Someone on the DVC Cruise thread pointed out that I was close to 16,000 so I had to put that post on that thread. However you guys have been a big part of that as well so I wanted to share the post with you as well.

OK guys - post #16,000 and I can't think of any better group to share it with!

So how did I get here. 1997 my Mom dies after a 6 month battle with lung cancer. My in-laws were an amazing help and my Mom made me promise that I would treat them to something nice when she was gone. 1999 as a thank-you to my in-laws we book a land/sea vacation on the Magic (their idea). While waiting to get in to see Disney Dreams we meet a DVC member cruising on points. He tells us all about DVC. When we get home we call and order the package. In doing a net search for DVC I find the DIS! We bought into DVC in January 2000 and I formally joined the DIS in February 2000.

Over those years my two main homes on the DIS have been the DVC and DCL forums. Even then I think in my first 3 years here I don't think I had more than 3000 or so posts. We talked a bit about the 2003 Member Cruise - I think more on the DVC forum then here. Then we joined the December 2004 10 day cruise and around that time the cruise meets forums came about.

Here is the breakdown of our 4 most recent cruises (including this one)

Dec. 2004 Cruise thread 26,295 posts of which 2,812 were mine

2005 DVC Cruise thread 14,318 posts of which 1,759 were mine

May 2006 Cruise thread 28,398 posts of which 2,063 were mine (and still going)

2006 DVC Cruise thread 5,402 posts of which 729 were mine (and still going)

OK I'll admit it - I "talk" a lot.

What I can tell you is that I have met some wonderful friends from these threads. Friends I have laughed with, friends I have cried with. They've brought me up when I've felt down and I hope I have done the same with them.

Now that I'm a moderator I've also been trying to post more on the main cruise forum. Especially when I see a new cruiser with a question. The DIS and the DCL forums have been my home for the last 6 years and I hope it continues for many many more.

Would I like to take back some of those 16,000 posts? Sure! Some were plain silly, some were when I wasn't at my best, and some were just plain stupid. However I think and hope that most (including this one) said something about who I am or have been helpful to someone. That makes it all worthwhile!

Trip is back on - I'll be in a south Florida swamp this afternoon - No time to catch up at the office.

Took the car into the shop to replace a strut - picked up the car, the air was broken....strange, u-turn and took car back in......fixed now.

I can never figure out why people who live where its warm would want to ski???? I enjoyed skiing (occasionally) when I lived in CT & NH, but wouldn't DREAM of leaving FL to SKI!!!!!! Brrrrrr!!!!

Tried it once - had fun...but, it seems a hard sport to keep sharp on when you only ski once or twice a years - strange

I am just getting started planning Tarryn's Bat Mitzvah which is in August and have so much to organize I't a lot more fun to go to them than organize and pay for one.

Good luck - how many people are you planning? You could beg Pam and Maria to help you with shirts

lots and lots of private lessons with a really cute ski instuctor - with spouse nowhere around you while you are learning - guarentees no screaming and yelling arguments on the slopes...

Remembered one part of skiiing...the hot tub and wine at the end of the day!!!!!

btw, stopped at sam's. found the rolling coolers. wasn't sure how much wine it would hold so wheeled it over to the wine dept. we figure fully opened and full of wine it would never pass as a carry on (no way would fit under a seat or in the overhead bin) BUT....we were able to get 7 bottles in and still have it close using the flap instead of the zipper. Good enough for us. Plus the special bottle Mr. Scuba is having bottled.

BUT...if we wanted to, we could swing by a store after our flight lands and buy about 5 or 6 more bottles and it'd be no problem getting that on the ship.

HOPEFULLY I can lift the thing over my head into the overhead bin with all that wine in it
