50's suggestions??

I thought the chicken pot pie was good. The sauce tasty kinda cheesy. However, I prefer the meatloaf. Don't forget the PB&J milkshake!

Love the Prime Time!

Great Onion Rings, and Fried Cheese!

Have tried Meatloaf, Fried Chicken, Pot Roast and Steak several times-all very good!

Brownie Sundae is the best of all the desserts we have tried.

It is fun, classic food. The server makes the meal memorable. We have always enjoyed our server.

Go and enjoy!

OP, I enjoy 50s Prime Time Cafe. We've eaten there twice and have a third ADR set for 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have eaten the shrimp cocktail, the onion rings, and the pot roast. My sister has had the meatloaf and a vanilla milkshake. My mom had the golden fried chicken and shared my appetizers.

I LOVED my pot roast both times. It's always very tender, very tasty, and not fatty. Very very good food. The onion rings were done perfectly - they were crunchy and not filled with grease as they sometimes are. They were medium and large sized and very good. The shrimp cocktail was also very good - still chilled, not too fishy tasting, and there were about 4 or 5 of them, medium to large sized.

My sister said the meatloaf was good, but it's a sweeter meatloaf (we are used to meatloaf made with tomato juice, not ketchup), so it's good if you like a sweeter meatloaf. She LOVES the vanilla milkshake - they are huge.

My mom loved the mashed potatoes that came with her chicken, as did I (and the veggies with the pot roast, onions and carrots, were good too). She didn't like the greens or the chicken (but I can't remember why).

Go and try it for yourself. I hope you enjoy it. We had a party of 10 and had to wait about 15-20 minutes past our ADR time for a table (and we arrived about 5 minutes early). Not bad, but our ADR time was for 5 PM. Be prepared that you must have your ENTIRE party there before they will put you on the list for the next to be seated.

We did, I even bought one of the cookbooks at Disney and inside of it is the recipe for the Chicken Pot pie, I have made it several times, and all times it was good! But every one has their own opinion, that is what makes the world go round! :goodvibes But you'll never know until you try it! Happy Planning!

Just made my ADR's for Nov 18th. The food sounds wonderful. This will be our first time!!!! We can't wait!!

I eat at PT several times a month. My favorites are the pot roast, fried chicken (NOT the southern greens though!) and the chicken pot pie (it is only offered at lunch and is served in an asiago cheese topped puff pastry). My all time favorite thing on the menu is the Fried Herb Cheese appetizer - it is amazing! My favorite desserts are the angel food cake with fresh berries, smores and dad's brownie sundae.

Someone mentioned watermelon sprite.... it is no longer on the menu. Only flavored cokes are left as far as "flavored" sodas go.

I'm also a fried chicken guy at the PT 50's cafe, but the last time I went I decided to sample some of my sister (err, wife's) pot roast. Let's just say I'm a really picky eater and I was ready to trade with her on the spot (but I'm sure our brother Bob would have objected and told Dad on us).

So, a big thumbs up to the pot roast. It's delicious and a nice switch if you're not in the mood for the excellent fried chicken.

P.S. Tell Brother Bob I said hello. :)

Fried herb cheese for appetizer & pot roast for dinner.....yummy

This is my favorite meal. I go back and forth between the fried chicken and the pot roast. My mom will only go to 50s during the dinner menu b/c she really likes the chargrilled pork tenderloin. I like both the watermelon and blackberry sprite. I must admit that I am addicted to the fried cheese so much so that I got the recipe and now I make it at home. I had the meatloaf in december it was just okay in my opinion I would much rather have meatloaf at home and have something else on the menu.

I had the salmon and it was really good. I also didn't care for the overall dining experience at 50's Prime Time. We had a 6:30 ADR and were seated nearly an hour later - this is all with an almost 3 year old. Not good.

Glad to hear the salmon was good. I always get the fried chicken as well, but I want something different/a little healthier, so I think I will try the salmon this time around.

Another vote for the pot roast!!! I ate there 4 years ago..and I still remember the pot roast. Quick question, a bit off subject, but when I went back in 2003 our server was "mom," and now when I read the reviews everyone talks about their "uncle" or "brother"....do they still have the mom servers?? :confused3

kindve dumb...but really curious!

Another pot roast vote here! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 A lot of times my DM and I will share it-we find it plenty for both (and we are not small eaters! :rotfl2: ) My DM really loves the pot roast! :cloud9: Personally, we didn't care for the chicken, all that much. :confused3 Maybe we had it on an off day (we don't like the chicken at HDDR either, unless it's hot from the kitchen).

We've never had "mom as a server. Best one for us-Aunt Elaine! :goodvibes

We just ate there a couple of weeks ago, and I had the fried herb cheese (yummy), the pot roast (very good) and the brownie sundae. My dh had the onion rings, the chicken with the ham and cheese, and the brownie sundae. He liked it all. My older DS had the fried chicken, which he didn't like (and neither did I...it was tasteless), and the brownie sundae. I can't remember what my Mom had, or my DS8. The food was good, but the atmosphere was the best!

Our server was Auntie Janice, and we also had Uncle Tim and Cousin Desiree in our "kitchen". Aunt Janice was a HOOT...she sounded just like Rosanne Barr with that nasal tone to her voice. My DS12 didn't know what to make of her when she yelled "Hey Scooter, get your elbows off the table, and no hats in my kitchen!"....

I don't know if we'd go back just for the food alone, but it is a fun place to eat once in a while!

I'm looking to try something new as well.
I looked at the menu and saw chicken pot pie, is that any good?

I had the Chicken Pot Pie in 2006 and it was very tasty. The chicken and vegetables were in big chunks and the gravy was very tasty. The crust was flaky, just like I like it. I don't know why the one poster said to stay away from it, but I would recommend it and I am a very picky eater.:thumbsup2

I loved the pot roast but the portion was kinda small. If you are a big eater you'll definitely want to order desert too. I am a petite person and I wanted more!

Last time we went, I had the pot roast, and it was delicious!

Count me in as another pot roast lover! The smores dessert is not bad, but I want to try the brownie sundae next month. :thumbsup2
