Karen - very very true! I agree with your comment last night about family as well. When I think of all the laughs and tears we've had over the years. Definately a big part of our lives. Thinking back to the 10 day we did things we most likely would never have done if it wasn't for this group.

Yup, yup, yup...agree with everything!

Do you realize that some of us have "known" each other since JUNE of 2003? That's when the 10 day thread started. WOW!

Good morning all!

I set the alarm for midnight & registered the girls for gymnastics. This morning when I got up there was still one spot left so that means that there were no OTHER crazies that got up in the middle of the night to do as I did. I'm ready for the 75-day online ressie now ... BRING IT ON!!!

Saw some Olympics last night - but did not see the results....men's figure skating, speed skating and combined.

Have a Good Day all!!!!

men's figure staking...the russian guy blew everyone out of the water. unless he falls and doesn't get up, he'll most likely get gold. the women have shown us that even falling horribly can still get you a medal :confused3

speed skating....dunno....was distracted and didn't watch

combined....won by 21 yr old Ted Ligety (love that last name) Bode Miller was DQ for straddling a gate. Good! I think he's a lousy role model for kids and I'd be happy if he walks away from Turino medal-less. Really ticked me off that he walked back to his RV (can't stay in the Olympic village apprently) BEFORE Ted won. All of Ted's other teammates were there to celebrate with him, but no Bode. That's not class. :(

Irene - I can't speak for anyone else but I'm not expecting the stingray experience at CC to be anything like Stingray City in Grand Cayman. Yet we still love stingrays so will do it anyway - even if we do get to go to Grand Cayman. We just love them. So graceful and fun.

AND cute! :lmao: :rotfl2:

You are right. Couldn't remember the exact month but we have been together that long. Amazing! I've had some of my best laughs with this group and some of my deepest tears. Definately a family.

Like who would have thought many months ago when someone casually mentioned a mascot that Scoopie would have traveled all around the country and through him we shared more of our lives.

Woo Hoo! Another top with Karen and all our fellow cruisers!

I'm here on the couch watching the countdown to the top teen idol of the 80's. Waiting for number 1 and then laying down and going to bed. Can anyone pick who was #1? Britney Spears was #3, Rob Lowe #2, and (drumrole please) Molly Ringwald!! I don't know about that one.

Was Britney Spears even walking and talking in the 80s? Umm - her first album was in the late 1990s - I'd take issue with her more than Molly....

Molly Ringwald at least is most identified as an 80s teen icon with all of her teenage angst movies...How about Emilio, Tom, and the rest of the brat pack???

I just wanted to join the DIS so I could have a cool "Stingrays are cute" picture in my signature!!!

Ya know, I didn't think of that when they were interviewing him walking to his RV, but you're right. That was bad. And HOW could you not feel that pole when you straddle it? C'mon!!! He knew he did it, just thought he could get away with it. I'm with you, Karen...Bode go home...medal-less.

****Cruise question****

We will have a rental car when we are in Florida before the cruise and are staying at the Radisson. Would you return the car on Friday night and take the shuttle to the port? Or, would you keep the car until Saturday morning, drop off luggage and/or family at port and return car and then take Budget car rental shuttle back to port? Suggestions from my wise friends here.
We are renting Budget and will return it on Saturday morning early (we're early risers, anyway). We then have a spot on the 10 am shuttle from the Radisson to the port. That way I'll return the car while DH and DS relax at the hotel with the luggage that WE won't have to haul around too much.

That's exactly what I was thinking. She was in the '90s-not the 80's. Go figure. Britney probably wasn't into puberty in the 80's. :rotfl2: And they did show the Brat pack. Debbie(or Deborah as she is know today) was on it. Actually she hosted the show. They had Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, Scott Baio, Kirk Cameron, and a bunch of other guys. Brought back a lot of memories.

Good point.

Bode go home...medal-less.

I think moving to FL has made me immune to the Winter Olympics... I have watched a total of 10 minutes of them since they started... and I was always one of those people who watched them non-stop. (Might also have to do with the fact that I haven't even had time to sit down lately...)

In '2002, when Bode was "THE MAN", we were still living in NH, so it was absolute Bode-mania up there... he was definitely the hometown hero. Makes me glad that we moved... Ryan Lochte (swimmer... Summer Olympics) is our hometown hero now... at least HE's a good kid, and a better role model!!
