How will the 50th Anniversary Celebration at DL affect crowds at WDW? Without even considering this, we rented points for July at WDW and are kind of stuck with those plans. Will the crowds be unbearable?

On the flip side, what kind of celebrations does WDW plan for the 50th that might help make up for my poor planning?

Isn't WDW doing the big stuff for the anniversary in May?

The actual Disneyland anniversary is July 17 but I don't have any idea what WDW has planned, if anything, for that weekend.

I'll be in the certain mess at Disneyland that day.

The reason I was asking is that I was planning a trip to DL in Nov. and I was reading on Mousesavers that fall would be a good time to go to DL- but stay away from DL in July. I just wondered whether this also applies to WDW? Hopefully it won't be any worse than the usual July crowds.

Hi,
We have annual passes to DL. The 50th anniversary kicks off on 5/5/05. In fact, they are shutting the park down on 5/4 to get it all decked out. I think the reason why Mousesavers says to stay away from July is because of crowds. Summer crowds are heavy in DL. We go all of the time, and our strategy during the summer is to get there at 8am (park opening time). We usually do all fantasyland rides in an hour with little to no wait.
November is good because it's not as crowded (except for Thanksgiving, of course).
