OK all of you AI fans. I watched last night's show. Any comments on who ended up in the bottom 3 and who was voted off? It sure didn't surprise me at all, but I was a bit taken aback by the other 2 in the bottom 3...:confused3

I am liberated!!!! My little guy has gone to school. He did not have a temp so, off he went. He was fine most of the day yesterday and all last night. No temps. I plan on staying close to the phone just in case the Nurse from school calls. I don't think so though. He wanted to go out and play yesterday around noontime. He's been on the medicine for 48 hours.

So, here I am all alone!!!!! Waaahhoooo!!! What to do first. Check the DISboards, that's right.

Sandi - i was just going to post about that discussion and get Virgil and Mike's (through Karen) opinion on that.

I'm thinking we won't need it because we don't plan on leaving the ship in Cozumel and only shopping in the port area in Costa Maya. However i am interested in what they have to say.

Hmmm....well, I asked Mike...prefaced it with "you'd think I'd NEVER want to get another vaccine again, but...."

I told him about the thread, what the buzz was....

And he looked at me and said "wow, that's not a bad idea." He said it's not official AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommendation yet (for Hep A) but he thinks it will be soon. And some parents are asking for it, even though it's not an official recommendation.

Of course, he said "well, as long as we don't go on any major excursions"

uhhh....Tulum....

And he said "well as long as we don't EAT anything."

uhhh....they serve Subway sandwiches on the bus ride back.

he said "oh...yeah. then it's not a bad idea!" :)

He thought for my overdue tetanus I could get that onboard if I needed it (injury), but then I reminded him how MUCH it would cost!

So, we may all be getting immunized when we get back from DC.

KT will NOT be pleased. She thinks her next shot will be at her 12 yr well check. Maybe we should just do them all at once and then at her 12 yr check she'll just get checked. I know if she gets shots NOW, she will NOT want shots in a few months!!

I'm not surprised at who was in the bottom 3. One of them was there a few times before. One had been therea at least once and hasn't come back to anything SPECTACULAR to change people's minds. The third has had great performances, but honestly the one the other night STUNK. Even Simon admitted that when he watched it back on TV it was horrible (Mike and I called it from the get-go)

Not surprised, not disappointed. There are so many good ones that they have to be ON every week.

Country next week, should be interesting. :)

Woo-Hoo!!! Glad he's feeling better!

Has anyone ever done the submarine thing at Cozumel before? That's the only thing I have booked there and if it's not worth it, I won't do it. I'd rather just go to the beach.

We did the Atlantis sub at Coz. I wasn't sure when we booked, but it was fun and interesting. DH and DS especially loved it. I wouldn't do it again, but glad that we did it once.

Thanks Sandi. I guess I'll keep it booked. We could go to the beach after the excursion, or go back to the ship (I almost said boat).

OK - planning on my end has started to kick into high gear and I'm thinking about doing baskets/pails and mailing them ahead for the kids. Any suggestions on WHAT to put in them? I'm thinkin':

Snorkel gear
Light sticks
disposable cameras
beach toys

What else could I start getting to put in, my guys are 10 & 6?

I'm going to head out now. 1st time in 3 days. OW!!! The sun is going to hurt my eyes...;) . It is another gorgeous day here in NY. Temps supposed to get up in the high 60's again. Tomorrow even hotter. Windows are all open in the house, fresh air is flowing freely. Gotta love it.

I had the Hep A and tetanus when I thought I was going to go on the Panama Canal cruise, at the recommendation of my doctor. At that time, the tetanus vaccine was in low suppy and hard to get ahold of.
Ohminnie...is Mike's office having trouble stocking it? I wouldn't want to count on the ship having it.
What vaccine did you have that you got such a reaction?? I missed it in the posts back there.
Jared got his tetanus booster at his last visit. My records showed that he wasn't due until he was 14, but the doctor said the recommendation has changed to age 12.

Did you ever think about letting Shirley put together your baskets? You could send stuff to her and she'd arrange it in a basket and have it delivered to your stateroom. It would be there when you first get to your stateroom.

If you package the things on your own and have them sent to the ship, they will arrive in a cardboard box.

We had Shirley make the kids a basket for our first cruise and it was amazing!

Your list sounds like fun. Wouldn't getting an arcade card in there somehow be really neat? That probably would require finding a DISer who is sailing soon and having them get you one onboard though.

Inexpensive binoculars? Sunglasses? Hat?

Excellent idea, Ohminnie....more expensive, though??

Yup...it's 12 now. That's why KT would get hers at her next well check. When I was due for mine (5 yrs ago) there was a really low supply and they said ONLY get it if you have an injury. Well, not liking shots, I used that as a good excuse for 5 years!!! :) I think the stock is better now. Mike has it in the office.

I got the pneumococcal vaccine (protects agains 20 different kinds of pneumonia) I feel like I have pneumonia (minus the cough) There is a kid version too....but only protects against 7 or 10 types. But Mike says he gets calls all the time after kids get that shot. They have high fevers and pain and swelling at the site.

I am a little disappointed that the doc recommended it, but didn't WARN me what might happen. We leave for DC tomorrow and had I known what MIGHT have happened, I'd have put it off (probably for 5 years!) I'm one of those that like my house cleaned TOP to BOTTOM before I leave for vacation and right now I could care less. We leave tomorrow. No packing done. No cleaning done. Nothing done. :)

Leaving on a trip of some sort has kept me from getting the flu shot for the last few years, because I get a slight reaction to it...and I have been sorry for NOT getting it each year.

I used to get pneumonia shots, too, because I had pneumonia twice one year...but I haven't done that in a while. Those shots that I used to get must not have been anything like the one you got, because I didn't get sick.

Feels like right now, I'm getting my usual spring cold. I hope not. But will take something to fight it off, just in case.

T.O.P. with icky viruses....no fun.

maybe, but she takes such care in packaging them up and getting them there. I know you can ship special things to her and she'll include them in the basket.

Guess I'll have to go read that thread.

You think you're bad about shots ... I can't remember the last time I got any kind of tetanus shot!!!

Be careful about getting your kids' shots too soon. My sister got my nephew's shots before a birthday & when they moved to FL, he had to get them all over again because it was 1 day before his birthday! Poor guy!

I just found out about this group, and I realized that I have the three cabins next to Jilliebean. This is our first Disney cruise and we are so excited. DH and I took DS1(9) and DD(7) on a Carnival cruise last year, and we had a great time. This year, we are also taking DS2 (3). We are traveling with some good friends, and we can't wait! I am nervous b/c of age difference with 9,7, and 3. DH is afraid that DS2 will not want to go to club/lab, and maybe he won't behave during meals. I need to learn how to add the countdown so that I can see it! :cheer2:
