Keeping with the Grandma Lighbulb thread - how about one of those funny cards that says - WE ALL hope you feel better signed with a variety of our screen names? You know - a mini-meet in a card?

I like that idea! You certainly lifted my spirits when I received my card with everyone's siggie.

Angie

OHMinnie, I'll keep Grandma Lightbulb in my prayers. I hope you can figure out something for the cruise. It would be a shame for her to miss it if she does wind up feeling better.

One more day of work and I get a 4 day weekend -which believe me I need! Yikes I'm going crazy at work. So glad we aren't hosting Christmas this year. The house needs cleaning badly (that's on the agenda for tomorrow) and hasn't happened with both Mark and I feeling bad lately. Both feeling a bit better so we are as ready as we can be for the holidays!

Glad you are feeling better -- I just tossed all the leftover "stuff" into the laundry basket and threw a tablecloth over it --- house "looks" tidy now!

HAH :rotfl2:

I received a package in the mail from my parents yesterday so I called my mom to let her know that I received it. She had been calling me for days to see if I had gotten it yet. Now I know why! They bought me a strand of pearls & earrings. Very nice! That's one of the those pieces of jewelry that I've always wanted. Leave it to Mom & Dad to come through in the jewelry department ... God knows DH won't.

It's chilly here this morning ... upper 20s ... but should be warming up to almost 60 today ... woohoo!!!! I should get out and walk the neighborhood this afternoon.

Irene, have fun at your little get-together!

Jordan especially liked my personal favorite: I got her a stuffed bear with a cheerleader outfit in her school colors, and then I put iron-on letters for her school on the bear's top. She didn't believe me when I told her I put the letters on. I can iron! Just because I make break & bake cookies...geeez.

:rotfl2: You're one ahead of me - can't do iron-on without calling John at work for directions...1st time I did called he forgot he had me on speaker phone - fellow engineers got a good laugh...

Did you make the reservations? If so, you can TELL her you cancelled so she has the peace of mind and then wait until March - or you can call Disney and ask them not to really cancel her....It is called a LIE, a LIE....works well. Ask my mother - oh, she will not know 'cause I use this on her. Marvelous little invention. (Not trying to enter into a philisophical debate here.)

Seriously, I am sorry she is going through the treaments and will pray for a successful completion....

If you all knew Grandma Lightbulb, you'd know this wasn't an option. While it's a good idea to use on 99% of the rest of the population, it wouldn't work on her. In fact, Mike even said to her last night something about trying this but then added "we know you'd be to stubborn to change your mind and you'd just not go to prove a point." That's her. Once she has her mind made up, there is no changing it.

Yes, 90% of the time I have no idea why she does what she does....and it's taken me 14 years to accept that and love her in spite of it! ;)

Ahother top with Stacey - we really have to stop meeting like this!!!

- narrowing down - ribs for Stacey - chicken or steak for the rest??? We may kidnap you and bring you back to our house for dinner. John's in the mood to cook...

chocolate?

Prayers would be welcome.

Prayers are on the way... for Grandma Lightbulb, and for all of your family... this is hard on everyone, especially when you were all looking forward to the cruise together.

I remember how tough it was trying to do anything during my MIL's 3-week/ 1-week rotation, especially because she didn't want to be near my 'germy kids'. (Not that I blame her... but it didn't always come out with much sincerity.)

I'll bet you could make slice and bake cookies WITH the iron!!!! No cookie sheets to clean... but the ironing board might be tough to fit in the dishwasher after!!

HAH :rotfl2:

I did that before my party two weeks ago... the laundry basket is STILL in the closet, and STILL full of all the stuff I hid...

(how's that for cyber whining) - don't cancel, yet...Those of us who have only heard about you are looking forward to meeting you!!! Don't deny us that opportunity!!!

We've been rooting for you, praying for you and sprinkling lots of pixie dust through all your treatments...We're not giving up on seeing you in May!!! Chemo is exhausting and adding in the holidays makes it even more grueling...Please wait until March before you make up your mind....

We're facing that now - my parents were planning on coming down for Christmas but, mom finished chemo in December and starts radiation in January. So, they're staying put...Instead we get the IL's the 1st week in January...

o.k. - instead of lying - how about "forgetting" to call...

I'm with your MIL on this one. I avoid germy kids this time of year....One gets near me with all those sicky-poo, snooty noses and I am down for the count. Wasn't as bad when I worked with 1500 people, but in a small office, I am germ free..or no immune system?

Have lunch today with a friend and I bet she brings her three.....Hope they are not sick.....

Decided against the cookies as I found some coffee scented candles....They will burn tonight.....and no pans to wash :rotfl:

Parchment paper to line the cooke sheets! - best investment for cleaning cookie sheets - just crumple up and throw away...no scraping burnt crumbs...

better yet, get the kids to wash up the cookie sheets!!! :rotfl2:

"I'm just a girl who can't say no - I'm in a terrible fix..."

I'm getting ready to sub water aerobics at the YMCA - not a big deal???
it's currently 37 degrees and it's an OUTDOOR pool!!! :cold:

Even stranger still there's about 10-15 people who show up regularly...The pool is heated to 86 - the regular instructor gets in - NOT ME - I'll be the OOMPA LOOMPA - stuffed blob on deck...

Monica, stay warm.

I guess our Y's indoor pool is heated to 86 too. When we go in, the girls wind up coming out with blue lips. I guess it's ok if you're getting exercise but when you just playing, it's COLD. I like pool water at bath temperature, thank you ... that doesn't happen very often around here.
