go with it.
Here are other things I have given through the years
Gift basket filled with practical stuff like dishwashing liquid, kitchen linens, cleaning supplies, candles, etc)
Memory foam bath mat, new towels and soft robe
Willow Tree Nativity pieces
Angel statue for her garden
I'm having trouble thinking of something for her this year though.

Does she like to write? Maybe some neat stationary or cards, some new pens and some stamps?

Need some gift ideas for my 13 yr. old nephew. He loves history and is strong in his Christian faith. I have gotten gift certificates for him over the last couple of years and would love to get him some different Christmas gifts. Does anyone have any suggestions?
