5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Hi everyone. :wave2:

We are just off the Wonder, and decided to book this cruise on board to "hold us over" until the 2010 WB TA in September. :) I was shocked that our room was available, a full 6-7 months after booking was open.

We are Mike and Jodie (we also answer to Alex and Nessa. Alternatively, "hey you!"). We don't do well with group events or exchanges, but you can find us belly up at the bar at Signals or Diversions. You will also likely see my fat butt sitting in a beach chair on Castaway Cay.

Looking forward to counting down with all of you.

Welcome! I'm not great on group events either, but I love this board and looking forward to at least getting together for a group photo on board. You'll participate in that, wont you?

Haha! You sound like our twins :lmao:. We'll be the two NJ'ers sitting there with drinkies in our hands as well ;)

I doubt we'll be participating in much (we'll be there in spirit though!!!). I can't believe we're almost at the one-year mark!!

Ah, New Jersey will overtake Diversions and Signals. Prepare for an invasion!

Perhaps we'll have an impromptu game of Ring of the Bull. No meet time. No date. No need for a calendar or clipboard!

Getting excited about hitting the year mark, anyone else staying in Cocoa/PortCanaveral before the cruise? Where? I guess it's still too early to book the hotel. School has posted next year's calendar and thank goodness I "guessed" correctly about the last day of school (Friday, May 28) - not only that, it is an early dismissal day (yea) so instead of leaving on Saturday to drive down we might just have to leave from picking children up at school ! Tshirts would be great - there are 7 in our group.

Chris and I will probably fly down the day before and stay at the Hilton in the Airport. We did that in Oct and it worked out perfectly!

We stay at the Radisson the night before. We like their suites, the pool, and that they are next store to Kelsie's and across the street from McDonald's.

Also, we had the 11 am shuttle, but everyone was there early so we left early. We were at the port by 10:55. Worked out well. :)

We're going to try ('try' being the key word here) to get a few nights at the new DVC tower at the Contemporary before the cruise. I'm sure it will be tough, but if nothing's available we'll stay at our home-away-from-home, Old Key West.

Hi everyone!

School is winding down and I am busier then ever! I am counting down the days with the boys. Then it's sleeping in, lazy days and them helping with the chores! :thumbsup2 Track season is coming to an end with the banquet this coming Friday night. However, Marching Band season is already started for next year. Colton has been attending practices on Monday nights...with the exception of this week, it's tonight.....and he and I helped with the annual flower sale. (A local nursery sponsers us and brings out a tent and a TON of flower baskets. We sell for 2 weeks straight, ending on the Monday after Mother's Day. We sell about $20,000 in product each year, the band earning 20%)

I am SO looking forward to our week at The Beach Club and in the parks! I need a break and a fix!

As for the cruise, I am not sure where we will stay....probably at the port somewhere, regardless of whether we drive or fly. We are hoping to spend a few days at the park after the cruise.

Time to get Colton from practice. Have a good night!!!

Make It Magical!! :wizard:

Hi everyone!,

I just wanted to let you know that we will no longer be joining you on this cruise. We were really looking forward to it, but had thought the kids would be out of school by the time of sailing. Well, this year they have 2 weeks off at Spring Break due to a conference, so won't quite be out yet. I was so looking forward to going to Castaway 2 times and meeting all of you! I hope you have an enjoyable cruise and enjoy Castaway! You guys are so lucky to be going twice:goodvibes

Vicki

Sorry to hear that you had to reschedule. Enjoy your other cruise and I hope the weather holds so that we get two good days at Castaway Cay!!

Hello all! Just thought I'd join in on this group. I've lurked by a couple times and since we're crawling up on the year mark I might as well make an appearance. This is our 3rd DCL cruise and 2nd time on the Wonder. We booked a cruise a year ago on the Magic for another 7 day trip in Dec. 09. We were just booking to hold. We decided that we'd save a little money and push it out further and a double dip at CC was too much to pass up. We're actually going to stay at WDW a few days before and make a long vacation out of it. Our group is Me (Bryan) and my wife, DS 10 (at time of cruise) and DD 7 (atoc). Unlike the OP we are STILL in KS. I'm sure you are loving the views of the rockies in Denver. Not so much here but we still call it home (and its been a great home). Looking forward to reading about you all and counting down the days together. I'm not a big poster but I may join in from time to time. Lets hope for a great cruise next year with a great group of people.

:welcome: Bryan! I think we were originally booked on that same cruise in December 2009. A lot of us booked that as a "dummy" cruise when on the Panama Canal cruise last summer. There's even a meet thread for that cruise called "DUMMY -- The Cruise Your Heart Desires Most". It's mostly people from the 2008 EB Panama Canal cruise, but it's a place to stay connected until you rebook. I think some are holding out for the 2011 new ships.

We actually miss Kansas quite a bit and if the economy were better, might even try to get back. The thing we miss most of all (after our friends and family) are the schools. We also miss the trees.

Granted, the weather here is much better and the views of the Rockies are awesome. Here's a picture from our bedroom window:

However, Kansas City is home and perhaps we'll be back in a couple of years.

Where is Kansas do you live?

Hi, we rebooked onboard our cruise last summer, and just changed our date to the May 30th DD. (We did the DD last summer, too, it's a lot of fun to go to Castaway twice!) :dance3:

This will be our 4th Disney Cruise...
It's me (Carla)
DH (Jeff)
DD (16 at sailing)
DD (12 at sailing)

We've got two other families joining us - I hope they'll join the thread too.

:welcome: Carla!!!

I've added your family to the first page!! Please tell the other families about this thread.

:welcome: I'm so jealous! We so wanted to do the 2010 WB TA as well. That's right after our 20th wedding anniversary. We even had our travel agent check into prices and we almost put a deposit down, but we would have to do it without the kids due to its timing. We just felt that was too long to be gone from the kids without being able to get back to them when we have those 5 or 6 sea days in a row.

We did the Radisson one year and liked how close it was. It was great waking up and opening our hotel room door and seeing the Magic for the first time!! We also enjoyed the little Italian restaurant next door.

We now like to stay on-site the night before and just rent a one-way car. We still get to the port early.

Christopher, where are your beautiful photos? We miss you

I'll start posting again soon. I'm just trying to get through these last few weeks of school with the kids.

Christopher, I am enjoying your pics.

Yes, the WB TA prices were great. We don't have kids so have the flexibility for its relatively bad timing for any parent with school age kids. I am sure we will make up for the great cruise price with air fare, transfers, and pre-cruise hotels in Barcelona!

I forgot to ask permission to use this great graphic in my signature. I'm not sure who it belongs to? Tami0220?

Thanks! I am going to add it to my signature. :goodvibes

You're not crazy ... Mike and I are in our late 30s/early 40s, and we love it!

BTW, on the Wonder in April, we got a big kick out of getting off the ship, and seeing our pics and stats on our KTTW cards. Mine said "age range 30-39" and Mike's said "age range 40-49." Well, at least I thought that was funny.

Christopher, I am beginning to think I may hire you to follow us around for an hour on the ship. We never have any pics!

KS Disney Dad ---- what a beautiful view !!!!! Here in NW GA we have some mountains, but nothing like that !

Christopher,

Thats funny that we were "dummy" booked on that same cruise. We live in Wichita and I have to agree with you its a GREAT place to raise a family. Plus the commute is perfect. Just enough big city with a little bit of small town. :) Kansas City is a great town. My Brother used to live there and we get up there pretty often. I have to admit we can't compete with your views but I do see deer and wild turkey with an occasional owl out our back window. Got to love the burbs!

The economy here is not looking good especially at the aircraft companies. But all is well so far and hopefully it will all rebound soon.

Can't wait for next year to come and to get on the Wonder again. It will be a nice end of the school year trip for our kids.

Your pics from the boats are great. Keep them coming so we can savor the taste while we wait.

KS Disney Dad ---- what a beautiful view !!!!! Here in NW GA we have some mountains, but nothing like that !

Thanks! The peak in that picture is Long's Peak. It's one of three 14,000 foot peaks that are visible from Denver. The other two are Pike's Peak and Mt. Evans. We can see Mt. Evans and Long's Peak from our house. Long's Peak is in Estes Park, home of the Stanley Hotel where the Shining was filmed. It's also home of YMCA of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park which has the highest continuous paved road in America. The highest paved road in the world is to the top of the other peak we can see from our house-- Mt. Evans. That's quite a fun drive. Here's a few pictures from a drive we took up it last summer:

This picture is from the car window heading back down the mountain. There are no railings next to these huge drop offs.
