Sad to announce that Grandma Lightbulb will not be joining us on this cruise. She's debated having us cancel because her chemo is making her sick, sick, sick. It goes on for three weeks, then she gets a week off which she spends sleeping....then back to three weeks on. :( She will still be on this for the cruise and if it's NOT her off week, she can't go, and if it is, she'll be too sick to enjoy the cruise.
We tried in vain to talk her into waiting until the last minute (March sometime) to make the call, but I think now she feels better just knowing she doesn't have to *try* to make it on the cruise.

Karen - could you just tell her that you cancelled it - and then see how it goes? If she's better - surprise her - if she's not she doesn't ever need to know!

I do hope that she is feeling better!

Virgil, that's a GREAT idea!

Karen, sending lots of prayers and good wishes to Grandma Lightbulb! Think about Virgil's idea....it just might turn out to be a great healer for her.

Hey Stacey,

How about ribs for dinner Friday??

Actually, I LOVE ribs. Jay & the kids don't share my love for midwestern barbeque, though....darn it. That's why I like to go to restaurants that have a variety...sometimes it's the only way for me to get something I want for a change.

Well, we were going to have our Christmas with Megan & Pete tonight....but Megan has my cold. (I wish she had MY cold...I'm ready to get rid of it).
After I slaved over break 'n bake cookies all afternoon, too! :teeth:
Hopefully, they will come out tomorrow night. We did let the kids open their things tonight. They were happy.
Jordan especially liked my personal favorite: I got her a stuffed bear with a cheerleader outfit in her school colors, and then I put iron-on letters for her school on the bear's top. She didn't believe me when I told her I put the letters on. I can iron! Just because I make break & bake cookies...geeez.

We tried to talk her into that option. She can be quite stubborn. She wanted nothing to do with waiting and seeing. Maybe there were other issues and she was using this as her out....but we couldn't get that out of her. Mike pushed and pushed until he finally felt like there was no winning and told her we'd cancel. She was VERY relieved when he finally said we would!

Mary, an email from you (or a letter since she isn't checking email much) would lift her spirits. :)

Karen - I've been thinking of her and meaning to e-mail but kept letting it slip my mind (seems everything has been slipping my mind lately).

I will definately send her off a letter. Can you please drop me her address again - I seem to have misplaced that as well. I tell you I'm suffering from CRS!

Thanks!

That remarkable, magical time ofyear is almost here!!!!

We are having a houseful of neighbors tonight and I think it will be frosty - (hey - it may have dropped to 48 last night), so we will be gathering around the patio fire....

Thankfully, our neighbors will be away over Christmas week so this means their fridge is empty! The Tur-duk-hen arrived yesterday at the same time I returned from shopping for the party - all of this will NOT fit into the fridge...Neighbors to the rescue.

Tonight I pick up the sandwich platters and then shut the doors so the rooms that are not yet cleaned up will be hidden.....tee hee.....

Yesterday lunch was with new friends, today lunch with long-time friends.

Presents still need to be wrapped. And grocery shopping for Christmas and Boxing Day...I am getting sooo excited.....and Santa has not even been yet....

Going to toss some cookies into the oven, make it look like I made Christmas cookies for tonight! ;) Sssh.....I got the ready-to-bake.

What a good idea....If it is cool tonight I may think of putting the oven on...What is the best type of ready to bake cookies to buy. I have one more trip to the store anyway....Thanks...

Kids' final day of school was today - they don't return until the 9th - sigh..

John baked last night for the teachers - the joys of him on school break too - he's in the mood to cook and bake - Irish Soda Bread and then made his famous white and dark chocolate mousse. I think he enjoys making all these women drool and sigh with delight (over his creations...) :rotfl2: He even takes care of previous years' teachers, too...

MIL&FIL decided to come down for a few days after the New Year - it's one of those rare occasions with nothing on the calendar except work - so the ILs will be able to take the kids places and do things - they would much rather do that than go to games and kids' activities...

Monica - bread ships well and I think you have my address. I can drool....honest......

Did you make the reservations? If so, you can TELL her you cancelled so she has the peace of mind and then wait until March - or you can call Disney and ask them not to really cancel her....It is called a LIE, a LIE....works well. Ask my mother - oh, she will not know 'cause I use this on her. Marvelous little invention. (Not trying to enter into a philisophical debate here.)

Seriously, I am sorry she is going through the treaments and will pray for a successful completion....

A Lie, a lie......see....and then all you need is another lie when she feels better and re recapture the room at the pre-booking rate!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Keeping with the Grandma Lighbulb thread - how about one of those funny cards that says - WE ALL hope you feel better signed with a variety of our screen names? You know - a mini-meet in a card?

Can't Remember umm.. Stuff.

Which is kind of funny; its also the abbreviation for Catholic Relief Services, and usually has a big ad on the back of the church bulletin with CRS in nice big letters.

How about Cats aRe 4 Sale?

I have two - want them....

They are in danger of losing one of their little kitty lives this morning......

We have "wind chills" in the 30ths and they want to go out and celebrate.

They can't - it's dark....

(This leads to kitty fights - which leads to vet bills, which leads to less $$ for the cruise).

Good morning cruisers!

Happy Thursday!

One more day of work and I get a 4 day weekend -which believe me I need! Yikes I'm going crazy at work. So glad we aren't hosting Christmas this year. The house needs cleaning badly (that's on the agenda for tomorrow) and hasn't happened with both Mark and I feeling bad lately. Both feeling a bit better so we are as ready as we can be for the holidays!
