When we used to live in that area, there was a couple of stores, a couple of restaurants and a two lane street. They slowly expanded the place so that as far as you can see, it's big anchor stores in the back (old navy, michaels, bed bath and beyond, etc) and in the front are smaller stores and restaurants. Still the same two lane street. So the traffic there is HORRENDOUS. Don't even THINK of making a left hand turn!!
NOW that it's all built up and the traffic is AWFUL....NOW they are going to widen the street!!! They KNEW it was going to get bad, why not widen the street when there was very little traffic on it?
Mike gave me some story about how they had to get the tax money from those businesses to be able to AFFORD to widen the street....but I like to think a little more cynically than that and say they did it just to annoy us!
But...same thing might be going on with the schools. Build for what you have now (and can collect taxes for) and then when new ppl move in you have to build again, but at least can tax the new ppl too in order to get the $$$.
Our school portion of the propertax is exhaubatant and we just got a letter last week from the county that they are assessing the house at $200 000 more than last years assessment
