They just don't plan ahead! There is a strip of stores we like to haunt. When we used to live in that area, there was a couple of stores, a couple of restaurants and a two lane street. They slowly expanded the place so that as far as you can see, it's big anchor stores in the back (old navy, michaels, bed bath and beyond, etc) and in the front are smaller stores and restaurants. Still the same two lane street. So the traffic there is HORRENDOUS. Don't even THINK of making a left hand turn!!

NOW that it's all built up and the traffic is AWFUL....NOW they are going to widen the street!!! They KNEW it was going to get bad, why not widen the street when there was very little traffic on it?

Mike gave me some story about how they had to get the tax money from those businesses to be able to AFFORD to widen the street....but I like to think a little more cynically than that and say they did it just to annoy us!

But...same thing might be going on with the schools. Build for what you have now (and can collect taxes for) and then when new ppl move in you have to build again, but at least can tax the new ppl too in order to get the $$$.

:confused3

Our school portion of the propertax is exhaubatant and we just got a letter last week from the county that they are assessing the house at $200 000 more than last years assessment :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Our only non-life threatening ER visit with the kids was when KT put a piece of corn up her nose. Very deeply up her nose.

That's disgusting! My sister would stick berries (from holly bushes) up here nose so she could get a sucker. :confused3 Boy, it took mom a few trips to figure that one out.

Mike's step mom stuffed an entire pearl necklace up her nose. (when she was a kid, of course) She broke her mom's necklace and had to hide the evidence!!

After complaining of headaches for awhile, they took her to the doc who X-rayed her head!!

Hmmm, wondered what ever happened to that. :lmao:

:grouphug: to Amanda and little Nate! What a scary night. Glad to hear you had help at the mall and he's ok.

Has anyone heard from Stacey? She can't still be getting her hair cut can she? :)

Pam - great job on the door sign!

OK who has the drinks?? Pour me one please.....long bad night here
Thought I would pick up the kids from school early and head to the mall for some cruise shopping...we decided to eat at the food court...all kids wanting someting different of course.....after we ran here and there x 4, I then get to pick my food and eat.. of course the x4's were done eating.......As I am sitting there, trying to eat fast as I can without choking...I hear a loud bang echo thru the food court...I quickly scan for my kids...1,2,3 uh oh wheres #4??!?!? PANIC ensues as I turn my head in what felt like slo-mo and I see Nate on the floor not more than a foot behind me...directly in front of him is a ride (like in front of waltmart kmart etc etc ) It doesnt take long at all to realize he has just had a run in with this ride...and that horrendous echo bang was the sound of my kids head playing ball with this metal ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RUN TO HIM< PICK HIM UP<<HE CRIES I PANIC HE REMOVES HIS HANDS FROM HIS FOREHEAD AND I SUPERPANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blood everywhere........I can hardly see thru the tears......kind man in the food court takes charge us me and Nate. Puts pressure on laceration (learning experience I tell ya) all the while trying to keep me calm, in order to keep Nate calm.......He is telling me he is a medic in the armed forces...his DD's are telling me their Dad is good, and the MRS is telling me it will be okay..........sigh..all I can think is GET THIS KID TO AN ER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STAT and how the heck am I going to drive us all there?!?!?!?! We are in the food court of the mall, and as you know most foodcourts are in the center of the mall, meaining you usually have to go thru the mall to get back to your car....now imagine seeing me coming carrying a crying baby with blood all over both of us and 3 other kids trailing behind.....another kind soul stopped me....asked if she could look at her...alll I could think get to ER NOW..I said the other guy said me to go to ER he was a med prof..she said I am too, where are you taking him, I said the Meidcal Center..she said take him to the after hours clinic...it wont be as long of a wait and they can do the same thing as the ER...I said okay....SHe said let my husband carry him to your car for you..I said ok thru tears....THank God for him carrying him thru the store for me, That gave me time to cal down and gather my senses about me...and get us safely to the DR....Dr says no conccussion...needs stitches...it lookkkes horrible! I hated to even look, not because it was gross but because this was my kid and I didnt want him to hurt like tht.....all I remember is that they gave him about 6 stitches on the inside and about 6 on the outside :-( My baby was so brave and he did better than I did. I never want to go thru anything like this again..EVER.....I am still shaky because I just cant believe my baby is hurting..I have given him motrin, and he has ice on his head now...I think I just needed to get this out and hopefully it will help with the way I am feeling....I have to take him back to the DR on WEDS to get the stitches out....it will leave a scar...I am sooo grateful taht it wasnt anyworse THANK GOD!
I hope Nathan feel better. We had an accident with our DD, she was playing with the door that seperates the living quarters from the dining room, kitchen, and living room. Well, she slammed the door on her finger and just yanked her hand out and ripped her whole nail off the nail bed. It was just hanging by a thread, so off the the emergency room and we were there for over 4 hours. Fingers now fine and looks normal, thank god. We were really scared.

Door Sign Question -- Instead of printing on magnetic paper, could I just print on card stock, laminate it and then apply magnets? Not sure I want to try and mess with magnetic paper.

I have made a few signs using Printmaster. I tried uploading to photobucket so I could post, but they are saved with .sig and it says photobucket doesn't support it. I only made one from scratch, and the others I found that people had posted pre-made and I customized it for us. I am just not very creative, but I am working on it.

Two of our signs are printed on photo paper, laminated and have the sticky magnets on them...so yes..you can do that.

Alright, is it down to you and me now? We could call it a draw and split the drink cost? (See, I am a lousy gambler; I have no staying power. I always know that I am going to lose! :sad1: )

WOOHOO! A UTOP with Stace, missing docs, and, go figure, DRINKS! :rotfl2:

We still have two weeks...not going to panic...or take out a loan..... yet.

Ohhhh, Amanda! How awful! Poor Nathan! I hope you both are feeling a little better now.
I'm really happy to hear that people helped you. It seems like these days, no one wants to get involved. Soooo gald to hear that's not necessarily true!

Busy day here.......

I got my haircut, but it's not a new 'do. It's just a shorter "old" 'do. We took 3" off and it feels better already.

Then I spent an hour at the accountant's office, went to my office to make the payroll deposit, the bank, Walgreen's, the grocery store to get the cake and some flowers....then I came home and had just enough time to wrap presents and do this before the kids got home:

IMG_3551.jpg

Jay came home, Jordan was a good sport and wore a silly hat while she opened her presents, and then we met Megan, Pete, and Jordan's boyfriend at Desert Ridge and had dinner at Rock Bottom.

th_IMG_3488.jpg

A busy day, but fun was had by all. Can't believe my "middle" baby is SIXTEEN! Afterall, I'm only 29.

And a T.O.P. with my baby.
Happy Birthday, Beanie!:cake: :bday:

Sherry -- where did you find your mickey avatar. He is so cute, I would love to use him on a door sign -- do you mind sharing???

Sure I'll share. It's small though. It's saved to my computer (from last year I think) - I don't know where I originally found it. I'll try and PM it to you.

Okay,

Maybe I am just being paranoid, but is anyone else concerned about putting their last name on a door sign. I would be worried about someone being able to then go down to the front desk and say "I am Mr. Smith from Cabin 7546 and I just locked my card-key in the room"

Again, maybe I am just too paranoid!! :confused3 :confused3

I was thinking the same thing last night. I'm considering taking our last name off of ours. Just need to decide what to put on it instead.

DITTO! I love it! Great job! (Thanks for making me feel bad, as I haven't even been able to put together one lousy one, and you have done, what, three great ones!) :lmao:

Karen,

I'm willing to give up the one with the Mickey-head life perservers. Do you want that one? I guess I'd have to change the wording on it since this is our first cruise. I can either send it to you as a Word doc or just print it when I print mine. PM me if you want it.

 WOW!!! :confused3 :sad2: Hope I don't get one of those!!!

They keep building & building & allowing more & more traffic but never seem to plan ahead! It gets aggravating.

I'm not too happy about this John Smoltz baseball deal that he's making with the city. Yeah, go ahead & have all of these people come to this baseball park "in the city" (I use that loosely because it's an island that is annexed in to the city) & county roads are eaten up & destroyed, way more traffic than an over-crowded 2 lane road can handle, etc. Ok ... off my high horse now.
