50 Enhancements across WDW for the 50th

Any one else surprised to see BTMRR in the list of rumored enhancements? It was just down for an extended refurb in 2016 and didn't get the DL ending then - I don't see it likely they would close it again for such a significant change they already had a chance to make.

I was living in CA the summer of DL's 50th. It was a fun time to visit the parks regularly. I also worked at WDW in 2004/05, when they installed all the decorations and "brought in rides/entertainment" from Disney Parks around the world for DL's 50th. It was a fun promotion, and something we'll probably never see again.

I'm sure we'll get lots of paint jobs for WDW's 50th. And I'm hoping for a new (not re-purposed or recycled) nighttime parade by then... I don't know when I got to pessimistic about WDW. :(

It wouldn't take four months to add those effects plus if they did the refurb in 2020 (just speculation), that's four years after the last refurb then that would be more justified.

I know there is a love/hate relationship with the 25th Birthday Cake castle. I was there, still have the musical snow globe, I loved it! It was so much fun to see how they transformed it. I cannot wait to see if they get really bold again!!

I have the pictures to prove I was there and still wear my 25th anniversary shirt but oddly I don't remember the castle except from pictures so I'm leaning towards wanting bold as well to remember the experience. It's got to be good. They have to at least try to top the 25th.

I have to say, had I been there when the castle was done for the 25th, I would have been VERY upset. I agree with others that I imagine most people who go want the iconic castle, and I imagine something like that would be a real downer for them.

It would of course be cool if they did something off to the side, or had special effects on the castle at night that could come and go, or for the nighttime shows etc. That was just too much of a departure from the central iconic figure of WDW ... ugh.

Back to the original topic, this excites me. No matter how small some of the enhancements might be if they commit to 50 I'm not going to complain. On the other hand if they promote each new enhancement as a newsworthy event I might have a problem. It's like a PP mentioned the earlier promotion (can't remember the name) was one disappointment after another.

MK
- agree with adding camera to BTMRR
- would also like video on Splash Mountain
- space Mountain - make it a smooth coaster
- add a ride to feature Tangled; the bathrooms are cute, but a ride would be great
- build The Snuggly Duckling and have it be a TS restaurant with the servers bursting into I've Got a Dream at least once per seating
- Tangled added back to the pre-fireworks castle show (yes, my family likes Tangled)
- agree with update to CoP

Epcot
- film or live show for every pavilion
- a ride in every pavilion
- a theme coaster somewhere in this park would be great
- add Piper to Pixar Film Fest

AK
- video on Everest
- another TS restaurant

HS
- ditch the Little Mermaid show and replace it with anything else - like Tangled! : ) Or Mary Poppins or Aladdin . . .
- revamp theatre where Little Mermaid currently shows so that all the seats are good seats; right now the sides have terrible views
- improve QS options

I didn't even think of the Snuggly Duckling as a restaurant. OMG yes..

The Snuggly Duckling would be really cool. Maybe they could replace Pinocchio's Haus with it. And they could follow the format of Tianna's Place on the Disney Wonder with the stage show during dinner

I really really hope you are wrong on this. Because this Paris anniversary stuff looks really cool.

Wouldn't you love to have Cake Castle 2.0? New and improved with projections!

I may be...

You'll see tons of signage and lots of "fringe" type stuff...no doubt.

Perhaps an excuse to do much needed maintenance is the best thing for all of us...

But I don't see any significant, permenant investment...not with all the current construction.

Rockinrollercoaster was built for the millennium thing...just saying...

Euro...is in a bailout...

I didn't stipulate: WDW doesn't sense the need to spend on this. The place is packed and it doesnt affect his clientele
Right now rumors say Disney wants attendance up big during the 50th which would make sense. Doing nothing won't accomplish that. Attendance is not up if you remember.

2 billion in further investment...that's my somewhat educated guess as to what it would require in the next 4 years ON TOP of MGM to provide enough capacity to allow for a massive attendance influx. Remember: they are actually down guest areas since 1999...only springs is actually bigger than what was there when Asia opened in AK.

If they want to do it...I'm all in. I'll pitch in $5.

Of course...none of us will be able to afford it by then...but that doesn't matter to "rounding third" Bob

I would love to see a program focused on the customers and their satisfaction rather than on the parks/rides. I went to WDW several times during the "Year of a Million Dreams" and the park patrons really seemed to react in a positive way because so many people actually received something special - something that made them, as individuals, feel special - during their trip. A program like that would go a lot further with me than refurbed rides.

Why not both?

I would like what you said as well but some WDW attractions are in desperate need of a refurb.

Yes...that what I'm thinking.

The problem with "service" is I see no way management will commit to it...because to increase service, you need both better and more employees...and that is a cost they turned their back on 20 years ago.

So if you can't bank on that...we must demand the tangible investment. They don't have to install a bunch six flags stuff...but really need to get back to "meaningful" additions without all the pomp and circumstance or the bloated longterm schedules. That's what made WDW great and they are draining the reservoir
