5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Gosh. Just so you guys know... I am jonesin' sooo bad for this cruise to hurry up and be here. I don't think I am going to survive the fall and winter without bursting with excitement.

Are we doing FE gifts? This is our 3rd cruise, but we have never done the FE gifts before and I would like to do it.

Myself, this is the 3rd time I've done the Disney Cruise. I am going with 4 other girl friends and we are just having a girls beach party!

:welcome: I've added your DIS name to the first page. If you'd like to have additional names added, just let me know.

Now that our trip to WDW is over, we're also excited about next year's cruise. Two stops at our favorite port!!!

We have a FE from our last cruise, so we're in. Anyone else?

I'm actually messing around with a packing list already...I love lists. Dearly. Love. Lists. I mean...I really need this cruise. I will figure out the $$$ later. I just want to be on that boat!

As for the fish extenders...we probably won't participate unless I get a wild hair simply because we are traveling with my mom, my step dad, my step sister and step nephew. I'm a party pooper, I know! I would be glad to make a list if that's something that gets done with FE exchanges. I will do the organizing part of it, if necessary.

I would love to do a meet though. I would love to talk cruise at any time. Seriously. I need that boat!

Yes, there's just something about that boat!! They know why they put that sign up as you disembark!!

What excursions do you plan to do at Nassau and CC and what are you most looking forward to about this cruise?

I'm glad you asked...:rotfl:

In Nassau we are probably just going to get off and walk around a bit. We are thinking about the pirate museum. Last time, we did nothing. We got off, we shopped a little, we got back on the boat. Probably that's similar to what we will do this time. No particular reason except that I really like being on board that ship!

At CC, I want to do a whole bunch of things we didn't get to do last time. My kids just wanted to dig in the sand. So that's what we did. All in all, not a bad way to spend a day, since they had never been to a beach, but I would really like to do something else. That's why we are bringing mom...to have one more person to watch the kids. I want to parasail like nobody's business, BUT I can't imagine this "pooh sized" body dangling at the end of a string behind a boat. :scared1: I'm working on losing some of that "fluffy" so I will feel better about doing the things I want to do. I would also like to snorkel, ride bikes, do the water trike or paddle boat thing with the kids. I'm so very glad to have two days there so maybe we can do what the kids want and what we want. Serenity Bay looks great, but I really like hanging out with my kids and so maybe we will save that til the kids get to that age when they don't want to be with us anymore. At 6 and 4 (7 and 4 when we sail) they still like to hang around with us...I will take that as long as I can get it.

What about you? What are you going to do at Nassau and CC?

I'm so desperate for "cruise talk" it's not even funny!
Cari

p.s. It's everything that I look forward to. But mostly I think it's the feeling that I don't have to do anything that I don't want to do. The vacation feeling I guess. But more than that. I can't really explain it very well. It's like I remembered myself and my husband when we were onboard. You know, we really like each other, we have a lot in common. Our day to day life gets in the way of that sometimes. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but I forgot that we are Tim and Cari. You know as opposed to Daddy and Mommy, or the cop and the dance teacher. We are more than our jobs and our roles. We are cool people who like spending time together. :thumbsup2 I don't mean to sound like we don't like family time, because we do. There's nothing better than being Mommy but I just forgot that I'm also Cari and he is Tim. Wowzers, that was personal...sorry if it was tmi...I really have no filter...what ever is in my brain (unfortunately, sometimes) comes right out my mouth and fingers...I may change my mind and edit this post later. :)

I'm still debating about Nassau. Since we have two days at CC, I may not do much at Nassau. Really, the only thing that appeals to us is the waterpark at Paradise Island. I've heard you can rent a day room at the Comfort Suites next door and get 4 waterpark passes with your room. We would have to get two rooms as there are 7 of us in total.

At CC, I would love to do the Jet Ski tour this year, as well as ride the bikes across the island as a family. I've done the parasailing and absolutely loved it. It is so peaceful. I would like to do it again, but it will be either Jet Ski or Parasail and not both. We also just enjoy doing nothing at the beach!!! Again, I'm glad we have two days. We probably won't snorkel as we did it last year and it wasn't as fun as snorkeling in other ports.

My parents did the Stingray adventure last time and enjoyed it. They would really like our kids to try it.

One of the things we like about the cruise is being able to spend time as a family, or spend time with just the two of us without the kids. The kids also enjoy that freedom. It's so different than WDW. When we were at WDW I asked each of the kids which they liked better - a cruise or WDW and each one had to hesitate and really think about it.

Don't know why, but I'm in a DCL mood today.

Entering the ship after the CM said our family name. it was magical. Thinking about it now brings a tear to my eye.

2. What is your favorite adult beverage (or food item) on-board or at CC?
Any drink of the day was my favorite. We don't get those fun tropical drinks in the midwest.

3. What excursions do you want to do at CC?
I want to snorkel and possibly rent a jet ski for a short tour.

4. Do you plan to book a brunch or dinner at Palo?
not for us. We are just barely fancy enough for Tritons let alone trying to "fit in" in Palo.

5. What is your favorite activity on-board?
The shows are amazing. I also like laying by the pools and watching the horizon from deck 10.

6. Do you plan to participate in FE?
Haven't decided yet.

7. Ask a question for the next poster to answer.
What is your favorite thing to do in the evening when the kids are in the clubs.

now that I have read everyone's emails I am getting over excited too !!:yay:

So, this will be our 3rd Disney cruise, but I feel like we haven't really explored the ship enough. So, what are some "don't miss" activities on board and at CC. (Remember DS will be about 7 & 1/2).

Of course we will want to see the Toy Story show, wasn't on our last cruise. Trevor was just turning 5 on the ship last time, and it was Halloween so we kept things pretty simple. He enjoyed playing at the Oceaneers club, we could have left him there all day, every day. He wanted to play in the sand at CC, but with a hurricane close we had a bad storm and departed early. That is why a two-stop at CC is a must for us.

So, any can't miss adventures at Oceaneers club/lab for him. How about ar CC? (last time the sand castle building got cancelled.)
I was thinking about Palos. DH and I ate there on our first cruise, but I wouldn't leave Trevor last time. Which meal do we skip? I don't want to miss the pirate's meal, I don't think we will know our dining assignment early enough for ressies. How dressy do you have to get for brunch?
DH and I may opt for massages. Our last two vacations I was cheap and we just went to our usual at home prior to the trip.
Give me some good reasons to want May 2010 to get here asap !!:upsidedow

This will be our first cruise so I can't respond to some of these, however:

3. I would love to do the parasailing, in spite of my fear of heights!
4. Definitely want to go to Palo
6. I probably would participate in FE
7. Where are you staying the night before the cruise? We will be at CIS.

1. Spending time with the kids on the veranda watching the flying fish jump in the boat wake. OR, seeing the look on the kids face the first time they saw the ship. OR, snorkeling with my 7 yo son last time at CC. Looking over through my mask and seeing him explore something new was priceless.

2. The drinks of the day are good but I'm a margarita fan. I'm usually tired of them by the end of the cruise after having so many.

3. I would like to try the jet ski tour. I'll probably just snorkel with the kids in the lagoon.

4. Never have, don't know if we ever will. Just not our thing.

5. The shows are unbeatable. Watching the kids party at the sail away party is pretty fun too.

6. We've never done the FE before. We're undecided as of now.

7. How many of you all plan to book another cruise on board and if so how many of you hope to be able to book on the new ship if possible?

Do you think DS should have some sort of shoes for the beach and water at CC? I am thinking the sand will get very hot for him, and if I remember correctly the sand under the water is rather rough...I may look for clearance water moccasins.

I honestly spent days and days looking for water shoes for the girls...eventually finding them on ebay...they could have used the Crocs we already had or flip flops. I think he probably needs something. The sand at CC wasn't too hot when we were there in July but the pool deck was very, very hot.

My .02,
Cari

1. Favorite memory is boarding the ship in LA and meeting so many people we had met on the DIS over the past several months. I also enjoyed waking up on August 25th to head up to Deck 10 to watch us enter the Panama Canal while my youngest slept on the Deck.

2. Favorite drink is the BBC!!

3. I would like to do the jetski tour. It looked like a lot of fun. Will also rent bikes and ride to the lookout tower.

4. No Palo this time. I think the cruise is too short anyway. :( The brunch takes too much time away from a sea day and the dinners in the main restaurants are already excellent. Plus, we want to make sure we eat every evening meal as a family.

5. Favorite on-board activity is relaxing whether it be lounging by the pool on Deck 9, strolling on Deck 4, enjoying a show in the WD Theater or enjoying a meal in one of the main dining rooms.

6. Yes, we'll participate if there is enough interest in FE. Regardless, we'll decorate our stateroom doors with magnets.

7. a. Favorite thing to do in the evening when the kids are in clubs. We have sometimes gone to the nightclubs, but with the late dinner on our last trip, we were usually exhausted about an hour after dinner.

b. Where are you staying the night before the cruise? We'll rent a car and stay somewhere at WDW. We haven't decided yet.

c. How many of you all plan to book another cruise on board and if so how many of you hope to be able to book on the new ship if possible? We will probably put a deposit down for a "dummy" cruise unless the new itineraries have opened up. I need to ask our TA if we can book the new cruises if they are announced prior to our cruise and then rebook on board to take advantage of the 10% discount and room credits.

New Question: Do you have a room number already assigned or are you in a Guaranty stateroom?

Do you think DS should have some sort of shoes for the beach and water at CC? I am thinking the sand will get very hot for him, and if I remember correctly the sand under the water is rather rough...I may look for clearance water moccasins.

Our 3 boys didn't have water shoes and were fine. They wore an old pair of Crocs instead and just removed them when they were in the water. I don't remember the sand at the family beach being that rough for them. We have typically hung out around the play set out in the water.

I do know that on our first cruise, my DW and I went over to Serenity Bay while my parents watched the boys. The botoom was extremely rough over there and I would recommend wearing feet protection at Serenity Bay.

We won't be doing Palo this time. I really enjoyed the brunch when we did it, but it does eat into the sea day quite a bit. For brunch, I just wore nice slacks and a short-sleeved collared shirt. You don't need a jacket or dress for brunch. If you go for dinner, make sure to try BOTH the Panna Cotta and Chocoloate Souffle!! The best two desserts on the entire ship! I would try to skip Night 5 if possible. I would speculate that the Pirate Night will be night 4, but I could be wrong.

We haven't done any spa treatments yet, so I can't recommend anything there.

For the adults, one of our best on-board activities was the Galley Tour. We also did a wine tasting which we liked. We didn't do the Tequila, Beer, Rum or Martini tastings although I wanted to do the Martini one.

We didn't do a lot of the "planned" activities on-board. I found it strange how everything ran on a tight schedule on the cruise, yet there was never a clock to be found!! We typically always got up early and watched the ship come into port. For us, this is always very fascinating. On sea days, we liked to sleep in a little, spend some quality time at the pool, maybe workout (maybe not) and then take in a show in the evening followed by dinner. We too are looking forward to the Toy Story show. On the Magic, they have Disney Dreams and Twice Charmed. These seemed more geared toward girls as our boys didn't enjoy them as well. They preferred the comedians or magic shows.

For working out, I will say that jogging on Deck 4 and watching the dolphins is something that you don't see everyday.

At Castaway Cay, I highly recommend parasailing! Your DS is too small as I think you have to be 9. If one of you can't stay behind with him, then another thing our boys really enjoyed were the boat rentals. We did the water trykes and paddle boats. The kids didn't enjoy snorkeling that much. I think it was because we had just snorkeled in Aruba a couple of days earlier and the water was clearer and there were more fish at Aruba. Plus, once someone told my kids that they spotted a baraccuda, they wanted out of there in a hurry!!! :lmao: We did find the hidden "Minnie" at CC while snorkeling.

My parents also highly recommend the Stingrays at CC. My kids didn't want to do it, so we passed on it.

However, our favorite pasttime at CC is just spending time relaxing and swimming at the beach. Something we don't get to do much here in Denver! Don't forget that in the afternoon, CC often sells their drink of the day on a 2-for-1 deal.:thumbsup2

For the kids, other than the clubs, one of the things they enjoyed was taking in a movie at the theater, especially now that they have the Disney Digital 3-D. We let them do that while we relaxed at the "Quiet" Cove on Deck 9. I don't know if the Wonder will have the Ocean Quest after the Dry Dock later this year, but if they do, the kids loved it when their club was there. It has the giant simulator of the ship's bridge, as well as a lot of other computer and video games.

Of course, there is always swimming. Our youngest will be 8 on this cruise. In the past, he has spent most of his time in the club or swimming with us at the Goofy pool. He really enjoyed most of the club activities and would page us when he was done. I doubt if they do it on this cruise, but the kids liked the overnight stay in the club. Also, don't forget the graduation where the kids get a free t-shirt and mickey ears graduation cap.

I do recommend a rash guard for your kids, especially since this may be the start of Summer sun season depending on where you live. We don't want to take any chance of a severe sunburn and the rash guards help out tremendously. I saw a lot of kids (and adults) on our cruise with a bad sunburn. I think getting a sunburn on the first CC day would make the rest of the cruise miserable.

Well, I read the article and glanced at the pics !! How exciting !!:woohoo: I think the expansion is really great for those on the smaller boats (I am assuming at least one will still travel there), more area for fun and play !!

Thanks for the info !!;)
