For anyone who follows Idol, a bit of Disney trivia on this week's installment.

If you've been to Epcot for the Christmas decorations, you've heard David Foster's music.

About 2/3rds of the music for Lights of Winter (The lighted trellis between Future World and World Showcase) is off his cd A Christmas Album.

if your doctor already tried a stool softner like Miralax, with no result after 3-4 weeks on it, then Detrol is the way to go.

Samantha. Ds does this. He's on Miralax and/or Metamucil. If he goes without it for a week or so he ends up going to the bathroom every 15 minutes b/c of the spastic bladder. He's also had some minor accidents. When I complain to dh about how often he's going to the bathroom (and I mention things like "diabetes runs in the family") his first question is "has he been getting his Miralax????

Uh...no. :)

As soon as he's back on that he stops peeing so much.

There's an inverse proportion for him.....the longer it takes him to go poop every day, the more times he'll go pee that day. ;)

PM me if you're offended by dh's comments and I'll kick him for you! :lmao: :lmao:

Sounds like us, Amanda. On both port days, our only plans are to find our way to a nice beach and relax. Would be fun to get a group of Dis-ers together for that, though!

What is slump block???
Slump Block is a concrete masonry unit developed primarily to emulate the appearance of cut rock or stone as well as adobes.

It's a southwest thing...... :rolleyes1

What's nice about a slump block home is that they are much more energy-efficient when compared to frame (wood) homes or stucco. But still boring.

Oddly enough, Jared is watching a program about bricks. I'm thinking the kid will go into construction........
Atta boy!! :thumbsup2

hi sjtracey

Glad to hear your daughter's appointment went well. Detrol helps relax the bladder muscle so it doesn't spasm. Helps kids not pee so often and keeps them from having daytime accidents. (Won't help much with bed-wetting though).

I do have to ask you one thing though, and this ONLY comes from seeing LOTS of kids with the same problem. Believe it or not, constipation is a common cause of those same symptoms. Even in kids who poop regularly every day. If their bowels are full of stool, it pushes on the bladder, which makes the bladder spasm, causing the symptoms Detrol relieves.

Forgive me, but I am going to get gross here. It's okay though, the kitty litter is humiliating enough--it can't get any worse. Lets say a kid gets out 2 big turds every day, but they could have gotten out 5. 3 are left behind. the next day, they get out 2 big turds--they slide right out. but now they have a surplus of 6. and on it goes, until you have a kids with FULL bowels who has big stools everyday that come out easily. mom and dad would never think of constipation, but the kid IS constipated. And those kids often have frequent urination, urgency, and daytime accidents.

if your doctor already tried a stool softner like Miralax, with no result after 3-4 weeks on it, then Detrol is the way to go.

I debated posting this, believe me, and I say it all with a humble heart. And your daughter may have a different problem altogether. BUT urologists don't usually think about constipation, because most pediatricians have tried a stool softner for urinary urgency/frequency/accidents BEFORE sending them to the urologist.

I've said my peace... now I can sleep. HOPE you aren't too offended.

:)

Offended? Grossed out? Trust me, there's not much you can say to me on this subject that hasn't been talked about over dinner almost every night for the last few months. I long for the day that we DON'T talk about poop at mealtimes!

Seriously, though, you bring up great points, and I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge.

Our initial problem with wetting led us to a diagnosis of encopresis, and Erin's been on Miralax (and regular as clockwork) for a few months now. We (and her pediatrician) were hoping that the problem would resolve itself after she was cleaned out and had time to heal, but obviously, that's not the case. The urologist did bring up constipation and knows that Erin's on Miralax, so we've got those bases covered. But as you said, she's seen no improvement on the daytime wetting front (she's always been dry at night - go figure), so we're going to give this a whirl.

OK, we've now successfully grossed out the board for the night. LOL! And I'm sure that now LOTS of people want to have dinner with us!

CRUISE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Actually, a 2-part cruise question...)

1... Has anybody been to Paradise Beach in Cozumel?

2... Is anybody planning on going this time???

We had originally planned on heading over to Chakanaab, but, it still isn't open, and I doubt that it will be fully functional by cruise time... Paradise Beach looks like a great place for the kids to hang out and have a fun day without running all over the island... we aren't doing a DCL excursion.

I have been reading good things about it on another board... sounds like a low-key, fun day...

We're planning on Paradise Beach. A co-worker was on a cruise in Dec. that went to Coz. They got a cab & headed to P.B. They had a great time.

No kicking necessary. As I said, this is typical dinner table conversation for us these days. I happily take advice from anyone who's BTDT. And it's SO good to hear from others that are dealing with the same thing!

Miralax has been a miracle for us (once we got her adjusted to it - boy, THAT wasn't pretty!), and I'm glad we found it. Now we just have to get the peeing under control and we'll all be happy!

No I am the one who does all the planning.....but you are the one who is restless, to see you sit still for more than 15 minutes would be amazing..although you have gotten better, you do not wander off at the beach any more, at least not for a length of time where I have to send out a search party

AND A UTOP with my WIFE and the SEARCH PARTY

Samantha, we'll have to get together. Emily & Erin may hit it off - Ashley too if they don't mind a 3.5 year old.

Well, it looks like there's quite a few of us wanting to do this. Maybe we should plan a time/place to meet and all head over together? I've read that with the tendering, it's good to get moving earlier rather than later to avoid long waits, but I don't know exactly what the schedule is.

Wow! I've learned something on the boards today!!! I appreciate your willingness to offer your expertise and reassurance!

To bad, dh already asked me earlier (at dinner...) if there was anything new on the boards... :lmao:

When it comes to kids - I think we've covered both ends of the spectrum  with their various illnesses over the past few weeks...Kids and spewing, kids and constipation...When you are a mom - don't think there's much that can gross you out - or you have your dh take over.... :lmao:

Gross me out? Excuse me, I have an 11 year old son...:confused3 :rotfl: .

To all with younger kids - Maggie just posted on the Tag long thread so, it should be near the top...

Mom is having computer issues - we can't remember her password and her yahoo email is invalid for inactivity, so she's posting under my account.

I didn't! But I did notice you have those lovely yellow flowers in your lawn just like us!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Tonight, Bruce told Ashley to show me how to smooch. So she put her lips on my and move her head around a bit. It was cute but AACK!!! Where is my 3.5 year old learning how to "smooch"??? I went out to get my hair cut tonight. She saw a commercial on TV and told Bruce that the couple was smooching. He asked her what it was and she did that to him.
