5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Hello All!!

It's been a hectic August! Between Football and Band, I am running all the time now! We have run for 2 days straight, this house is a wreck and I am beat! Yesterday started at 7am with the band yard sale, car wash and bake sale. Then at 10, we moved to the middle school for 3 football scrimmages for the Kick Off Classic. It was just a mear 90 degrees with clear skies. HOT and HUMID! That ended about 7 and I was making dinner at 8pm last night. We were all in bed at 930! The leftover spaghetti is still on the stove! I was just exhausted last night! I NEVER go to bed with a messy kitchen I hate to wake up to it. Oh well....

On a FUN note! The band takes a big trip every other year. This is the year! They haven't fully decided, but it's going to be either WDW or Universal! I am so thrilled! I will be a chaperone and know these parks like the back of my hand! It's, I thnk, the second week in April! Then, in 6 weeks, I'll be back for the cruise! Yay me! LOL Colton is excited. Connor gave me the "I don't care, I'll have fun with Aunt Linda" speil! Poor guy. One of the Moms told me that the last time they were at WDW, they were the lead off band for Spectromagic! HOW COOL would that be? I get excited just thinking about it! LOL Great, now I have the Spectro music going through my head! Oh well.....

Well, I better get off of this computer, clean up the kitchen and get moving on the day. This house is top priority!!

Make It Magical!! :wizard:

I totally got to do this in HS (well, it was ages ago so it wasn't Spectromagic) and it was a BLAST! How fun for your band.

School started officially last Thursday with the first full day being tomorrow. My oldest (10 yo) was very nervous. Lots of rumors about mean 5th grade teachers. But she said her teacher is nice and VERY funny, so all is well there (for the moment :lmao:) My 2nd grader was a bit disappointed that she didn't get the teacher she thought she would, but she is happy now too. So, thankfully an uneventful start to the school year.

We are headed to church this morning, then swimming. The pools will all close around here after Labor Day (weird... this is Texas. It is hot until November) so we need to get our swim fill in.

Y'all have a great week!

Do any of you pack with limited wrinkling ? DH and DS will mostly wear golf shirts to dinner, but I know they will look like crap. I even ironed them prior to packing at the resort last cruise and they still re-wrinkled. I tried an iron in the laundry room, but it was so poor I left with tears in my eyes. (I unfortunately, am a chronic "ironer" and hate when someone leaves the house looking "unpressed." At least at the hotel I can get the worst wrinkles out. I could use some advice...

Also, is anyone not planning on leaving the ship in Nassau ? We have been there a few times, and really I have no desire to get off the boat. We did take DS off the ship last time for an hour or two so he could say he was there. The only thing I could see us doing is the Pirate museum, but with so much to do on the ship why leave? !! I am thinking maybe we could sneak in a massage while DS plays in the kids club !!

It has been in the 90's here the last few days and really high humidity. Reminds me of Florida !! I was going to take DS to Steelers training camp, but no way we were sitting in that heat on a metal bleacher. We have 2 more days to get there...I am hoping for better weather.

Last cruise, I sent my DH shirts out to be pressed. The first night, you'll have to "wing it" because laundry is next day service unless you pay for express service which is like $7. But you can send the other 4 night's shirts out the first day for "press only", they'll be back the next morning and it's less than $2 each! ($1.75 last summer).

I thought it was great to have the freshly pressed shirts delivered to the closet for less than $10 total !! (and think of all the aggravation it will save you for little more than the cost of a "sail-away-cocktail!") :thumbsup2

There's always Downy's Wrinkle Release. My husband loves it. He wont go anywhere wrinkled either. He's worse than me.

This is what we've done too!! The press only service is awesome and not too expensive.

Just returned from 8 nights at WDW!!

Back-to-school night tonight and school starts tomorrow for the kids!

The WDW trip was awesome even with the hot and humid weather. Returned last night to Denver with temps in the 60's with no humidity.

We met about 5 families from the DIS boards, that we cruised with last year, while at WDW during the past week! Several more families were showing up on Monday (the one year anniversary of our sailing date), but we couldn't stick around to meet them due to the school schedule. :(

They are planning another reunion for early June next year at Disneyland, but we told them that we already had this 5 night cruise scheduled so won't be able to make it. I really don't want to wait until 2011 for our next cruise even though it would be fun to sail on one of the new ships!

Chris,

Glad to hear you had a great trip !!

I am sure you will post a few pics for all of us to see !!

Thanks to those who let me know about the "pressing" service... and the Downy (I forgot all about that.) I may buy it and try at home first...

I have nothing interesting to report, but I just really need to feel connected to the ship. I'm having cruise blues. It seems so far away right now!
Everything is fine and we're going about our normal routine--back to school and back to work, but I find my thoughts drifting off to the Caribbean...way more often than is probably considered normal. I'm only half joking when I say we should just move. You think it's too early for a packing list? :confused3
Have a good day,
Cari

The Post-Cruise-Blues are the worst, aren't they? I don't know how many times DH and I would say "this time last week (or month...or year), we were at Serenity Bay" or some other sad statement. Torture, pure torture :lmao:

Only 284 more days. I remember when we were in the high 300's, so the time is moving along pretty well.

This is so ironic. I came home from work tonight and my DW reminded me that one year ago today we were at Cabo on our Disney EB Repo Cruise. pirate:

A year ago tomorrow we were at Puerta Vallarta ziplining in the jungle.

And so it goes.....yes, quite depressing. We just returned from a fabulous WDW vacation, yet, we enjoy our cruises even more. We too can't wait until next May 30th!

Good Morning Cruisers!!!

Chris, glad you had a good time at WDW! I think we took vaca too early. I am itchin' to get away, but our schedule is packed.

Minnie, I try not to stress about the clothes. Although, my sister swears that if you lay the pants out flat on the bed, then lay the shirt out flat on top, fold in the sleeves to the center. Go to the end of the pants, lay your underwear flat, then place your rolled up sock on the end and then roll your clothes around the socks and place in the suitcase, that they stay less wrinkled then folding them. AND she claims to be able to pack more in her case. :confused3 I dunno, I've never tried it. You could take a few outfits, roll them and put them in a suitcase and see what happens over a weekend.

Found out this morning that the band will be going to Universal Studios this trip! I am still excited! Only wish we could stay on site, but I know that is not possible with 60 band kids and thier families. We'll have 2 days at USO and one at a water park. The mom I talked to didn't know which one. (hotel or waterpark) Some meals will be included. I'll get the information pack tomorrow with all the details. I do know we'll bus down on Monday and back on Friday...that leaves Easter Sunday to spend with the fam and the next weekend to recoup before heading back to school.

Kids start school the 26th, so we still have a few days!

Sent you something, you should get it today or tomorrow.

Well, the good news is I'm still going on my first Disney cruise. The bad news is that I have to abandon this ship. I had my heart set on this cruise, but so many things are happening that the date is not going to work out. I moved my ressie to the 2/20/10 7 night Western (which happens to fall on my b'day) but at this point dont even know if that date will work. Waiting for the release of 2011 dates in October. Hopefully will get a heads up after the D23 Expo (not going) but know someone will post dates. The other bad/sad thing is the meet thread for 2/20/10 is 2 pgs long. There are about 4 people. No word on FE's or anything. I'm depressed at this point but happy I can still go in the future. I put so much into getting ready for this cruise and was REALLY looking forward to it. I could go on and on with the down side....I plan on keeping an eye on this board to see how everyone is doing and expect to hear how much fun everyone had. And Chris, I expect to see lots of pics from this cruise! Lol Gosh, I feel like I'm saying good bye to family and I've never even met you. I want to use one of the emoticons but none of them are sad enough. Touch bases with you soon. Tami

Tami....We're so sorry that you can't make this cruise, but you'll have a great time on the 7 night Western!!!! And please don't tempt us into changing our cruise to 2011 for the new ships.

We've done two Westerns and really enjoyed them. Look on the bright side -- you get two more days than us!!! :cool1:

Don't fret if the 2/20/10 meet thread doesn't get any busier. :surfweb: Perhaps you can inject some life into it!!! We went on our first two DCL cruises without meeting anyone on the DIS and enjoyed the cruises thoroughly. Last night at DS's back-to-school night, we found out that one of my DS's friends went on a DCL cruise this past summer. We talked to his parents and they had the time of their life and are now planning a DCL Mediterranean cruise in 2010! They had never even heard of the DIS boards but are planning to check it out now.

Don't be a stranger and I'll probably post a picture or two after the cruise! :thumbsup2

Tami,

Sorry to hear you won't be cruising with us !!:sad2:

Wishing you lots of luck at finding a cruise that will work for you...hopefully over your birthday !!

Take care !!:flower3:
